The Ocean Blue and Sand Beach Resort garners positive remarks for its cleanliness and friendly service, though some guests feel there's room for improvement in housekeeping and staff responsiveness. While the rooms are appreciated for their size, issues with maintenance and air conditioning are noted. The resort's atmosphere is lively, with a range of entertainment options, although it might be too noisy for some.
Its prime location near Punta Cana is a highlight, as are the amenities like diverse dining and beach access. However, guests have called out the value, finding it pricey for the offered services.

Detailed Reviews
Hotel's Favourite
This is a very long and detailed review but its the honest truth about all the factors. Had a brilliant relaxing holiday. I’m only telling what i experienced. I stayed for two weeks 19/07/23 - 02/08/23. I travelled with Tui from england. I didnt stay as a privilege guest. Pinky the flamingo is my idol.
Privilege - a bit of context: I came with TUI and I’m from England. We stayed for 2 weeks. We didn’t get the privilege package. This holiday was a lot of money for the standard room, we payed for a 5 star hotel, all inclusive. The issue: it shouldn’t be called privilege. It means they’re more important than other guests because they paid more ,for that package even when those other guests who haven’t paid for that package have already paid a lot of money for the hotel as well. It felt incredibly bias. Most of the privilege advantages didn’t really affect us. We didn’t need them. The private beach and sun beds with the bar didn’t matter as you could get that on the main beach. It was also where the entertainment was so thats a postive aobut the main bit. Also their private bit didn’t have direct access to the water. The lounge didn’t matter as you could still use guest services. Check in and out in reception wasn’t busy for us. No queue. Had brilliant wifi connection. And the other postives as well didnt matter either. It was a luxury that I’m glad they got but we just didn’t need it. Like shoe shining or jacuzzi in their room. However the issues I had with the ‘privilege’ was you couldn’t get certain buggy’s even if they had space. The buggys should be available for everyone. They also got a newspaper delivered to their room telling about the specific activities going on that day. This wouldn’t be an issue if it was accurate on the app. However it wasn’t. It wasn’t specific on the app like the paper one. The paper one included what would happen if there was rain. This was the biggest issue over the smallest thing. Make the app accurate if not give everyone the daily activity plan. Everyone should also be allowed to reserve places on the app instead of having to queue. It felt very bias and felt very dis included even though we too paid a lot of money
Entertainment - so many incredible things to say about this. Animation team 10/10. They work so hard and have so much energy.
morning - from about 10 to 11:45 am, the animation team were on the beach. They would do a dance class and games, very fun and entertaining. 12 pm was aqua aerobics which was so fun. Once a week there was a pool party. Dj played music. Loads of foam. Animation team played some games. Every day at 2:30 the animation team would come to the pool side and do their dancing to ‘follow the leader’. They would then announce what was happening around the resort in regards to entertainment for the rest of the day. At 3 the animation team did a club dance activity, even though I personally didn’t take part, it was enjoyable listening to the music being played. Loads of people also At 4pm there was a crazy game, this was always very funny and entertaining. People got involved whether they were in the game or watching from the pool. At 5pm there was another dance class. I love how they mixed the culture of Dominican republic dancing with enjoyment for guests. In the evening at 7:30, there was bingo. I was usually at dinner, but if we did catch it, it was very good and well organised. Myself and this lady both got bingo on the last round. She went up first and got her prize of rum. They had ran out of prizes at that given moment. Black diamond told me to go to the show at 9pm to get my prize. I went because i was already planning to, i didn’t think i would get it but i didn’t mind as i was playing for the enjoyment. The presenter announced the winners and the music played. Black diamond was giving the prizes to the winners on stage and after the song he gave me my prize. I have so much respect and admiration for him. At 8:30 (more or less), the animation team were in the area. Usually boulevard but if it was raining then the lobby bar. They were choosing people to come up with them and dance. It was so lovely to watch. Even if people weren’t too sure, they managed to get them up and doing it. So friendly. DJ’s were incredible. 