Crossing the Rift Valley and climbing the steppe onto the green and rolling hills south of the Ngorongoro Crater, there lies a truly undeniable surprise and one that will be a home-away-from-home. The Manor at Ngorongoro, located in the north west Tanzania and with its 9 luxurious cottages (18 Suites), family cottage, and magnificent main Manor House, is one of the first safari lodges of its kind to blend East African hospitality with old-world Afro-European architecture and decor. Located adjacent to the famous Ngorongoro conservation area and within a 1500-acre Arabica coffee estate, The Manor is reminiscent of an elegant up-country farm home in the Cape Dutch-style of architecture.

Unparalleled luxury and service in the hills of Ngorongoro

We can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed our two-night stay at The Manor at Ngorongoro during our honeymoon. Located just 30 minutes away from the entrance to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, The Manor constantly wowed us with its beautiful grounds, fantastic lodging and attentive and caring staff.

Located on the grounds of the coffee plantation, the grounds of the Manor are absolutely spectacular — offering a peaceful escape after a long day spent on a game drive. Some of our favorite memories are relaxing on the patio, smelling the roaring fire and enjoying a sundowner. (The espresso martinis are fantastic, as are the bar staff — who are a riot).

The grounds are beautifully maintained and also fenced off, so no need to worry about wildlife entering the premises or escorts back to your room after dinner. The rooms themselves are absolutely wonderful, offering plenty of space, a fireplace that is lit up every night after dinner, and a luxurious clawfoot bathtub. Everything about our room was so elegant and relaxing.

As for the staff, Aneth was so attentive in taking care of us at breakfast and dinner — helping us with anything that we needed. The food was immaculate, while the entire staff also treated us to a private dinner for our honeymoon on our final night — including a special assortment of our names decorated with coffee beans.

Special shoutout to Altus for the fantastic wine recommendations, as well as Shariff — who was always cracking jokes whenever we saw him and was so friendly.. The Manor itself is a luxury accommodation straight out of a postcard, but it was the staff that really made our stay so memorable. We can’t recommend the Manor enough!

Visited the Manor for a three night stay including game drive to NgoroNgoro crater. What a fabulous place! It’s located on the foothills of the Ngoro Ngoro conservation area in the midst of a coffee plantation (I recommend the 30min tour to learn more about arabica coffee!)

Great food (beautifully plated 5 course menu). Moussa was our always smiling, always ready “butler” for the stay that made sure everything was “Hakuna Matata”. Rooms are large enough for an extra bed for our daughter and features a fireplace lit very night if you wish.

Peter our driver and guide to the crater was very knowledgeable and attentive to our needs and set up a fully appointed bush lunch including silverware and freshly brewed coffee to finish a glorious game drive.

Final point, wine list features the best of South African wines and should satisfy to the most discerning palette.

Big compliments to the Manor team under Basil, best in class!

We stayed at this property for two non-consecutive nights during our Safari at Ngorongoro National park. After an at times impervious "road", you arrive at this elegant Dutch-style lodge, immersed in coffee plantations and surrounded by a splendid, well-kept green lawn. Our room was really very large, cleaned and tidied up twice a day. In the evening they made us find hot water bottles in bed, which we VERY appreciated. Excellent dinner and breakfast under the supervision of the friendly and professional Shariff.
Very kind staff attentive to every detail. On the last evening they set a splendid table by the pool just for us and also lit the fireplace. We felt pampered and had a really good time.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

My wife and I stayed at the Manor whilst on a Micato Safari. We were with a group of eleven exploring the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Lake Maryana National Park. After exploring each day we were greeted with warm wet clothes to cleanse the dust off our faces and a hot bubble bath. Later after a 5 course gourmet dinner and social time we returned to our suite being greeted with fire in the fireplace and a bottle of non-alcohol (requested) bottle of wine. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful and staff is exceptional.

We would highly recommend staying here.

The Manor has a elegant charm that makes it a special and luxurious stay when visiting the Ngorongoro Crater area. Although not right at the crater rim like other locations, we enjoyed the secluded location and did not mind the drive to the crater. The staff was excellent and rooms were very spacious. We enjoyed horseback riding around the coffee plantation and visiting their onsite farm where fresh ingredients were picked daily for dinner service. We would highly recommend!

The Manor at Ngorongoro was the last lodge on our Kenya-Tanzania safari, and it is the perfect location for the return from tent camp style to a grand colonial estate.

The main house is palatial, with its reception hall, bar/club room with fireplace, and its restaurant with a beautiful terrace. Food and service is outstanding, and it is a safe bet to follow the general manager’s recommendation for a matching bottle of excellent South African wine.
The Manor Cottages are a delight in layout and decoration, and with its impeccable service, the Manor brings you back from safari to first world luxury hotel standards.

The game drive to the crater was well organized and guided, and we were lucky that the peak season crowds had left already when we visited.
If one could make a wish, it would be for an improvement of the access road, which was quite a rollercoaster ride after the recent rainfalls.

We would certainly recommend the Manor to anyone looking for a 5-star home base for visiting the Ngorogoro crater, and particularly as a final stop of a traditional tent lodge safari.

This is am amazing property with a small number of villas set on a large coffee plantation. The rooms are extremely comfortable and the service is fantastic. There is a lovely lounge where you can enjoy the company of the other guests who are usually there at 6pm for happy hour. They have a movie room and a billiard room with possible the world's largest billiard table. The food was amazing. The general manager who hails from South Africa was always there to greet us and make sure everything was perfect. There are a few closer hotels to the crater, but this is by far the best property to stay at.

After a long drive on a dirt road we (a group of 15 friends) arrived at the stunning property on the grounds of a coffee plantation. It reminded me
Of hotels I stayed at in South Africa and Australia, just more luxurious. The rooms are very elegant and spacious, one evening there was even a hot bubble bath with rosemary drawn on our return from cocktails! The gardens and pool area beautiful, the food served by our wonderful butlers superb, the massages excellent! We all agreed that the Manor is
one of the most beautiful hotels we ever stayed at. (We have been travelling together all over the world once a year since 2001!) Altus and Leche are perfect hosts, the staff amazing. Thank you all for making
Our stay unforgettable.

Definitely a high-end option but no doubt the money goes into the facilities and giving you an exceptional experience. Personalised touches were impressive including a bath ready and waiting day two after noticing I'd had one the first day, and special Christmas Day dinner arrangements made just for me as a solo traveller. All staff were terrific, but my driver/guide Peter was absolutely a highlight - exceptional skills (wet weather made some of the driving quite challenging) and knowledge as well as delightful company.

Four days/three nights timed right in the middle of our other stays in different (wonderful) tented camps: it was still a very nice interludium to have in a solid building and accommodation in the middle of an age old excellently kept opulent garden and coffee plantation ! Excellent accommodations, very spacious room and ensuite and a brilliant overview from our terrace over the plantations and Manor’s horses, the (guided tour in) the coffee plantation by one of the plantation managers is a nice plus (even for non-coffee addicts), the vicinity of the Ngorongoro national park is very accommodating. The warmly decorated lounge bar with open fireplace to start or end the evening while lingering over the day’s events is top. Our excellent guide Reginald tried his very best (with success) to avoid the crowded group safari places and did a terrific job. We enjoyed the impeccable service by our wonderful lady butler at the Manor’s restaurant, and the excellent chef and his kitchen team providing us with top notch culinary food. The wonderful treat on our last evening in the separate dining room, amazingly adorned for the occasion, with a lovely dinner ending in a wonderful and compelling African chant and cheers by the staff, is a lifetime memory.
