We visited Samara in August 2015. The Spring was just breaking making for excellent weather and wildlife viewing. This is a beautiful place with breathtaking landscapes, healthy wildlife and excellent staff. The lodging was great and the food was delicious. We were celebrating a special occasion and the staff helped with spoiling us making it an event we will always...

A unique reserve with stunning landscapes and some fascinating game. We just spent three nights here and enjoyed every moment. Our room was in the main farmhouse, spacious and comfortable. The food was homely, unsophisticated...and delicious. The service was friendly and welcoming. We had wonderful game drives with Jan who was one of the best rangers we've come across. The...

We stayed in the Sibella Suites and were not satisfied with the comfort offered. That was far off a fair value for the money. Our waiter at dinner and breakfast was very nice and friendly, but the manger was not pleasant! Game drives are very interesting as the landscape is different than from reserves closer to the sea or the...

Conservation in action, Samara is one of a kind - unique for having such an collective of species, despite it's pocket-size. Credit to the team, it truly is conservation in action, with such a diverse ranges of habitats, it's a haven within the Karoo... nothing shall match following Chilli their cheetah to witness only days old cubs. Incredible.

Total relaxation in a spectacular game lodge with a difference - top class food, service and accomodation in an unspoiled environment. A breath of fresh air compared to the usual South African game lodge servings - different but exceptional - we loved it.

We stopped over at Samara on our way to Plettenberg Bay. It was our second stay at Samara and will definitely become a traditional stay for us on our way to the coast. The staff are welcoming and warm - small personal touches like remembering the guests names throughout the stay are a special touch. The rooms were large and...

If in search of history, remoteness, landscape, niche wildlife...in a luxurious setting with a pool, where kids are welcomed, and even entertained (ive never taken advantage before, so was at a bit of a loss when my 7 yr-old went off for a swim then a bush-walk with our tracker)...this is seriously yr spot.

We were so looking forward to our treat at Samara and unfortunately it didn't meet our expectations. We were given a room in the main house facing the car park. The lamp shade was falling off its base, holes in the curtains, leaking bath.. so generally the room was tired and needs a revamp. The accommodation was not worth the...

What a wonderful place to be! You can choose a room in the main building , the very pricy chalets or the smaller chalets at the waterhole. Unfortunately they were fully booked so we had to choose the pricy alternative and as we were there we found out that the cheaper chalets at the waterhole were not booked. Thats the...

The setting is terrific and the staff make you feel welcome from the outset. The game drives with our ranger were fascinating and memorable for the animals, birds and flora and the history and conservation of the area. He was very knowledgeable and worked very hard to give us a great experience and reflect our particular interests. Our room in...