9pm everyone went to the theatre (unless told otherwise). Thats went the pre show happened. Loved this. Animation team brought people up. Very funny. Throughly enjoyed. The shows were decent. Some were very good. I stayed for 2 weeks and the only repeat in evening entertainment was the domincan republic show which was amazing both times around. So interesting. The other karoke which is an absolute classic. So fun. Dancing would continue after. Such a lovely vibe around in the evening. If it rained they also had another shedule. It rained one afternoon, we went to the lobby bar. It was one of my fav parts. The team had boardgames out for people to play. They also joined in. It was a lot of fun with a ring toss game, and dance lesson. A special mention to: Morocha (I apologise if I’m spelling her name wrong) was honestly so lovely and engaging. She’s incredible and really brings a lot of energy. She would always without fail, say hello. I only have the best and most positive things to say about her and the rest of the team. Black diamond as well. He was such a brilliant dancer, so engaging. I have a lot of admiration for him. He’s so friendly as well. Pokemon is also a legend. Very friendly and funny. Always checked up on us. I didn’t manage to catch his name, but he wore a black and white cowboy hat. He brought so much energy and was so friendly.
Pool - there were two main pools to choose from, I spent my time at the second one. Closest to the beach. It was an amazing pool that was able to cater for loads of people. It was an interesting shape, not just a classic square or rectangle. It had a ledge which enabled people to sit on. It also had sun beds that were in the water so guests could sunbath on. It had a side which you could walk in and gradually it would get deeper. It had water polo nets and a volleyball net. Loads of games were played. It has a swim up bar which as you got close to it got shallow to enable people to stand. There were also seats at it. Was very impressed with it. In the afternoon, entertainment would happen at the side of the pool. Music would also be played. Loads of sun lounges available. Never not got one.
Wifi - In the room and throughout the hotel, wifi was never an issue. It was always very reliable
Beach - given it was the atlantic, it could be quite rough. We got told not to go in too far. The animation team were down on the beach in the morning, it was a lovely atmosphere. Throughly enjoyed. If you want a sun lounger in the shade, get there early as they go quickly. Lots of seaweed, and it was all piled up. It also smelt a lot. A shop was on the beach and the towel hut. Never managed to not get a dry towel in the morning. Staff were friendly. However, we went there at 4:45pm to return our towels due to having a trip the next day, and it was shut. We never got told what time it would shut. It felt very early.
Buffet - the buffet itself was the nicest buffet I’ve been to. It got regularly cleaned throughout the service. They tried to have a variety of different cusine and most of it was really good. Although it was always the same sort of things. Some staff were friendly and really good. Some just poured drinks and left. Not everyone was friendly.
Route 66 - —— was brilliant. So friendly and nice. And the waiters in there were incredible. Service amazing. Food so good. Brilliant atmosphere. Definitely my favourite.
Steakhouse - had to queue in the buffet at 9am. Took 20 mins. Nice restaurant. Very busy. Not very good wifi so hard to view the menu. It wasn’t the best but wasn’t the worst.
Italian - very nice food. Drinks came really fast.
Mexican - staff weren’t very friendly. Food was good though.
Room - there was one day we didn’t have electricity. Maintenance had to come and fix it. Another day we didn’t have water in the room. Our hairdryer broke, we phoned and got a new one. Our safe also didn’t work on arrival, workers had to come and unlock it. The 0 didn’t work on it. Aircon worked tho. Lovely bathroom.
Privilege - a bit of context: I came with TUI and I’m from England. We stayed for 2 weeks. We didn’t get the privilege package. Ocean blue is a SOLID 4-star resort. My family of four (6 yr old, 10 yr old) just returned from a weeklong stay. The entertainment team, which included Mickey Mouse, pokemon, black panther, chocolate, and others, were fantastic. There was always something to do!! Loved the crazy Beach games and the nightly shows, good for kids and adults alike. The Michael Jackson show was impressive. My kids loved strike and the teen club, where they begged to go to play billiards, bowl, and shoot hoops. The food was good! We especially enjoyed the steakhouse, Route 66 and the Japanese restaurant and we loved the poolside BBQs. The coffee and ice cream shops were a great touch. We were very satisfied with the pools and beaches, layout great! Love the shallow areas of the pool, with in-water loungers, and 2 swim-up bars. The beach water was turquoise and sand was white. We spent a lot of time in the water and were not at all bothered by the sandbags (to prevent beach erosion).. they actually looked like rocks. I do recommend upgrading to privilege, if possible. The room quality and location was significantly better, and the services, which included private beach area with drink service and beach beds, private lounge, premium liquor, priority restaurant reservations, and exclusive a la Carte breakfast, definitely enhanced our experience. We were there for valentine’s day, and they made it very special with thematic events, decor and food. We would love to go back for Christmas!!! Don’t be deterred by the negative reviews...glad I wasn’t and will be returning to ocean blue and sand in 2021

