Boutique hotel with self contained suites (you can make your own meals!) but with an attached restaurant and bar. A short cab ride to Barra de Navidad for shopping, groceries, restaurants, or to Melaque for a day at swimming beach. Relax by the pool, sipping cold drinks (Armando makes the best coco-locos). Listen to the waves crash on the beach. Watch dolphins and whales passing by and morning fishermen. Help with the turtle rescue program. The Villa Star is exactly as the website shows. Eileen was a wonderful host - she is well known in the town and can recommend taxis, places for meals, groceries; she even arranged massages and yoga for our group. Recommended for a group retreat or a friends adventure! Be prepared for a car/van journey south from Puerto Vallarta or north from Manzanillo.

Hotel's Favourite
Really loved this place. Finally was able to totally relax. It was so quiet, just the sound of crashing waves. There are only 4 suites so it’s very private. The pool was perfect because the ocean is too rough to swim in. The bar and cafe were great and honestly the food from that little place was the best I’d had in Mexico. They have a Turtle sanctuary on the property so I was able to release turtles a few times. Saw whales every day. Walked the long empty beach. I met a couple there that come every year and stay 6 weeks. It has a full kitchen so you can stay in. Had to write this because it really was an amazing experience.

We had a group of 10 friends stay for a week, which means we had the whole place. Eileen and her staff went above and beyond with ideas for activities, making bookings, creating special birthday meals, blending yummy fruit margaritas from scratch, taking us out to rescue turtle eggs from poachers, letting us participate in the release of baby turtles, bringing in massages, setting up yoga on the top deck, and anything else we could think of! Air conditioning in the bedrooms and big fans made us comfortable. She even pre-stocked our kitchens for us! Away from the tourists and bustle of Melaque and Barra but close enough to go visit if you want to shop or party.

if you want to escape the tourist scene and crave quiet wonderful gems, then this is the place! Wow! I brought 7 women with me and we had the place to ourselves...all ocean front rooms, great food and inexpensive drinks, 2 pools, miles of sand to walk on, and our lovely hosts Eileen & Jedd, who did everything they could to make our stay comfortable and safe. We took a cab into the nearby town of Barra de Navidad to shop at the market, went to a restaurant in Melaque one evening, and Eileen arranged yoga classes and massage for the group! Gorgeous sunrises AND sunsets! We even got to participate in a turtle release! Definitely booking again for next November!

This was like a holiday from life, peaceful surroundings with waves lulling your worries away while the sun kisses reenergize you. Stayed in one bedroom suite, it had everything we needed including a clear view of the pool & ocean & a private patio to enjoy meals outdoors. Our kitchen was stocked with all the essentials needed including drinking water right out of the tap! No need to use the blender when the bar has fresh fruit margaritas with ample alcohol, the food served at La Sirena Gordita was mouthwatering & you can’t beat Sunday brunch on the beach with your toes in the sand. Eileen is the consummate Hostess, she invited us along on all her trips to the surrounding towns/markets as well as sharing will us her picks for the best eats out all while giving us plenty of privacy. Our happiness was her goal the whole time & she delivered above & beyond service even going as far as making me pico de gallo just for me to enjoy in my suite. We left feeling like part of a new family & while we don’t want to share this piece of paradise we cannot more highly recommend this relaxing vacation. Sunsets are breathtaking & we also got the privilege of seeing a turtle come ashore to lay her eggs, afterwards digging them up for the turtle sanctuary. Can’t wait to comeback for longer next year & the year after IF we don’t move there first 😉.

The property is a hidden gem. The sunrises and sunsets are spectacular. Jedd and Eileen are fantastic hosts. The property is quiet and the 20 plus miles of beach that you can walk are fabulous. It is very safe and there is a little convenience store just a 10 minute walk down the beach. The rooms are clean, bright, the staff are friendly and wonderful. If you want peace and quiet, this is the spot. You can also request a massage and have Ophelia take your worries and stress away. I would absolutely come back. The apartments have a full kitchenette so you can pick up local produce and cook in your room. You can watch the birds fly in the sky, or see hermit crabs running across the sand. Depending on when you go, you might sight whales in the water or, maybe even escort some baby sea turtles to the sea! The beds are huge and comfortable! Brightly and colorfully decorated. I enjoyed my solo stay here and will be back next year! I love that the entire property is powered by solar panels and definitely eco-friendly and responsible. They also support sea turtle conservation. What a wonderful place to stay.

