Just got back from Dominican Republic, staying in a three bedroom 2 bath 3rd floor condo in the old building and the unti was immaculate and the is amazing with a full ocean view. Sure there are some potholes in the road leading to the place but they can't control that. Its perfectly situated in the best North Coast town of Sosua and a super market and the great Sosua beach very close by. Also Cabarete nearby. Highly recommend - book through Calisto Property Management. A+ all the way....

We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful property. It was very secure with security guards around the property at all hours. We would see them walking past our window surveying the area. It’s waterfront but is set back from the beach. We stayed in the building that is next to the beach and woke up to the sight of the beach and water every morning. It has two swimming pools… one is next to the property’s cafe and the other was an infinity pool next to our building. There is a local cafe serving Dominican and other various food while also being a poolside bar. The food was delicious. We were only 3 miles from major towns to visit in each direction. It’s next to Cabarete on the East side and Sosua on the West side. The apartment was spacious with large bedrooms and living areas. Plenty of hot water and good water pressure. We definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Sosua if you have a chance to book a rental here.

I will advise anyone to never book at this hotel. This hotel participates in the classical bate and switch model. There are 2 buildings, Phase I and Phase II. Phase ll is the newer building with the nice amenities, and the ones that they show in the advertisement. Phase l is the older building with the old furniture, leaking air conditioner, closets full of debris/stuff and the broken elevator. When you select a room, you ae basing it off the photographs you see, but when you get there they tell you that you "selected" the other building and their is no occupancy in the building you reserved. You are not given the option of paying upon arrival, (unless they changed it) so you pay in advance via credit card. Then once you arrive and see that you have been duped into paying for accommodations less than anticipated, they will refuse to refund your money and you are stuck with either staying somewhere else or settle for the old, crappy accommodations.

Nothing is grand about Grand Laguna Beach except the potholes in the road. The place is a shabby dump. It's shoddy and run down. Nothing is maintained. Grass areas are overgrown weeds. There are no lounges @ the beach. Few @ the pool. There are no real ocean views. Apartments are not maintained. First one we had nothing worked. Toilets stunk and were clogged. One shower did not work. Other had no pressure. A 3 BR penthouse with almost no closets. 1/2 filled by the owner junk. Water in the jacuzzi never changed. It was not a real water view. DO NOT RENT @ GRAND LAGUNA. OTHER CONDO DEVELOPMENTS ARE BEAUTIFULLY MAINTAINED AND LESS EXPENSIVE OR NO MORE EXPENSIVE. OWNERS DO NOT CARE ENOUGH TO MAINTAIN THE PLACE.

Ok guys I have to do right by this group of people . I gave them a marginal review in January . It was a fair and accurate view I think at the time HOWEVER, now they have corrected my complaints and knocked it out of the Park . SAFE, CLEAN , affordable . Great location . Actually they have THE BEST LOCATION. Good food , good drinks , good price . Great security . Gotta recognize victor on evening shift . When I asked for dinner recommendation he was relentless in tracking down the right spot . GO VICTOR . All was great and return soon. Thanks Grand Laguna for getting it right Mickey

The check in was very simple, the staff was very nice. We were in phase 1, which was comfortable. A two bedroom, full kitchen, balcony. The beds were comfortable and the cleaning staff was very attentive. One limitation of the condo was that the kitchen was very limited in supplies, i.e. drying towels, soap, the basics. We ended up buying some supplies and leaving them there. There are two pools, one small by the restaurant / bar and a larger one in Phase II. The restaurant was excellent, alot of choose from and cold beer... The beach was a quick walk down a path. Limited lawn chairs and quite wavy. Not great for kids to play in. Overall, was a great visit, the staff was friendly and quick to help for places and transportation. I would have liked to view Phase II, as it looked a little nicer, but just ran out of time. Great visit, would recommend a stay here. Not far from either place Sousa or Cabarette

