We visited at the end of June and had a nice big room with lots of natural light, a terrace area and a hot shower! There is even a small garden area with some chairs so it makes for a great place to relax with...More
Room was reasonably large but needs renovation. The shower had hot water and the toilet flushed. The mosquito net was too small, dirty, and had holes. The TV looked like an antique. I found a millipede in the bed when about to sleep. It startled...More
We stayed here because of its history with Dian Fossey. It's a bit of time warp and clearly popular with the locals and tourists. Clean with good service and helpful staff. The restaurant is good, though too much sauce in general, and I'm guessing limited...More
Stayed here as part of a tour we booked with a gorilla trek company. Overall, the grounds and rooms are clean with plenty of plugs to charge electronics. Food in the restaurant is decent and the bar seems to be fairly well stocked. Area apparently...More

While I know you're asking for yourself, it's always a good idea to talk to some knowledgeable people. For the sake of reseach, and because you might end up using some very good folks (which ain't such a bad idea) you might want to contact a small, boutique firm called E-Trip Africa. American born Ben Jennings and his wife Aurelie live in Arusha, and they do a superb job of creating custom- and I mean custom- tours to budget and desires in these areas. Just used them for the second time for five weeks in the Rwanda and Uganga gorilla and chimp tours. including this place. Big outfit they are not. That's what I love about them. We all have our faves. MIght be worth contacting. I"m on a budget and I will only use these folks. They work hard to make you happy and their guides are superb. For what it's worth.