My husband and I just had the pleasure of staying at Villa Star of the Sea last week and it was the most relaxing and rejuvenating vacation we've ever had! We stayed in the blue suite, which was absolutely beautiful. The attention to detail was impressive and it felt like the perfect backdrop for a beachside vacation. The suites share a private pool that provides a great alternative to the ocean. We spent countless hours floating in the pool and relaxing in the sun. Villa Star of the Sea also have their own beachside bar. We took advantage of this and had lunch there nearly everyday. The bartender Yasmine was so entertaining and fun to chat with. Eileen and Jed (owners and operators) of Villa Star of the Sea were incredibly accommodating and are clearly passionate about providing an exceptional experience for their guests. Eileen helped to coordinate horseback riding and an onsite massage in their beautiful garden. Jed also helped to drive us to nearly towns to experience more restaurants and culture. It was a wonderful combination of relaxation and exploration. I would highly recommend Villa Star of the Sea! It's the perfect destination for a relaxing vacation and the exact opposite of the highly populated resort towns!

We spent two weeks at Villa Star of the Sea recently and can't wait to go back. We stayed in one of the new standalone suites, which is separate but just next door to the "B&B". The rooms were private with a nice breeze and a/c in the bedrooms and a beautiful and soothing view of the pool, beach and zen-like garden area. Even when all four suites were occupied, there were many times when we were the only people at the pool and it never felt crowded or noisy. The kitchen was remarkably well equipped with a coffee maker, blender, gas stove, pots and pans and lots of dishes and glassware. While we don't normally prepare our own meals on vacation, we did here. The convenience and fresh local fruit and vegetables were irresistibly delicious and easy. If you want to go out, Jedd and Eileen have two bikes available for guests and you can easily ride to Colimilla where there are several restaurants open for lunch and dinner, or you can take a panga (small boat) across the lagoon into Barra da Navidad either with or without the bikes. If you're less adventurous or energetic, Eileen will connect you with a trustworthy and reliable taxi service that you can pre-book or call/text when needed. Our suite was cleaned each day and laundry service was available for a small fee. We found that we spent most of our time in our swimsuits so had way too many clothes - it wasn't a problem even after two weeks! The pool is immaculately clean, warm and the lounge chairs are very comfortable for either reading, sleeping or contemplating your toes ;-) Jedd creates the perfect ambiance with music - and he also takes requests. The entire resort is non-smoking. We can't thank Eileen and Jedd enough for their warm hospitality and local knowledge. We'll be back soon.

We have had the pleasure of vacationing at the Villa Star of the Sea for two weeks. It is an impeccable property designed, built and decorated to the highest of standards. The owners Eileen and Jed live on site, are extremely accommodating and keep an eye on every detail. The kitchen is well equipped, the beds are comfortable and all of the windows have screens. The pool temperature has been perfect and the ocean is just a few steps away. The staff have been neat, professional and obviously well trained. Arranging transportation to the surrounding towns has been simple as well as reasonably priced. The ocean waves will lull you to sleep at night. We have traveled extensively and this is among the nicest properties we have ever stayed at. The property even has a small beach bar and restaurant for convenience that is called La Sirena Gordita. What a gorgeous slice of the Pacific coast and a perfect relaxing accommodation!

Beautiful one bedroom suite with a kitchenette and all your modern ammenities. We enjoyed a ground level suite with a view to the ocean and pool. All around was tastefully designed decor with soothing colours and relaxing music playing outdoors. Our hosts Jedd and Eileen were very caring and attentive to our every need. OnSunday's they offer a brunch on the beach and in the evenings you can partake in drinks at the tapas bar. The location is a 20 minute taxi ride into Barra de Navidad or a little farther into Melaque. So many things to do or see..or just relax at the Poolside. Perfect weather...perfect hosts. Thank you for a fantastic holiday