Upon arrival this place looks absolutely wonderful. I visited Grand Laguna for 4 days with family and friends. Myself and 3 of my cousins stayed in the Villa with the pool and 7 more of our family and friends stayed in 3 other condos. The fact that we did not have any hot water for the first 2 days is minor compared to the experience I had by the time we left. When we arrived at the rentals we immediately wanted to lock our passports and valuables in the safe. The safe was a numerical code safe but we were unable to enter a code. when we went to the office the stocky male clerk told us that we had to leave a deposit to get the key to use the safe(should have known then that something was off). fast forward to our last day at the villa, we decided to rent scooters which we needed our passports to do so while grabbing my passport out the safe I decided to leave my gold necklaces behind for the simple fact that everyone in town is begging or trying to hustle you. When we arrived back at the villa later on that night, I went to put my passport back in the safe and when I opened the safe, just like that 4 grand in Jewelry had disappeared like some sort of magic trick. At this time I had to wait until the next morning to file a complaint because the rental office was closed. In the morning when my cousin and I went to the office, the same stocky male clerk who rented us the key was there. when we told him what had happened, he didn't even seem surprised, almost like he was expecting us. I asked him if there was a spare key which someone could have used and he swore to me that there wasn't and that we had the only key which I found out later was a Lie, that there actually was a second key but I didn't get this information until I got back home to the states. He told me that there were cameras at the entrance of the development that they could not check until someone came out to access the footage. But I already knew that there would be nothing on the camera because whomever robbed my Jewelry was already on the property. It was someone who had access to the spare key or who has an actual numerical code for the safe because the safe was not broken into, it was locked and the key slot which was up when we left was then slid down(will include photos). Also there are armed guards on the property(who were also very shady), I don't think anyone is stupid enough to break into a villa and risk being killed for a couple bucks. In other words it had to be someone on the staff. We had 2 cleaning ladies who came every morning of our stay except for the morning after my jewelry came up missing. There was also one security guard on the property who kept begging one of my friends for marijuana. After my Jewelry came up missing i just started to think back from the day we arrived and when I started to think, I believe we were being watched the entire time by the staff. everyone on the staff saw me with jewelry on and knew where we were staying, they just waited for the perfect opportunity.... also after all this happened, when some of our friends were checking out, the same clerk started accusing them of having a single missing towel from their room and tried to charge them SMH.With that being said I never got my Jewelry back or even heard back from anyone since. The experience at this place put the saltiest taste in my mouth, I'm not even sure if I will ever visit the island again and if I do I will definitely will not be staying here. STAY AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Hello MrAllFax, thank you for taking the time to leave your review. I am aware of your report about your lost jewelry. I find it very inappropriate to use your review as an opportunity to accuse our staff. Please just consider for a moment that our staff are innocent. You have now unrightfully publicly accused innocent, hard working people. This is very unfair, and an abuse of the review system. We took your theft claim very seriously and spoke with everyone involved. My wife spoke with you a number of times about it. Our queries led us to a conclusion that you disagreed with, however, it is not true that we were not in touch with you. You are now publicly attacking my staff and team and I take that very seriously. You describe in detail the gentleman who checked you in and with whom you spoke, you describe the guards on site and talk about two cleaning ladies. The suggestion that staff were watching you from the time of your arrival is unfounded. We have over 35 condos that we rent. Our staff are there to take care of our guests and assure all of their needs are met. To see this as anything but friendly and supportive is incorrect. Clearly, in your review you have decided not to mention the local man you hired yourself to take you around town who spent a lot of time with you, or the local ‘guests’ that you decided to have spend time with you at the Villa. You did not describe their character. I can't help but feel that it is much more reasonable to accuse these local strangers that you opened your Villa to of the theft. Do you really trust that you were able to keep track of them at all times? We have been open and in business for five years and our reviews generally reflect the quality and dedication of Grand Laguna Beach and all off our staff. Security is provided by a well known agency with a great reputation who also randomly drug screen their employees. Grand Laguna Beach is a safe and secure community, but we cannot be held responsible for guests who recklessly host locals who they do not know. Since the time of your visit, we have added security cameras around the Villa itself, allowing evidence of who comes and goes, while still allowing privacy for our future guests. This is to ensure that we never have a situation like this again.

Well i want to be fair to this group but its hard. The structure of the building and cosmetic appearance is wonderful. The security is very solid (good job guys). The little Restaurant onsite is more than adequate. They have great breakfast and dinner is good. Pools are nice beach is close and nice. Thats where it ends folks. I had the penthouse and another room. COuld not even get more than 2 towels a day no matter how hard we asked. The young lady on the front desk was trying to be accomodating but she had not been trained and the others in the office gave her no assistance and threw her to the wolves. She finally she got so angry about not knowing what to do that she just through her hands up and said she quit. She eventually came back. THe office didnt have a printer that work. They didnt know how to run my credit card to pay for the room. I spent hours dealing with these issues while trying to enjoy my vacation. the new manager said give them another chance. cant risk it. Cleaning staff was nice. the place has potential if someone can take it before its reputation is destroyed to the point of no return. Opps forgot to say that when i checked in for my additional room that was not the penthouse suite..i was given the wrong room, it was double beds and not king and was not ocean view as purchased. just so many problems folks..better avoid this one

Hello mhrebel, thank you for your review and the positive comments about our building and security. Your complaints have merit. Unfortunately, during the time of your visit we were going through a number of administrative changes here at Grand Laguna Beach, including bringing in a brand new staff. During your stay, our new staff were a little overwhelmed and it showed in the quality of their work and their ability to meet our guests needs. Please note that all of our staffing issues are now resolved, our staff are second to none and fully trained and equipped to meet all of the needs of our guests. We take full responsibility and are very sorry for your inconveniences. If I had this brought to my attention during your stay we would have been happy to try and offer something to help make up for some of your frustrations. All I can do now is hope that you choose a return stay and let me help prove that your complaints have been resolved and to ensure you get a true idea of what Grand Laguna Beach really offers!
