Poised on the rim of the Ngorongoro crater, the Sopa Lodge is a great place to begin and end your day on safari. The view at both sunrise and sunset is almost mystical. Porters guide you in the mist along the walkways from the rooms to the main lodge, and hot water bottles heat your bed upon your return. This... More

A really lovely lodge. We went when it was quiet and enjoyed first class service. The views are spectacular and it has a very relaxing atmosphere. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. The rooms are huge so there is plenty of room. Recommended.

Typical Sopa Lodge, good staff, good food and overlooking the crater would could be better. I'd definitely stay here again. The dinner was service and not buffet, the breakfast was buffet with a good selection.

Very nice lodge with large rooms and great views of the crater. After spending 11 days on safari we had become accustomed to smaller lodges and tent camps. This was too large for our tastes. I believe there are 100 rooms. While we were there a bus load of 45 singles arrived, which destroyed the peace and serenity that we... More

The room we had was very comfortable with great views of Ngorongoro Crater. The food was excellent and the service was second to none. We loved our short stay there and hopefully I will go back sooner rather than later

This hotel is a bit of a long drive from the Serengeti but well worth it. It is bigger than the other hotels that we stayed in but staff were well trained provided good service and were accomoding. Wild life frequently roam the hotel grounds at night. The biggest advantage that the lodge offers is great access to the crater.... More

This is a wonderful lodge on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. Good food, good service, attention to detail and spacious rooms. Our tour operator True Africa booked this property for us along our drive route to the Serengeti, so I don't know the price we paid. But it was definitely a good choice.

A very intriguing place to stay for a few days to begin an African Safari. The crater is very unique and sitting on top of the rim of the crater was fascinating. Our first night coming out of the bar there was a Cape buffalo drinking from the swimming pool.

The best part of the Sopa lodge is the property's location on the crater rim combined with their friendly, genuine service and tasty food. Viewing the sunsets from either the comfortable lobby bar area or outside deck was a rich experience. And being just a short drive from the park entrance made for a less crowded start to our safari... More

I was lucky enough to stay here for 2 nights on a safari. The lodge was amazing - able to watch the beautiful sunsets from either the pool or sunroom attached to my room. Food, service and awesome surroundings. Don't think twice about staying here - totally worth it.
