Nestled on picturesque beaches, Meliá Punta Cana Beach Wellness Inclusive is lauded for its cleanliness and attentive service, with many guests experiencing personalized care from the staff. While the spa and beach amenities receive high marks for their serenity and beauty, some visitors note the scarcity of shade and aggressive upselling. The rooms are generally appreciated for their tidiness, though criticisms of maintenance and dated decor persist. Opinions on the hotel's value and atmosphere are split, with some guests enjoying the tranquility and others desiring more vibrant entertainment options.

We had a wonderful experience staying here for the week. We have had the most relaxing time and have had the best service from all the staff, especially José Acosta, who was so helpful and made our stay even more special! The room was large, comfortable and relaxing and the benefits of The Level were very valuable for relaxation and simplicity and all the staff were fantastic! We ate in most of the restaurants and the food was great in all of them. Lots of variety and very generous portions. The hibachi restaurant, Hokkaido, was a fantastic experience and lots of even more amazing food! The onsite spa YHI was very welcoming and we made use of the treatments throughout the week. All the staff were helpful and skillful and made every visit comfortable and relaxing. It's definitely worth a visit! The beach and pools are great, my only comment would be there is a limited number of beds and cabanas at the pools and clients put towels out to very early to book them for the day meaning it can be difficult to find somewhere to sit, especially where there is shade. There are signs saying that personal items will be removed if they are left unattended for over 30 minutes but we did not see this enforced. The staff at the pools and beach are very friendly and helpful. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would love to come back again soon!

Hotel's Favourite
In a nutshell - the best overall resort experience I've ever had! Collectively, our group of 6 unanimously agreed. AND WE WERE NOT LEVEL. Just regular guests. So many reviews on this site are from Level guests so we really had no idea before we arrived of the non Level experience. As we were there for two weeks (Apr 1-15), I'll start with the most important reason the resort is so wonderful - the staff! To start our day, my friend and I went to the Balance Bar every morning for coffee/tea/smoothies and a few little pastries. YANELITZA, the barista there was amazing and always happy to see us!!! I enjoyed americanos with the odd cappucino every now and then and my friend, Yvette, had English Breakfast tea. We also enjoyed the smoothies from time to time which were fresh and fabulous as well as some of the specialty teas made daily. Now that I'm home, I'm wondering how I can survive each morning without that joyous start to the day where we sat in a beautiful airy breezeway with a colourful companion - the resident peacock - who would stop by to visit from time to time. A huge shout out to YANELITZA, our morning saviour who was some days accompanied by Adriana who was also lovely. To note, on the day we left, Yanelitza met us with a surprise delivery of our smoothies to the lobby! After the Balance Bar, we headed back to our room to get ready to hit the glorious beach. Our rooms were so very close to the lobby in building 19 (ours was 1916 - 2nd floor room overlooking the main thoroughfare to and from the beach and lush landscaping including a little lagoon with pink flamingos and other wildlife). We loved the location as at night, all the entertainment took place there and the evening buffet was a one minute walk. The peacock mentioned earlier took up residence in a tree near the room so we said hello along the way. The beach and pool were a short trolley ride away. They ran continuously and the drivers were always friendly and helpful. If we didn't want to wait, we walked - and the drivers would stop to ask when passing if we wanted a ride. Back to the room, we had everything we needed. Comfortable beds and pillows, a well stocked mini fridge and a sweet, young cleaner who took great care of us. Never any shortage of towels or toilet paper - the basics for sure but these are things we have had to fight to get at many other resorts. Beach towels were never an issue and if your towel went missing, the helpful staff at the front desk went out of their way to ease your mind and provide a new card. Customer relations at the resort were also amazing - Antonio and Armondo and several others truly went above and beyond to ensure we had the best guest experience. My friend will elaborate in her review on her interactions with both of these gentleman and others as she was their direct point of contact. The beach was our main retreat throughout the days and the pool from 5-7 pm was a great respite for our five o'clock Cosmo. Although there was some seaweed, it never hampered our ability to swim. The men on the beach worked tirelessly in the hot sun to clean it and we were in awe by their efforts. If you can, please show them some appreciation - they have very little. Beach chairs were never