We are just back from a week at this resort and we were impressed. There were 18 of us with children aged 7-18, young couple and seniors. We had a great time and felt safe and well looked after. The food was a solid 7.5/10 but if you were creative at the buffet, you could create quite good options. There was lots of seafood and a help yourself drink bar every meal. The a la carte restaurants were all very good and only the Japanese required a reservation. The staff were wonderful from cleaning ladies to security guards (which were everywhere: walking the perimeter of property, at beach, at gates). The staff were great with Pokémon and Mickey Mouse keeping the activities going at a lively pace. Pedro and Daniel were excellent in the restaurants. The pool is beautiful, the grounds full of lush vegetation and the beach has very little seaweed. We put passports in safe and left a laptop, google phone, Apple Watch and iPhones out and never had a problem. I didn’t even lock my jewelry away almost wanting to prove other stories false and nothing was touched. With security cameras outside rooms, I think you are very safe and will enjoy a holiday at this resort. We all had fun, little kids and teenagers, tired parents and grandparents. It was great.

We spent a week at this resort and it was a good time. The beginning was a bit bumpy because my luggage was dropped at the wrong resort. It was recovering very quickly though. The first impression of the resort was it was hopping with entertainment which happened every night and there was a incredible yummy smell coming from one of the restaurants called The Steak House. This is a must go to and if you sit inside you choose from the menu, but if you choose outside they bring you a variety of different food of a 3 course meal. It was all delicious. The food is good at all the restaurants as well as the buffet. We had a couple massage and felt we died and went to heaven. Bella and Joka (I know it is spelt wrong sorry) are magically. I highly recommend this experience.
The rooms were clean and nice. The bed was comfortable and you get 3 different pillows to choose from for firmness. All toiletries are supplied and the room was made up while you were gone and never bothered you. Entertainment is daily and in the evening and always different. Make sure you take part in the Beach Party you will have a good time. The 3 people of entertainment staff that really made it fun were Pokemon, Black Panther, and Mickey Mouse. They all interact with the guests and made sure you had a good time. The one thing I noticed is all the staff work so hard from cleaning, maintenance, food, and entertainment and very rarely saw anyone leave a tip. This is very sad. Please show your appreciation.

Do not wast your money on this place. Rooms are very outdated, musty smelling and dirty. Several people in our group had to change rooms due to the horrible musty smell and flooding from the air conditioning units. There are 7 restaurants on the property, however, they are not all open each night. Each night at least two restaurants were always closed, leaving very long waits. The alcoholic drinks at the pool bar are very watered down. Do not drink the water either! Do not even brush your teeth with the tap water. One of our families in our group even caught the cleaning people going through their things. Be very careful of what you leave out laying around in your room. The pool and pool area was nice, the entertainment at the pool and in the lounge at night were good. The casino ( if you can even call it a casino) only had 6 slot machines and a couple of table games and that was it. Please do your research to stay elsewhere before you stay here. I will not go back, nor will I ever recommend this place to anyone. We spent $6,000.00 to stay here and it was a waste of money. The only thing good about the trip was the wedding and the people we were with, but we all complained about the accommodations and all they did was apologize for the inconvenience.

