This place is a hidden oasis, just minutes away from Chetumal in a safe, charming country atmosphere. Room had mini fridge, coffee maker, A/C, jacuzzi tub, large closet space, huge bathroom, TV, Internet, hammock, welcome robes, plenty of lighting and shutters/curtains to keep the morning light out. Private balcony, There are several restaurants, neighboring hotels, gas stations, souvenier shopping, and local eats in the area. The hotel is tucked away on beautiful grounds with wildlife, a church, pool, jacuzzi, and many other amenities. The room itself was a grand space with all the necessities thoughtfully available. Chetumal is a beautiful city; if you are looking for a getaway, reserve right away! We almost did not book here due to lack of recent reviews - Always remember that people usually post reviews either if they had an awful experience or a great one! We will definitely return!

We were looking for a get-away over Christmas that allowed dogs - we could not leave our little pooch behind! Comfortable room and bed, with great jetted soaker tub in room. Quiet off the highway location, with pretty groomed lawns. Good swimming pool.

The location is FAR AWAY from the city. No restaurants or services close by. The "included breakfast" has two simple options. Anything else is charged. See actual pictures of the site and make your own conclusions. Nothing against the owners but the price they charge doesn't reflect what they really offer. See for yourself.

We had a two day stop over in Chetumal and luckily picked this spot. The lush enormous property, the beautiful pool, large lovely rooms with private balconies plus the most helpful, welcoming staff made this a wonderful respite. The hotel is just reopening after having to close during the pandemic so is not back to full service yet e.g. continental breakfast (included) but no restaurant or bar services yet. It is about a ten minute Taxi from downtown Chetumal and about 25 into Bacalar where we spent a lovely day. We brought take out back to the hotel where they kindly set an outdoor table for us and heated the food. Then the manager Adrian drove us to the airport. I can’t say enough about this hotel and only hope it can build itself back as it certainly deserves to.

It was booked the room with 2 beds for 3 adults trough the booking.com. When we came staff have took the payment as it was ordered but then they offered the room with only one bed because our room was busy. It wasn't acceptable to us and we have ordered the other hotel. The accaunter promised by the phone to make money back in one day. After 10 days we have came back to check the progress. Nothing was done. Now after one day more we are in negotiations with them with zero effect. Hope yet. Be careful.
But I haven't recieved the refund yet.

We recently stayed at the Mayan Secret Hotel Boutique in order to explore the beautiful Bacalar lagoon and its surroundings. Sadly this hotel is tremendously overpriced for the quality of the rooms. It advertises itself as a boutique hotel, and they charge you as if it were. Unfortunately, the hotel is in urgent of a renovation and get rooms and dinning area to the level they should have in order to charge the prices they are paying for.
Luckily, we didn't have dinner there, but went into town. Breakfast turned out to be horrible. The chef doesn't know that eggs need to be scrambled before putting them in the pan. The only nice thing is the location just outside of the city of Chetumal, and its pool area. All in all, a very disappointing experience.

I stayed here for two nights. Service was good, facilities old, however the worst part was after my stay. Turns out that they charged me twice for the stay and the breakfasts. When I called, the employee said there was nothing she could do and hung up the phone. Never stay here.

This is a great family owned and operated hotel. Great service, great room, great location and great people. The food was excellent and a full breakfast was included ! The only regret is that we could not stay longer ! We would go back in a minute.

Romantic, formal and classy-casual. Great for business and vacation. Beautiful pool, spa a business rooms for meetings. They really have such great attention to detail and are very sincerely friendly.

Mayan Secret Ecoturismo Boutique Hotel opened recently (december 2013) just beetwen the city of Chetumal and the heavenly lake of Bacalar. I had a great stay. Rosa, the Owner and Director warmly welcomed me. They are building a spa, which will be operating by the end of summer. And also, a gourmet restaurant should soon opened within the hotel. They offer a nice pool, spacious and confortable suites, and there is even a chapel within the hotel domain. All the ingredients to escape beaches resort and enjoy quietly the nature in Chetumal.
