I wish our stay at this hotel was longer. This is one of the few hotels overlooking the crater with the most amazing views looking down into the crater. I love the interior of the hotel, very stylish and artistic. Rooms are clean with modern amenities and nicely decorated. Staff are friendly and helpful. Would definitely like to return.

Ngorongoro does not have much choices - and this would do for 2 nights. It's a bit old, food is average. Nothing to rave. Views are good. It is very chilly in August so make sure you wear warm clothes. There is NO heating in the room.

We stayed at 3 of the Serena hotels during our safari trip in Tanzania. They were all good, but this one was the best. Amazing views of the crater. No picture of the lodge and it's surroundings can do it justice. With cooler temps around the crater, no need for mosquito nets - and very comfortable sleeping with the radiators...

Excellent views from our upstairs room. Would have liked tea & coffee making facilities. The double french doors cant be wedged open or closed when you are on the balcony and if the wind gets up they fly open. wasnt impressed with the dining arrangements. You keep the same table with your group but if you arent lucky enough to...

We recommend this hotel firstly for the amazing view over the huge crater of Ngorongoro. Few hotels in the world have this gorgeous overview. Not only the location recommends this hotel, but also the hotel itself: the rooms are nice decorated, very clean and the restaurant and the bar are very good. Not at least, the staff is friendly and...

This was a lovely hotel - the facility, the room, and the view. We didn't get the hot water bottles that others are referring to in their reviews, but still felt it was a great place to stay. The service was lovely, there was wifi throughout and it was a real bonus to overlook the crater. Additionally, there were activities...

One of my favorite hotels in Tanzania. Beautiful facilities, great views, good food, excellent service and very convenient location to explore the area. Need at least two days stay to fully take advantage of all there is to see.

Would not hesitate to stay here again. Staff were happy, friendly, quick with whatever you wanted. Rooms were very clean and bed was comfortable. Food was good. I would not say four star but it was plentiful and tasty. The bar was a great place to relax after safari with the amazing crater view to see where you had just...

This lodge gives you a marvellous view of the Caldera, great food and excellent service. The rooms were comfortable, spacious and clean - and they put hot water bottles in the bed. Lovely! The lodge is situated over 2000 metres over the sea level and app 600 over the crater, and the evenings in October is a bit cold. But...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Perched on the jagged rim of the crater, wreathed in morning mist, camouflaged in river-stone and cloaked in indigenous creepers, the Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge is a triumph of ecological and architectural fusion. Sensitively constructed so as to take nothing from its environment whilst affording endless vistas over the heat-shimmering reaches of the crater below, the clustered boulder-built buildings of the Lodge hug the crater rim, linked by rope-lashed timber walkways that skirt the buttressed roots of ancient, liana-hung trees. ... more   less
