Fitted sheets (elastic around the corners) as the first sheet would be a great addition. The ordinary sheets do not stay in place and move around during sleep. I have no more to add but 200 characters are required.

Clean, quiet, friendly, and great value. Places like this where you can get a good sleep in your own private room for a reasonable price are few and far between. Perfect location in town, walking distance to everything you need including the microbrasserie and restaurants in Rue Saint-Jean-Baptiste, the beach and to the quay via the Chemin des Soeurs, the art galleries, and even their own museum. Very convenient for hiking in the Parc des Grands Jardins and ZEC des Martres (40km drive). I will come again on my bike, as they are also certified Bienvenue Cyclistes!

Everything I mentioned in last year's review still applies! =) Situated in the heart of Baie-St-Paul, the location is perfect! Especially given the fact that there is plenty of free parking spots on site. Within walking distance of a supermarket and the main drag with its shops, restaurants, and bars. Also within walking distance from the beach and the marina. The hostel is located within the walls of a great old convent. It occupies a wing of the building over two floors. Try to score one of the few private rooms for 36$ (taxes included), which is by far the best deal in town! Used to be nuns' cells, so relatively small. But big enough for a solo traveler. There are no locks on the doors, but there are lockers available. There is a kitchenette on each floor where travelers can cook for themselves. Each room has a shelf reserved for itself in the fridges, so there is always room to stock your food. Everything is kept quite clean, with a cleaning crew going through the hostel every morning. The chapel has been turned into a living room, with couches, rocking chairs, and benches. There's a TV with old VSH tapes of movies from the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s if the mood strikes you. There is also a special area known as the "salon des afters" where people can hang out during quiet hours so that people can sleep. All the staff members are friendly and knowledgeable, and they're always there to answer your questions or offer suggestions. And, of course, the balconies with their rocking chairs, where you can chill and relax. All in all, a great hostel offering great value smack down in the middle of Baie-St-Paul. Will be back! =) Again! =)

The hostel was very peaceful. They've kept the essence of the old convent, it's very peaceful. The rooms, common bathrooms and kitchen were very clean. The kitchen was well equipped. The balconies are such a great spot to have your meals or your after hike beers. Staff was very welcoming! Rooms could use individual lights and hooks for your towel, but besides that, the rooms are great. There are many outlets and the beds are comfortable.

There are many positive things to say about this hostel, which I will note a few. The hostel currently occupies 2 floors in 2 wings of what used to be a convent (Maison Mère) and have managed to keep the convent’s original charm. They have various rooms, but , my favorite are the individual rooms with a single bed that is an extra $4 (compared to dormitory room) and is well worth the extra money!!! Each floor has its own dining room and kitchen, where guests can cook their meals. They currently have “short” term booking, for which there is no discount if one wishes to have an extended stay. They do have a cheaper rate for extended stays for students/workers, which are housed in the separate wing. The hostel is looking into opening more rooms specifically for tourists who want to stay longer, who will be offered a discounted rate. In the low season, the hostel has 1 evening of events per week. I had the pleasure of seeing 2 separate events of musicians. In high season, the events are 2 times per week. The location is perfect. It’s only 1 block from the main street, where there are many cafés, restaurants and galleries etc The staff. I can’t say enough good things about them. All are very nice and answer your questions with a smile. I liked this hostel and town so much that I stayed 3 weeks! I am looking forward to the hostel’s expansion, as this is my “go-to” place whenever I will be in Baie Saint Paul!!

Understand that the 5 stars are a judgement based on expectations vs experience. This is a youth hostile. I am 63 and therefore I am beyond giving up comfortable sleep or cleanliness or quiet or convenience. And I gave up none of them. The rooms are as bleak as you might expect for a room designed for a nun. A bed, a commode, a chair. No decoration, not even a lock on the door. Perfect. Clean and comfortable and no frills. But the common areas were charming as one might imagine of a monastery. Worth the visit....and I will return on future ski trips. What a bargain!

I unfortunately only stayed here one night. I stayed in the two bed dorm room with a friend. It was super clean, lots of storage space, really warm and cozy. Loads of space to socialise in two different rooms and on balconies and the kitchen was well equipped with new utensils for cooking. The staff were particularly nice (a friendly guy checked us in at night with great English too) and gave us tips on the area and for our travels. Parking just outside and a couple of nice baths!! No key for our room was the only downside. I would gladly stay here again. Thanks folks 😊