Very friendly staff and eager to please. We love the Steak and Italian restaurants but the wait was very long. (over 1 hour) Three different restaurants were closed every night, making it difficult to get a table at the very small restaurants. I would recommend getting the privilege package. This gives you better chance of getting in the restaurants and top shelf alcohol. There is no alcohol and only 2 beers and soft drinks in the fridge per day. We didn't care for the buffet food but that seemed to be where they wanted everyone to eat. Beach was very small and not many chairs. If you need shade have to get to the beach or pool at 5 am to grab a chair with shade. Mike's Coffee is great but other resorts have the same concept and they are much better at all other food options and alcohol options without paying extra for privilege. It's a great resort and staff is great! I think its just poorly managed.

Dear Guest, Receive sunny regards from the Ocean Blue & Sand team. We'd like to thank you for choosing us as your holiday destination, and we would like to apologize if we didn't met your expectations. The reason why you could see an A La Carte restaurant closing one night, is because we do daily maintenance to make sure everything is up and running to our high standards, therefore, the buffet has a daily theme night reflecting the menu of the closed venue so our clients don't miss out on the opportunity to try our fantastic gastronomic variety. We hope you can give us another chance in welcoming you back soon, we are confident we will surpass your expectations! Cordially, Marisa RÃos Privilege & Public Relations Manager Ocean Blue & Sand

In a word Dissappointing! 28 family and friends attended my daughters wedding in January 2020. We were sold Ocean Blue & Sands as a 5* hotel by TUI UK. At best it is a tired 3*.
After a 9 hour flight we were subjected to over an hours queue at reception, in order to book in. 4 of our rooms allocated were of a poor tired standard and required changing.
Randomly 2 out of the 4 front restaurants were closed every night causing over a 2 hour wait for a table at peak times. We could see 5 free tables but due to a lack of knowledgeable trained staff they couldn't manage these.
We found the food in general to be poor for a so called 5* hotel. We found the buffet to be the best place to eat, with some excellent choices and associated staff services.
The evening shows and children's entertainment were good but some as advertised just didn't happen. The Ten Pin Bowling was tired with only 3 out of 6 lanes in operation causing further long waiting times.
Overall the hotel and grounds appeared clean and well maintained. The pool areas and bars were clean and tidy but cramped at times with limited free spaces, which could be an issue especially in peak season.
The beach was relatively small due to recent storms with high seas washing away the sand but it was clean. Most of the bar staff were very good and the bars are well stocked.
The Ocean Blue & Sands needs some major updating, which is ongoing and with extra trained staff in places, this would make a big difference to the quality of services provided.

Dear Guest, On behalf of Ocean Blue, we thank you for choosing us for such an important event, A La Carte restaurants usually leave out empty tables in case the clients inside take longer than expected dining, so the guests that reserved dinner at a specific hour are able to attend without waiting times. Regarding the closed restaurants, every week we close one out of the 7 restaurants to do maintenance on it and make sure everything is perfect for our guests and therefore, our Buffets have daily theme nights to reflect the menu of the closed restaurant to make sure our clients don't miss out on any of our fabulous menus. We would also like to thank you for the feedback provided, the only way that we can improve is with the help of our clients, and we work very hard to always exceed their expectations With that being said, we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again in order to redeem ourselves in your eyes and offer you a memorable experience. Sincerely, Marisa Rios Privilege & Public Relations Manager Ocean Blue & Sand

I cannot say enough nice things about this resort. The number one thing that stood out was the amazing staff. The entertainment staff (Pokemon, Mickey Mouse, Cherry, and Chocolate) were the most energetic, funny, welcoming, talented dancers that I've ever seen at any resort. They really care about you and want you to enjoy your vacation, and they put you in a great mood. In the main lobby, there are hilarious bartenders, especially Sexy Black, he sings and makes the best drinks. There's also Marino who works in the Piano Lounge Bar, he is awesome and very helpful. Last but not least, Isael, who does houskeeping, is amazing, he went out of his way to help my friend and I find phone charger outlets that could charge our phones properly. We really appreciated everyone here and it was sad to leave because they made our trip so special and made us feel like family.
As for the pools..
Really beautiful! 2 huge ones, very clean. Comfortable lounge chairs.
My only complaint really is that there's not much sand by the ocean, but I guess the water levels are up this year. Also the waves were too strong anyway so I didn't go in the ocean.
As for my room..
super clean, comfortable bed, nice towels.
As for the food...
There are 8 restaurants, a coffee shop, a late sports bar, an all day coffee shop, and a gelato icecream stand. You don't need to make a reservation for any of the restaurants except the Japanese one. Most resorts, you have to wake up super early to make a reservation or you won't get it. Also the Japanese restaurant has live entertainment and the chefs are hilarious. I tried all the restaurants except the french one and the food was sensational, very tasty, and the servers were so kind and professional. Large portions as well.

