It is impossible to describe the tranquility felt at this South African gem. The staff really go out of their way to make you feel special and pampered, I honestly cannot recall one member of the Samara team without a smile on their face. The game drives were unbelievable, from the surreal views (enjoyed with a G&T) on top of...

We were looking forward to a 5 Star experience and was deeply disappointed. Our room was NOT clean. There were dead flies in the room, a dying pot plant, a broken screen, bathroom floor was dirty, old tired towels. Tissues were stuck into one of the doors to prevent it from rattling. Curtains are dirty. We had to ask for...

Dear DrieneEwald, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, although we regret that we have fallen short of your expectations on this occasion. As mentioned in our email, we have been going through a handover period from our previous general manager to a new one over the past few weeks, which it seems has unfortunately had the...

Our stay at Karoo Lodge was just magnificent. Samara is a bit out of the way in spectacular Karoo country, so It is important to have a decent car to navigate the roads but once there guests can simply relax and enjoy the luxurious accommodation and the game drives. Unfortunately we had been given an incorrect code for the entrance...

The room location was Excellent, we felt totally secluded we could not see any other buildings of any kind. The rooms were extremely comfortable, and the design of the bathroom was excellent. We were overwhelmed by the greenness of the trees, and bush in the area. the main lodge was beautifully designed and comfortable, and we enjoyed the food and...

SAMARA KAROO LODGE was our home for one night. Lunch, game drive, dinner, game drive (both times Jan Dunn, enjoyable)and superb servce by Nomsa, Sonia and staff included. Room was large two four poster beds pushed together. Bathroom with large claw bath, everything very comfortable and clean. I loved sitting on the huge veranda or stoep, looking at a large...

Samara is special in all respects. The setting, in the mountains and rolling hills of the Karoo Desert, is outstanding. The lodge is well kept and inviting. The meal venues (sometimes on the veranda, sometimes on the lawn, sometimes in the dining room) are chosen with care. The food is excellent and well presented. The accommodations are spacious and comfortable....

We just had two days at Samara and are delighted with our experience. First, spending a half hour in early morning viewing mother cheetah cavorting with her 4 cubs - first the 3 of us plus guide from Land Rover, then on foot to within about 20 ft (hope the photos came out). Second, on afternoon drive...after 2 hours of...

I spent 2 nights at Samara Private Game Reserve just last week and it was unbelievable! The staff were great. Our ranger, Tendai absolutely went out of his way to find us everything we so badly wanted to see. His wife, Nomsa met us as we arrived. What a wonderful, friendly young lady. The food was yummy and the accommodation...

Samara is very special. We stayed in the beautiful old farmhouse (Karoo Lodge) that has 4 spacious bedrooms and a warp around veranda. Beautiful mountain views and scenery is hauntingly beautiful. the vegetation is different from the other game reserves (such as Kruger Park, Madikwe etc).