hard to find but a hut was more difficult...by noon, we could usually nab one but some days were harder and later than others. Activities at the beach and pool were many and varied such as mud cleansing, Pilates, yoga, dance lessons, spin bikes in the pool, aquafit, painting, paddle fit you name it! More about the animation team below...much more! As for the food quality/quantity, everywhere and anywhere we ate was divine. We all agreed, the best of any experience we have had. The breakfast and lunch buffets at the beach, the food truck by the pool bar, the dinner buffet by the lobby and all the restaurants we tried (we did the Vietnamese, the International, the Mediterranean, Quimera (thanks to Antonio/Armondo) and the Hacienda. We loved each and every one. We could have eaten at a few more a la cartes given we were there for two weeks but the buffet was soooooo good, we didn't bother. The pasta chef at the nighttime buffet deserves a special shoutout...he was quite funny and went out of his way to make a great pasta. LAST BUT NOT LEAST IS THE FANTASTIC ANIMATION TEAM - a VERY, VERY SPECIAL SHOUTOUT to our great friends JAVIER (my future son-in-law lol) AND CLAUDIO who were just the best humans (NOT TO MENTION DANCERS) and who even organized a surprise birthday party for our friend, Theresa. It took place in the "Zen" room (as we labelled it) in the main lobby. They spear headed the event with one of the lobby waitresses, "Queen Moon" (Rena) independently. The management was on board and also there to greet us after dinner with Claudio, Javier, Rena, Ningel and Coca Cola (aka) with champagne and cake and the best rendition of happy birthday. Javier and Claudio even purchased gifts for our friend from the hotel shop. She was in tears...and we could not believe how they had gone out of their way to decorate and organize the event. These people deserve soooo much credit. In the daytime, this team also led many of the pool and beach events. They work so hard but always took the time to talk and hang out. Fun, smart, respectful, talented and professional. They truly made our trip so memorable and are the main reason we'd definitely return. The animation team was led by their tireless manager, Pablo, who was anywhere and everywhere - very engaged and respected by his team - the quality of the entertainment he procured was stellar from top quality musicians to singers to shows. He and the animation team had the lobby jamming and dancing through the night. Special mention was the Silent Party which was a first for us and probably our favourite event besides the Walk Around the Moon event - something we hadn't heard of before. So fun. We danced pretty much every night away in the lobby. Special shoutout to the night bar gents who were superb - the waitresses - RENA AND MODESTO, and others who we came to know and love. These lobby teams were simply amazing during the entire two weeks. Also, not to forget JOSE at the beach bar who was the BEST. He hustled day in and day out and stood out for sure. Finally, our waitress in the lunch buffet who was in the corner near the grill and bar. Her name escapes me right now but my friend Yvette will make mention in her review. Do not hesitate to book this resort. the demographic was young to old. It truly fits the bill as a wellness resort but so very fun at the same time - we came back rested and rejuvenated (although we made the most of each and every day and night...)! A few final points: The grounds are spectacular in and of themselves. We felt very safe - security team did a great job, The maintenance and gardening teams were superb - always at work cleaning and pruning and so very friendly. Overall, we felt very welcomed and pampered. I can't say enough. We cannot wait to return. We hope to see you again next year! THANK YOU ALL. Love from the Halifax, Nova Scotia gals: Lynn, Yvette, Theresa, Heidi, Carol Ann and Gwen

Stayed with the lower Level package and the service was worth the upgrade. Housekeeping for the room was fantastic as was the concierge for the room...Eddie. Nice beach, nice pool. Food was average resort food...okay, but not anything special. Cannot speak enough about the concierge, housekeeping and concierge service. Immaculate, lush and extremely soothing tropical grounds. Be prepared to walk as it is a big property. Highly recommend the Monkeyland and Saona Island tours.

Property outdoor grounds, pool, beach and SPA was maintained exceptionally well. "The Level" is the premium experience on the property but you will not get the "value" you're expecting for the money. We did not feel pampered. We were upsold on the Tomahawk steak dinner and after a 2 hour wait... the steak had to be sent back because it was extremely undercooked. We have stayed at several hotel brands over the past 6 years in the Dominican Republic. ie. Sanctuary Cap Cana and Excellence El Carmen and we will return as they are excellent all-inclusive properties. However: we will not return to Melia. if after this review you are still determine to go, I recommend requesting Alejandro Estrella as your butler. He is an asset to the Melia brand and will help navigate you through the experience at Melia Punta Cana Bench.

