Ngorongoro crater was amazing, the views are stunning from the lounge bar area and the room balcony. Food was excellent, there was entertainment every evening before dinner. It seemed to be somebody's birthday every evening, the staff would all come out singing the national song and when they found out it was our honeymoon they sang a song for us...

The Ngorongoro Crater was my favorite stop on safari and the Serena made it that much more enjoyable. The food was very good and they had an excellent staff and a great attention to detail on the property. I was fortunate to be there on a full moon night and the view into the crater and the stars above made...

Every Serena property that I have stayed at has been interesting (I first stayed in year 2000). They are large, but they are constructed celebrating a local tradition in a respectful way or by utilizing geology or natural resources. There is always an emphasis on service and safety. The appointments are always nice. What I loved - The architecture of...

Excellent stay at the Serena Ngorongoro. Hotel position is incredible with excellent views over the crater, it is the perfect starting point for a safari. Room itself was clean and spacious. It gets a bid cold at night, so they kindly provide a hot water bottle to warm up the bed in the evening. The hotel had good facilities and...

Stone structure of hotel blends into landscape on rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. Incredible location with unobstructed views on the west side. Upon arrival we received a warm hand towel and fresh juice. The room was well appointed, comfortable and had an incredible panorama view of the crater! The bar and restaurant are warmly lit by two wood fireplaces and...

I wish our stay at this hotel was longer. This is one of the few hotels overlooking the crater with the most amazing views looking down into the crater. I love the interior of the hotel, very stylish and artistic. Rooms are clean with modern amenities and nicely decorated. Staff are friendly and helpful. Would definitely like to return.

Ngorongoro does not have much choices - and this would do for 2 nights. It's a bit old, food is average. Nothing to rave. Views are good. It is very chilly in August so make sure you wear warm clothes. There is NO heating in the room.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Perched on the jagged rim of the crater, wreathed in morning mist, camouflaged in river-stone and cloaked in indigenous creepers, the Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge is a triumph of ecological and architectural fusion. Sensitively constructed so as to take nothing from its environment whilst affording endless vistas over the heat-shimmering reaches of the crater below, the clustered boulder-built buildings of the Lodge hug the crater rim, linked by rope-lashed timber walkways that skirt the buttressed roots of ancient, liana-hung trees. ... more   less
