As mentioned elsewhere, the rooms here are very basic with no real hot water, Internet or tv. However they were immaculate and cleaned every day. The breakfast was basic but tasted good (the mûsli was awesome!) Upon arrival I was wondering how we would cope with our 4 month old baby and our 2.5year old son but I needn't have. I strapped the baby in the Carrier and we walked to the beach nearby which has a child friendly entry and is relatively sandy compared to other beaches in the area. We even snorkelled a bit and saw some lovely fish among the corals. We all loved it. While arranging the same dinner for all guests at the same time is nice under normal circumstances, it did get a bit complicated here and there with the kids. But the Wait was worth it! Susanna is an amazing cook! I usually don't like to eat fish but here I ate octopus and tuna steak and it was delicious. …
I booked the place for 5 nights, staid 9. I was delighted with the people staying there, usually couples in their late 60s and 70s who travel widely for months. The breakfast, included, is excellent. I usually did not have lunch, just breakfast and dinner. The dinners there were super, very good quality, very well served. The price of the dinner is not cheap, in the range 1000 to 1250 pesos. There is a beautiful garden on a cliff overlooking the sea, with steps to reach the beach, which is rocky and, to me, not inviting, though my girlfriend liked it. There is a small walk (500 meters) to a more friendly beach. A nice sandy beach with restaurants and cafes is some 3 km away. The host/owner, Suzanna, is wonderful. Why the place is not for everybody: the rooms are basic, no air conditioning (though ceiling and regular fan were perfect during our stay), no television in the room, no WI-FI in the room (though it is available in the garden and in the dining facilities), no frigo, bathroom with a curtain, not a door. The hotel is 400 meters from the main road, connected with a good unpaved road.…
This is a small intimate place to stay at. There is no a/c but the fans provided is sufficient to keep you cool at night. I recommend you take mosquito/bug repellent due to the tropical environment they may be around the rooms The view is amazing because it is next to a cliff and you get to see the beautiful blue ocean. We went with ecotour barahona (Nico) which I highly recommend. We went during the low season so we couldn't experience the dinner but the breakfast was simple yet amazing. The inn keepers were very nice and catering. There is not much to do around the area within walking distance. But overall i highly recommend this hotel if you are planning to hike the mountains.
Our weekend was very good. Clean, basic, no AC room but two good fans. Continental breakfast ok. AWESOME dinner, excelent quality, excelent price. I really recommend to stay for dinner, better than go to a restaurant in Barahona for the same price. Susanna ( owner ) was really kind and attend to us all weekend long. 2.5 hours far from Bahia de la Aguilas.
As other reviewers mention, the food is greatest draw. All of the dinners were superb, particularlyt (but not exclusively) seafood. Reasonably priced wines are available as well. Considering the quality of the food, the meal costs were very reasonable. The grounds were great, on a headland overlooking cliffs and water in all directions. There is a beach a short distance away (much much better than the swimming available by taking the stairs down from the property). All of the guests sit around a long table and the place draws an eclectic crowd, we ate with different people at different times during the 4 nights we ate there - some europeans, some americans and Dominicans. The rooms are pretty basic. the beds are good. The cold water showers take getting used to. I don't know if it was because we were there in late January/early February but the whole area does not seem to see many tourists, which was fine for us. I would definitely recommend staying here.…