Ok so this is a little over due but I visited the hotel Dec 29-Jan 5 and had an amazing time.
Starting with check in everything was efficient, we got settled very quickly. We were introduced to our butler Cesar Espinal, who was amazing the entire week.
Our room was very nice, roomy and clean. Housekeeping was excellent the entire week with fresh towels and drinks always available. We were two teenagers and one adult in the room and didn’t feel cramped at all.
We really enjoyed the food options. The buffet has a nice variety and everything was always fresh. The restaurants offer a nice change of pace with great quality food and service. Being greeted in the morning by Christy Castillo was so nice. Despite there being so many people she made sure to make us feel welcome. We were privilege so we had the additional options of the beachside breakfast and making reservations at the restaurants, which made things even nicer. Sensai was particularly enjoyable, the food and the experience. A special thank you to Chef Roberto Alcala for making the best paella we have ever had and for Minimi for making it happen.
The pools are perfect, clean and refreshing. There’s a quiet one if that’s your thing or the activity pool, which is where we spent most of the week. Christina was so friendly all week. We travelled with another family, 5 teens and 2 adults. Christina made sure everyone was always well taken care of.
Saving the best for last, the entertainment. The whole team is amazing Minimi, Chocolate, Polin, Pokémon, Mickey Mouse, Marisol, Cherry.... thank you so much for making our vacation so amazing! There is always something fun to do, they are always so energetic and work so hard to make your vacation the absolute best. The kids had a blast with the daytime activities and the entertainment in the lobby and theatre in the evening was an excellent change of pace. NYE was nothing short of perfect.
I am already planning my trip back and hope to visit the resort and my friends a few more times this year. Thank you OBS for everything!

first great nice looking hotel, very clean grounds and staff where really good around the bars and lobby area. food the first few nights was cold but then it got better, lunch at the beach area much better but same food daily,
beach is ok bit sea weed but they do clean this daily,
music from the entertainment team was very loud during day and night and could have been turned down a bit, they worked hard but again same daily, no water polo or water volleyball ?
rooms we had a nice pool view room, however the cleaners are soo lazy they did not clean our sides where the kettle for making coffee or tea, the bath was not cleaned once, the floor was not moped, they did change the towels and bedding and no bath plug, also if you need milk ask at the guess services.
only one shop open please don't go in there as three times the price as if you go down the market much cheaper for the same.
it seems that they wanted us to upgrade and when I told them we was not interested they said they would lose there job just to make us feel bad, we still said no.
we then did not get bathed till three days till the end when the management ask and ask and asked when we said no he then tried to talk to us about timeshare that they have lots of hotel all over the world again I said no I would not stay in a H10 hotel again due to the pushing of this, he then walked off.
I had a massage wow it was good but cost 110.00 pounds yes 110.00 for a 80 min treatment.
spa room you had to pay for steam room if you wanted this shame really as they could do this free and maybe could have got more people using the spa and more business for them.
they had many buggy driving around which is really good taking you around from the pool to the lobby area or restaurants .
restaurant are nice, steak you got to pre book in the breakfast area that morning for night time. don't do the share one as its size for one and not two people.
we did do two trips the island trip and co co bongo both really expense but very good I will do a diffident review on them.
please asked me any questions and I will be open and honest. you don't need to tip any one we did at first but you get the same if you don't.
the pools are very clean and very warm and the sea is very warm but do watch out the the under water currant which can pull you.
I would not go back do Dominican but would try other islands
