The hotel itself is nice enough, clean and staff very friendly. The restaurant adjoining the hotel was very tasty and the pool area clean. First impression driving in to Mossel Bay isn't too favourable, very industrial. We also had a walk down to the harbour to check out the restaurants, and although they seemed nice enough, the walk itself felt...

I stayed at the Protea Hotel in Mosselbay for Business. Unfortunately my stay was only for 1 night. Daniesha made me feel so welcome when I booked in. The room was 5 star quality, beautiful, modern, comfortable and very luxurious. I ordered room service because I was tired, the food was beautiful and delivered soon after I had place my...

A beautiful situation, the beach and the Diaz museum are next door. Rooms are well designed and very comfortable - excellent beds. We had the presidential suite which was spacious and had a fabulous balcony. The Gannet restaurant is superb. What makes this hotel are the friendly staff.

We experienced excellent, friendly service. Our suite was clean and serviced each day. A really special touch was the nougat chocolates left out for us. Easy access to the wonderful Diaz Museum and local restaurants.

Pre-booked stay. Room was clean and modern with good TV and nice shower. There was no real view out of the room window, certainly no sea view and there was no balcony. There was quite a bit of noise as the sound carried through the rooms. The pool was small and the pool area unimpressive. The restaurant was very good...

I was pleasantly surprised by how picturesque Mossel Bay is - especially from the pool deck of the Protea Hotel. The facilities and grounds are beautifully maintained and there is a superb restaurant on site. The room was comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. Marriott has purchased the Protea Group in South Africa. This hotel is up to Protea standard. The only criticism I have is that the restaurant was expensive and my meal was dissapointing. I had a grilled calamari steak and it was rubbery.

Firstly the hi speed wifi is no speed wifi which is very frustrating. This is the second Protea in South Africa which promises but does not deliver on wifi. I used nearly all my 3G data allowance as no wifi signal in the bedroom. We paid the extra for a harbour suite for the self catering and the view. The...

This hotel appears to be the 'beacon' in a rather lack-lustre town. The entrance has a 'secure' gate, and the passing locals did look rather 'down-at-heel'. Inside the hotel however, the staff are very helpful, the rooms are spacious and attractive, and the food in the restaurant was delicious and extremely generous.
