Earlier this evening I drove to Garden RV Park, just north of Rogers, Arkansas, in search of a place to park my camper (2016 Custom Conversion Solar-powered Cargo Trailer with windows and RV style side door) No one answered the phone because it isn't answered on Sundays so I drove there because my first choice (Prairie Creek Campground) was unexpectedly locked, apparently from the huge storm that passed through NW Arkansas on Friday night. Because Garden RV's website says they welcome long term campers, I had hoped to rent a long term spot since I'm starting a job in Rogers tomorrow. After arriving, I rang the doorbell and knocked on the door in front and in back but no one answered. Rather than drive through the campground, I hoped to briefly discuss my request with the onsite manager. After a few minutes, an older Class A RV pulled up beside me and the driver thought I was outside to assist him. I am a campground host for the Forest Service, so I must look like someone who answers questions. I walked around to the drivers side and told him I was looking for a campsite. He told me the manager had saved the last spot for him and was supposed to be there to greet him. I replied that hopefully, there might be a small place I could tuck in overnight since my camper is only 6'x10' and mentioned I'd been trying to get someone to come out for several minutes but no one answered any of my knocks or doorbell rings. At that moment, a woman opened the front door and motioned for the Class A driver to come inside. I attempted to ask her (she was the manager) about parking overnight since the Class A driver had the last spot but she was very rude and hateful towards me while she ushered the man inside. I tried to explain but she blurted something about not allowing short term campers and how she wasn't the Forest Service or Army Corps of Engineers. (like I was too stupid to know this) She then ordered me to leave immediately and slammed the door in my face. All I can say is, it's been a long time since I've seen anyone that depressed and angry. I am truly grateful for being shown what a bad place that would be to stay for long or short term camping. It's also right next to a noisy highway. The grounds looked run down although the laundry room was clean but quite small. If you go there, just watch out for the lady manager. She's very angry and perhaps fearful. I hope her life improves but if she regularly treats people that way, it's easy to see how she brings negativity into her life and surroundings.
