A fantastic colonial style hotel. I was in the room 115. My Polish colleagues in 116 and 117. Excellent hotel but a bit scary at night. My work colleague experienced something very strange. There's indeed a kind of a poltergeist activity in one of the rooms. Lights switching on and off alone, water taps suddenly running water by itself in the middle of the night. Lights switching on and off intermittently without any explanation. Luggage moving around as well as the other stuffs in the room. And then, kind of white old lady apparition made my colleague run away to the bar and then came back to sleep with me. Amazing experience. I didn't see anything but heard funny noises out of nowhere. The food is excellent and a very comfortable hotel. Excellent service as well. What an adventure! If you are strong enough, go there alone ! And i am serious!

This hotel looks extremely beautiful with absolutely beautiful old stuff. I call this place as a real charm of the city. if we look at it’s old days when it used to have many guests and parties and to compare with it’s silence of now, well it gives a bit sadness to me because the hotel looks like empty.

The grand style building is only partly refurbished as hotel, but the rooms are spacious. We had room 112 on the second floor, no elevator, long corridor. Room size is 18m2 with large bed and one person bed, refrigerator, TV, Wifi and poor illumination. You almost need a torch to see what is in the suitcase. The entry area is 5m2 with wardrobes, heater and safe. The bathroom is almost 4m2 with bathtub, but good warm shower. The balcony looking over the pool and garden area is about 10m2. The dining room is totally lacking any atmosphere, and the food was non appetizing. Breakfast was said to start at 06:30, but then the cook arrives and they start to put the oven and the kettle on. First item out of the kitchen is 06:45. Good stop in between a long travel, very quit, but no holiday feeling.

The facade of this hotel is quite magnificent, from French colonial period. However, it has greatly decayed, and has a feel of a place where people retire. I do not know who owners are, but this is a far cry of what, for example, Vietnam did to modernise and give renewed splendour and chic to hotels from French colonial past.

Our room was a good size albeit tired. The bathroom had a very dated avocado suite, and the shower head fixing was broken off the wall. Good size balcony with view over the pool and gardens to the rear - most rooms are to the rear. The pool was murky, the sun loungers an uninviting metal construction, and other garden furniture was out of place red plastic chairs - not in keeping with the era of the hotel. Food was average in the restaurant. Wifi was excellent throughout - including in the rooms. We were able to pay by MasterCard without a surcharge. Interesting history though, shame it's not been sympathetically preserved.

The hotel is well located in Antsirabe, in the city but in a silent corner, fortunately. During the night, in the parking you can see clearly the stars in the sky. The hotel has to be renewed, but in any case you have all the conforts there, also the restaurant is active. We stayed there 2 nights (not sequential) because Antsirabe was a stop during our itinerary in Madagascar. I suggest to stay in this hotel and to help them to make revenues in order to renew the hotel because it is beautiful!.

I ensured the photo coverage of the national nutrition days in Antsirabe and the stay at Hotel des Thermes was exquisite. The mixture of traditional architecture and modern installations made me feel home. It hosted conferences and a private wedding in the meantime. We also enjoyed the world cup matched while surfing with high-speed Wi-Fi. The only inconvenience was power cut and delay in the power supply relaying electricity

The Des Thermes is a lovely old hotel with real colonial charm. There is a large patio area at the back where it’s possible to eat, and the rooms are large. This is a very nice hotel to stay in at Antsirabe.