I travelled with Air Transat February 5-12 as solo 50+ female traveller. The Dominican Republic travel document is required when you check in and print your luggage tags. Do it at home, and save each one as a file on your phone. It was not looked at once I arrived in Dominican nor did anyone look at it when I returned. Once you get your luggage at the head to the lobby of the airport and meet the Air Transat rep, they will send you to the buses. If you want this would be the time to use a taxi, app $35 to Melia vs waiting for stragglers and stopping at other hotels. Check in was quick, I was not a level guest. My room as a solo traveller had 2 queen beds made up & the sofa as well into a bed. Not what I booked I returned to the front desk and requested a change which was done without an issue. I was in building 1, 2nd floor facing the little service road with a king bed. It was perfect, I was close to the breakfast & lunch buffet, yoga hut, and the beach. I was not bothered by the road as I wear sleep buds and loved having the sliding glass door open at night. Breakfast is excellent, lots of choice. Same with lunch. I am not a very picky eater and always had lots of choice. The breakfast and lunch area also has a grill and the beach bar. Yoga is in the hut just on the beach by the towel hut. They have a class at 8, 9, 10 is meditation, and yoga again at 5pm. The gym looked very good but well I did not go but it had all that you would need. The spa is excellent I had a massage and the whole experience is lovely. Wonderful nice pool in the spa they call it hydro-therapy like a hot tub. Can't say much about the shows as I did not stay for them. The lobby bar was quite nice and after dinner which is in the main lobby I had a drink and walked back to my room. They did have beach volleyball which always looked fun. Tuesday their is a mud therapy on the beach which was well worth it and a lot of fun. The walk from the lobby to my building right by the beach was 10 minutes but I walk fast. They do have golf carts that will take you but I'm impatient! The walk is lovely and their is a lot to see along the way with beautiful palm trees and wellness areas. Check out is at noon and if you have a late flight they will hold your luggage in the main lobby. You can have a shower in the spa or where you luggage is stored they have a full large private bathroom where you can open your luggage. The cafe which is by the dinner buffet has small sandwiches and cookies a good snack before the airport. The chairs around the pool & beach go very fast, a couple beside me left their towels on the chair at 7AM and returned at 2PM quite pathetic. The beach has a lot of the sea weed but they do their best to clean it up. You can walk down the beach and find other areas with less. I brought my snorkel but never used it as the water was too rough.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to review your experience. We are delighted to hear that you found the check-in process smooth and that your room experience met your expectations after the swift resolution at the front desk. Our gastronomic experiences, from the diverse breakfast selections to our lunch offerings, are indeed crafted to cater to a variety of tastes, and we're glad they added to your enjoyment. It's also wonderful to know that you appreciated the YHI Spa and its hydrotherapy pool, which is a cornerstone of our service culture. Juan Adbricoles and Jose Minaya were absolutely wonderful!!! They made us feel like family from start to finish!! There attention to details and looking out for us made the trip unforgettable.. The rooftop bar was a fun place to end every evening. The Juan’s “twins“ as we lovingly nicknamed them went above and beyond expectations!!! Again they made us feel like family!! Daniel was always around for trips upfront and we were never late thanks to him!! When you are on the beach find Hamles he will more than help you with anything you need. He was always around to make our week unforgettable!! For any off resort excursions look for Orlando at the towel area he will hook you up!! We came for the beach and were not disappointed but the entire staff made us feel like family and we will definitely be back!! We absolutely recommend leveling up to get the most out of the entire resort!!

I have just left after 7 nights in paradise. It was my first time the the Dominican Republic and in Punta Cana. I stayed in a Level Beachside Suite and my butler was the brilliant Luis Pierre 💪🏻. First time in my lofe to have a butler and he dealt with all my restaurant reservations, spa reservation, return transfer and many other things such as room service and general questions. He was extremely fast, efficient and friendly and made the stay even better. The Quimera restaurant was my favourite and overall the staff were overwhelmingly friendly. Always a smile and a hello, even when they were tired. The food quality was of a high standard for an all inclusive, the gardens were outstanding and the beach and pool equally beautiful and well maintained. The cheaper brand vodka served in the lobby bar wasn’t good for the stomach so I stayed away from it after a couple of days suffering. Other than that the place was faultless in my eyes and I had an unforgettable and deeply relaxing time. The spa was also splendid and the activities varied and unique.

