If you plan to cross the Belize border or have a car and do not necessarily want to stay in town, this hotel is a great option!
Parking up front and friendly welcoming staff (+ taking Covid measures seriously).
We got a nice and cute room close to the lagoon (no mosquitoes en November 2020).The garden and pool is very nice. Not much (or nothing) to do around but 15min away by car to Chetumal.
We had a great breakfast (included)
Top value!

I arrived late at the border and didn't want to drive to Chetumal at night. I looked at two other hotels from outside for the same price, but here I found the best. Small, clean room, nice bathroom, very good WiFi, AC. In the garden beautiful pool, view of the Laguna, good breakfast. Closed area for the motorbike. What more do you want after a long day? Tip: Book directly.
I couldn't find a restaurant, so I had to eat tacos "on the street".

Didn't enjoy my stay this time as there were parents and children in the pool in the courtyard (which all rooms face onto) splashing and shouting and laughing till almost midnight. Although spoke to staff twice and the family ourselves, the noise continued and was not dealt with. The 3 of us were tired and disappointed that this spoiled our stay. Perhaps close the pool at 10pm....?

I was very disappointed as they advertise no fee charges for bookings but when I checked my account I realised that they charged me half of the fee. I contacted them and they told me that was to secure my booking... I cancelled but I haven't received my money back yet.

I do recall staying in a worse place when we were stuck in a nowhere town in China a few years ago. However, Hotel Lagoon is a close second.

Bugs everywhere in the room. TV set from the 50's that didn't work well. No place anywhere nearby to eat. One very yellow towel for each of us. Bed was so scary I didn't want to sit on it.
Pool the size of a large hot tub with questionable water color.
Needless to say we weren't there more than 20 minutes.

We stayed at this hotel on the way to San Cristobal. Cute, beautiful, clean place with a great energy -- very nice touches, beautiful lagoon, rooms are comfy and super clean, modern yet Mexican quaint. Not a lot of things nearby, but that is to be expected with a hotel that is meant to be a lovely oasis between your travels. Highly super recommend this place.

I cannot comment on other peoples' experiences; however I did not see or experience any of the issues raised in the previous review.

I found the rooms to be clean and well presented. The towels were fresh and clean, presented with a bow tied around them. The tv was lcd, air con and complimentary bottles of water in the room too.

The swimming pool was clean and the gardens were sublime and well tended.

The hotel is not based in the town but is conveniently situated en route to and from Belize.

The staff are friendly and attentive and overall the hotel has a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

If you're looking for a friendly, relaxed place to stay, then this hotel is for you.

A group of 4 of us and 3 dogs stayed at this beautiful hotel near the Belize border. Short drive into Chetumal - security and cameras, very safe place to stay. Lovely garden, peaceful, swimming pool and views onto lagoon, very private. Reasonably priced and lovely rooms. Staff very kind and helpful. Will definitely stay again. Thank you!

We got to Chetumal pretty late and we didn't want to be driving around so late in in night. It was kinda confusing since there are two hotels beside each other so we didn't know which one to pick. So we for this hotel which looked more friendly and nice. Wasn't disappointed, kinda neat to have breakfast outside with everyone sitting together.

Room Tip: Ask for the room at the end, has the best view of the lagoon especially in the morning

If you are high maintenance and need amenities galore this place isn't for you. However if you are realistic and want a clean room with a decent bed after a long day of travel then this is the spot. Staff are very nice, the dog That lives here will give you kisses like your dog back home. It reminds you of any motel you are used to. It is close to the Applebee's in Chetumal, the free zone and border with Belize. Perfect! And a great value!
