The rooms are nice, but they really are very basic - no extras. However, everything is in good shape, and the grounds really are beautiful. If you want a place where you can just relax and enjoy without necessarily leaving the property, this is a great place to consider.

Watch carefully as you exit the highway it comes up quickly!! Hotel was good. Rooms clean, however the junior suite upgrade was not worth it. Be a little careful, Hotel had real issues with billing, and tried to charge me twice for a prepaid room booked online. Great coffee in the morning at the lobby and friendly staff.

Really nice hotel. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The Mision is beautiful, the grounds are very peaceful and relaxing. Stayed in room 127, room 126, 127, 128, 129 & 130 are really cute, like mini Misions.

Will be back.

We just returned from 3 nights stay in Mexico, Queretaro, Hotel Mision San Gil, km 172. The Hotel is beautiful old style Hacienda – big walls and very, very nice setting. The property is over 200 years old and the Hotel operates for 45 years. The staff is extremely friendly and the service is very good. They have an excellent restaurant on their property. The rooms are a bit different depending which one you get with some just lovely remodeled and some a bit worn. We came for a family wedding which was on Saturday night. We (2+2) checked in the night before and checked out on Monday morning. The idea was to enjoy the peace of the Hacienda, maybe go to the pool, relax from the big wedding party etc….On Friday very late we came from Mexico City with a rental car – don’t do this if you have a choice. Take the bus!! Lessons learned it took us for ever to get out of the City – stop and go for 2 hours and then another 2.5 hours drive. OK, finally we checked in room 103 which was very nicely remodeled. Laid down at 3:30 am and could not get ANY sleep: The property is 20 meters next to the autobahn. You can almost touch those trucks coming by in about 40 seconds frequency and most of them shifting down in lower gear right in front of the Hotel. Also, this room is close to the lobby and they started talking, walking, music at about 5:00 am. Anyway, we did not get any sleep. After talking to the Manager who was very friendly and helpful we got another room # 131 for the next 2 nights. It was away from the lobby but you can just not escape the autopista – what a shame for this magnificent property!! The traffic slows down on Sunday morning at about 1:00 am and is fairly ok until about noon. The next night Sunday to Monday we tried cotton in the ears and I put my noise canceling headphones on top of it but still couldn’t sleep. So, if you happen to go there go on Saturday night, have a long Mexican party until 4:00 am in the morning, drink enough tequila and sleep in on Sunday and leave. Alternative stop by for a Sunday brunch but do not expect any peace their as you will constantly be surrounded by the extreme loud noise of passing trucks and cars. Also, if you are used to clean air you will need some menthol drops to clear your throat. Again, it really is a pity to have this beautiful, large old style property downgraded by this autopista. For us a Hotel in general needs to enable some sleep – which was just not possible – so 2 stars rating only.

Even though the hotel is beautiful, it is extremely old and neglected; the rooms are in a very poor condition, specially the bathrooms. It comes to a point when even though they make a good job at keeping the place clean, it is so old and neglected, that it also seems dirty. I wouldn't recommend it until whomever owns this place makes a real investment on it.

Terrible customer service and administration. When I arrived at hotel they did not respect my Expedia reservation and fraudulently asked to pay a different price of the night's stay. Once I received my statement and realized I was charged twice, once by Expedia and the hotel. After speaking several times with supervisors they agreed to provide a refund as they admitted it was their fault! After several weeks they have failed to do. They have not return my calls or emails, after they stated they would... on several occasions. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!

I had the terrible idea of going to this hotel for a weekend escape with my mother (72 years old). It was extremely disappointing from the minute I arrived. We were poorly treated throughout to the point that at the end of night 2 I was informed that 'as the hotel had emptied after the long weekend' I had to move to another room, because the hot water was being shut down in my block of rooms. The booking conditions were not honored. I arrived earlier and was quickly brushed off by the 'Manager' (who said the room was full so I had to leave because the room was not ready! He never offered us not even waiting by the pool or in one of their many lounges). I took it cool and took my mum to the movies. I returned at four pm and even then I had to wait for 30 minutes for the room to be ready. The room was in shabby condition. The air conditioning unit never worked. It was super noisy and possibly a health hazard. There were 2 old beds and a table...with no chairs. I called the reception for a chair and they took 3 hours to produce one. We needed 2. The toilet wouldn't flush and the towels were falling apart. We headed to the pool area and I asked a waiter to sell us fries and 2 pina coladas. He said they were out of snacks (at a snack bar!) and brought us 2 tiny plastic cups (10 ounces each). The waiter demanded payment of US$10 there and then and said that 'I didn't have credit with the hotel' (something the inept receptionist never bothered asking me!). I handed the waiter my credit card and asked him to open up a voucher for US$30 for my stay (it was 2 nights anyway and apparently everything was paid). When he returned, he told me that 'an error had been made' and that my card had been charged US$150! After that poor experience, I went to buy medicines and mosquito repellent at their little convenience store. I had about US$20 worth of merchandise and when I tried to pay with my card I was told that they didn't take cards. I asked them to charge it to my room (a huge voucher had already been opened anyway) and they said that the shop was 'cash only!'. At breakfast I had a similar distressing experience. We were told that 'my booking's breakfast consisted on a continental breakfast and not the buffet' something that was never informed to me. I was charged US$15 for 'the difference'. That day, the room was not made until nearly 5 pm. Really poor service all in all and I am never returning back to this facility ever. I hope the charge made to my card is corrected, because this was really a terrible experience.

I stayed here because we had an event at San Gil and the location was very convenient. The rooms are out of date and bathroom is quite small. The pool needs some maintenance and the water was a little bit cold. The gardens are really beautiful and very well preserved.

So we stayed in San Gil for a night because Juriquilla was full.. I was upset at first, but once I got there and saw the property, I was happy.

So we first walked in and I was happy to see a bunch of Dia de los Muertos decorations. We were greeted promptly and cheerfully at check-in and then taken to our room. The room was nice and clear, which I appreciated. Bathroom a little small, but the water pressure in the shower very strong which is hard to come by so a big plus.

The hotel was holding a contest for the best Day of the Dead Altar. Each division of the hotel (sales, maids, cooks) had to create their own altar and then the guests got to vote. I thought this was such a great idea! I loved looking at all the different altars around the hotel. There were a lot of other holiday decorative details around the property which added a nice touch and personality to the hotel.

I have to say the best thing about this hotel is the food. They have buffet for Breakfast-Lunch-Dinner and also a very very nice selection on their menu. I got the Chicken stuffed with Chorizo with Provolone Chipotle Sauce-- exquisite. The chef was walking around and came over to check on us. They also have a nice bar with a pool table in another wing of the hotel.

The property was big and green. They had bicycles, mini 4-wheelers, a climbing rock wall and a zipline. I didn't see anyone do the rock wall but I saw people soar across the pool and property on a zipline! I wasn't brave enough to try it. The property, to my surprise, does have a palenque (where they do cockfights). I would loveeee to see this sometime, but doesn't look like it had been used in awhile. They have a really large conference/hall area. The pool is a little small, but the kids didn't seem to mind. They also have a playground. The pool looked like it had a bar, but it wasn't open.

Overall I liked this hotel. It is close to San Gil, which had a lot of Day of the Dead activities, so I think it was a great choice. It looked like an old hacienda, with it's own personality and charm, it is better than your standard chain hotel.