So confused about this resort, along with the incredibly positive reviews. My partner and I have travelled down south over 30 times. The last time we went, we stayed at Secrets Royal Beach, and regret we didn't go back this time. We did our due diligence in reading the reviews and considering all the factors we were looking at. We are in our late 40s/mid 50s. The main draws to Melia Wellness--Melia name (as I have stayed at the Melia chain a number of times in Europe), the wellness factor, adults only, and reviews on food. Here's a breakdown, which hopefully help those considering this resort--which we strongly do not recommend! 1.) LEVEL VS. NON-LEVELl: -we were not level, as we did not feel that the benefits were appealing to us -we did, however, eat once at the Quiemera, and also had rooftop access (as courtesy due to the issues we experienced) -Quiemera was underwhelming...cold food, meat quality was not that great, very slow service -rooftop is lovely, but was never that 'full', and was not much of a scene (lobby is more busy)...we recognize that people like quiet, as do we sometimes, but it was just too 'boring', for lack of a better word -level pool side have better seating, but still did not seem like there was enough for even level guests -we only saw Skyy vodka, or cheap local alcohol.on the rooftop--no Titos or Grey Goose 2.) ROOMS/BEDS -absolutely HORRIBLE! -our first room (building 5) smelled horribly...mouldy, funky...I have allergies and could not last the night; bathroom sink clogged and smelled of sewer smell, overall bad room. Yes, we are in a tropical country, however, we have never smelled the mould and horrible smells in other resorts we have stayed at -poor AC--in the 1st room, it never went lower than 24 degrees in the room, so we were switched to another room -prior to staying in the room that we finally were given, we saw a few other rooms--same issue with AC, not going lower than around 23.5 degrees -our room also had this issue, but the maintenance came in and fixed it and then it was comfortable -horrible mattresses...the mattress in our 1st room was a normal mattress, maybe 5" thick...2nd room had pillowtop but was significantly sunken in the middle! -mattress was so sunken in, that there was an evident dip in the middle...despite management reassuring us they would change the mattress, we do not believe they changed it, and figured there was no point in saying anything as we were already feeling bad for asking to change from the 1st horrible room -weird closet area....no doors, just a curtain -OUTDATED rooms! These rooms were so outdated...furniture chipped, dim lighting, torn towels -showers were pathetic--cold water around 5pm every evening. Maybe others were also showering at the same time, but this is supposed to be a 5 star resort. The water pressure was ridiculous. Poor water pressure from both the rainfall showerhead and handheld shower 3.) DRINKS--horrible. Nothing positive to say here, other than that the Coke Zeros' were actually fizzy. My partner and I typically drink wine, sometimes (if on vacation), I may have vodka. I tried a few different 'fun' drinks, which were all so undrinkable. The alcohol used tastes like one would imagine methanol to taste. The wine was like vinegar. Again, we recognize that all-inclusive resorts may not have the best quality wine, but still...the drinks were horrible at this resort. Hence, we resorted to drinking Coke Zeros'! In comparison, we visited another resort for the day, and their vodka actually tasted normal! 4.) FOOD--hit and miss. I did enjoy the dinners at: Muoi, Mar de Sol, Calthea, BUT the food took forever to come. I know, we're on a resort and have time to spare...but more than an hour? When we did get the food, the persentation was lovely and the flavours were on point for most of the dishes. The temperature was also off. Sometimes nice and hot, most times room temperature. Same at the buffet. There was always something to eat, but it got boring after a while. They had a lot of options that catered to their 'wellness' brand, i.e. salads, roasted veggies, fish, grilled meats, etc. But having just a lunch buffet as an option was boring. After eating our dinner at Quiemera, I'm not sure how much more exciting lunches there would have been...pool had a snack bar where they made ceviches, nachos, wraps...some days there was pico de gallo and avocado, some days none, some days pico but no avocado, some days avocado but not pico, some days shrimp, some days no shrimp--see where I'm going with this! This was also the case with some of the menu items at the restaurants. 5.) ENTERTAINMENT--hit and miss. Great acrobats show in lobby one night, and some dancing other nights. The sports bar, Muse, had karaoke one night, which was okay. Okay meaning at least there was something to do, but why not have it in the main lobby where more people could watch or partake? This sports bar looked like it had ever been renovated since the resort opened up in the 90s! 6.) SPA--we had a couples massage here. It was serene, relaxing. Nice to break up the day. But I don't know if I'd want to go all the way to the spa everyday (if staying by the beach) for a massage, as people in Level were able to do as part of their package. 7.) GROUNDS--lovely, and beautiful. Trolleys were quite frequent, so we never had to wait more than a couple of minutes. But it was too much of a distance. So, although we wanted fresh smoothies and coffees from the Balance Bar, it seemed like too much of a hassle to get into a trolley to go all the way there and then back to the breakfast buffet/beach/pool area. 8.) STAFF/MANAGEMENT--for the most part, people were lovely. Some looked a bit sad or rarely smiled, which was not what we were used to (from other resorts). We like to smile and say 'thank you' as often as possible, but some staff would ignore us or our attempts. Which was fine--I am not sure how friendly I would be if I had to pick up after people all day long! When we addressed our issues re: room, AC, etc. to manager Keren, she was lovely in trying to accommodate us. She really did work hard at trying to make things better. But the reassurances that the AC would work in a couple of hours were inaccurate...it took over 12 hours. This worried us, as we already had a sleepless night so we did not want a 2nd sleepless night! After contacting Sunwing Cares, Keren offered a couple of things to us, which was kind of her. She also assigned Concierge Zully to us, to address any issues and provide us with help/support (i.e. making dinner/spa reservations, Bali bed reservation, etc). There are no words to explain how amazing Zully was. She deserves recognition for supporting us. Both Keren and Zully were amazing and are such dedicated employees. They really went above and beyond, yet they cannot salvage the Melia name. 9.) BEACH/POOL--the chair game is STRONG. Ridiculous. We saw people put their items on loungers at night. Oops--maybe we removed some towels. This is unfair. My partner would leave the room at 7am to try and secure spots, only to find all were already taken and occupied--with no one sitting/laying on the loungers. Apparently, Melia staff are supposed to take towels/items off after 30-40 min of it being unoccupied. We never saw this happen. People should be embarrassed. We are on vacation, relax, don't dominate spots! Pool was nice and long...but dirty at times. A bit cold, but we understand it's an older resort and it's hard to heat pools. The beach was nice. Some seaweed, but not as much as in previous years. People do not bother you on the beach. You can just politely so 'no', and they walk away. No drink service on the beach, unless you're Level. Ridiculous. Whether or not you're level, you are paying to be there, so you should get some service! 10.) GYM--we actually use gyms at the resorts we stay at. This gym is so outdated. Yes, it has basic treadmill, ellipticals, bikes--no spinning bikes. It is so small and looks like a Holiday Inn hotel gym. Never that full. This is a wellness resort, please invest in a nicer gym! And change the 1 apple that had been sitting on a tray all week long--poor green apple kept deteriorating all week long--lol. OVERALL--we would NEVER go back to Melia Wellness. It was not worth the amount of money we spent here. We have spent less at Secrets Royal Beach, and other resorts, which we felt was worth more than what we spent at Melia. Unfortunately, this resort is too outdated and has not caught up with the times. There are many, many, many other resorts to choose from. We do not recommend choosing a resort that has not been renovated within the last 10 years. The mould in this hotel--again, not just in our 1st room, but even some mouldy smells in the 2nd room--was unbearable. AC maybe an issue, depending on your room. It just does not qualify as a 5 star resort. Maybe 3.5. We are not convinced that we had this experience because we were non-Level guests. This is because we did have some 'level' like experiences given to us, due to the issues we faced. Therefore, based on our experience we do not recommend going here. You are better off going to the newly renovated Riu Palace Macao, or Secrets Royal Beach. If you do still go, lower your expectations, take your own liquor/wine, and try to enjoy yourselves!
