We booked our airport transfers with Dominican Limousine and they were great. On time pick up each way in a Mercedes. We arrived at Mirage and were greeted with a glass of champagne and a cool towel. Within 20 minutes we were in our room and ready to start enjoying the wonderful resort.
Rooms are all 1,000sf suites which meant plenty of space for our clothing and to hang out. We appreciated that there were two bathrooms as it made it easier to get ready for dinner in the evening. We like to hang out very late on the beach so being able to have the extra space to get ready in the evening was appreciated. We had a swim up suite in building 7 (Room 7103). Our patio was directly across from the swim up bar closest to the main set of buildings. Although we were furthest from the beach, it was a short walk to the beach and very convenient to all the other amenities the resort has to offer.
Pools and the beach were great! No problem securing a palapa on the beach or bali bed near the pool. Despite the lower than normal occupancy, the staff did their best to ensure there were plenty of activities for us to enjoy.
Food was good with plenty of variety at the buffet restaurants. We particularly enjoyed the sushi at the Japanese restaurant most every night as an appetizer. The Italian and Steak House were our two favorites. The Sports Bar is open 24 hours and was awesome...we wish we had tried it out earlier in our stay. Good food and service there as well.
Finally, what really makes the experience special for us is how the staff treats us during the stay. I will honestly say that the staff at the Mirage was exceptional! Our Butler Dani went all out to ensure that if we needed anything at all, he would take care of it. At the beach, Reivin was our server and made sure that we always had water and our favorite cocktail. We made it a point to always settle in his area because his attentiveness and friendly attitude made us feel at home. Maid service was awesome. Very timely, always had fresh towels and of course we got the towel art and rose petal treatment while we were there.
Overall, I feel that we had a wonderful stay at an exceptional resort at a very reasonable price. I give it a 5 star for value and will certainly return again.
Our suite was very spacious. Glad to have had the room with the swim out to the pool, private porch and Bali bed. Service was top notch across the board. All staff were very friendly and helpful. High end alcohol brands available at no extra charge a great bonus.
The buffet's were the best I have experienced at any all-inclusive resort and the a la cart restaurants were great as well. Lots of little mini-buffets and coffee/refreshment counters scattered all around so never a shortage of food or beverages.
It was so nice that we were able find available Bali beds and lounge chairs on the beach or alongside the pool at any time of day. Lots of beach bar and pool bar service!! The sand on the beach is beautiful. The ocean floor is sandy so no stepping on shells, coral or rocks. Just great body surfing in the warm turquoise water.
The resort caters to families as well as to those who would rather an Adults only vacation. The facilities for children look to be quite impressive although we didn't actually use them.
I highly recommend putting the Majestic Mirage at the top of your list of resorts to check out in Punta Cana !!!!.
Our new room was amazing, still building 7 which we loved as we are more pool dwellers than beach dwellers. We were right between the swim up bar (William is great !) and the 'hot' tub. It was perfect for us, just perfect !
The coffee shop is a major asset to this resort, we thought we read it was open 24/7 but it didn't open until 9am. If I had a request, it would open much earlier as we are early risers.
All of the restaurants are very, very good, but hubby and I both agreed we did enjoy the food more at the Elegance.
The evening entertainment is better than at most resorts for sure, they really do a good job with the singing and dancing, the house band is really very, very good.
I miss the towel card system for pool and beach towels. We were there 8 nights and only 1 single day did we manage to each get a pool towel from the mayor of pool town Juan Bernardo. Honestly, every towel rack was empty and we saw that people had 3, 4 and sometimes more pool towels ! This creates a problem of no towels and the bigger problem of people taking so many towels to 'mark' their chairs or bali beds, which is a total pain. There were always lots of bali beds by the adult swim up by the theatre, but we saw so, so many unmanned chairs etc throughout the resort. It's nonsense.
I can't say exactly why we like the Elegance better, can't put my finger on a solid reason. It's a different vibe over there, not better just different, but we did like it better.
We met Dario (Super Dario) at breakfast our first day and he was simply wonderful. Made us feel welcome right away, the second day he knew how we took our coffee and mimosa's ! He is at the main buffet, we did go to the SeaSide a couple of times for breakfast (also amazing!) and when we returned Dario was glad to see us again. He greeted us warmly in the Japanese restaurant as well. He is a very good brand ambassador for the Majestic !
We certainly love the Domincan, this is our 20th year going we are so, so happy we found the Majestic group !
The staff were always happy and eager to help (especially if you are a tipper). I wish I knew earlier, but you can get smaller bills at the check in desks off the main lobby if needed. The spa was a good experience and I would recommend it. I loved that there were always towels available by the pool/beach and the rooms are fairly large.
A lot of other reviews mentioned dampness in the rooms. Yes, we experienced that but it was not terrible. We were mostly out enjoying the sun and beach not staying in our room. We did not interact much with our butler except for reservations for dinner + spa (keep in mind they say you need to make dining reservations three days in advance). He did check on us twice, it was like he had a motion sensor - five minutes after returning to the room he would knock on our door. He also asked us two nights before we checked out if we wanted to see a different room. We had no previous complaints about the room so we were not sure why he asked this.
One weird and odd situation did happen. We were getting ready for dinner around 7 PM and there was a knock at the door (twice). I was on my way to open it and housekeeping let themselves in before I could get to the door. She asked if we needed housekeeping and I told her no that they came already. She asked again to which I said no. Just found it odd that housekeeping would be making rounds at 7 PM at night without being requested.
The buffet food was just average, I would have wanted better quality. The Italian restaurant appetizers were good, the main courses not. The steak restaurant was really good as was the French. Alcoholic drinks were generally watered down.
They did throw a nice and well put together Super Bowl party while we were there, which we enjoyed as we were very excited about the game.
I did read a lot of reviews (negative reviews) and made myself anxious about the trip and its safety. We were fine, I did bring “security” items from amazon but they were not needed. Just be smart, don’t bring anything of value and if you do, lock it up.
Did I have a good time, yes. Would I go back again, no. But I think that is only because I am over all-inclusive resorts.
The ocean water was crystal clear with absolutely no seaweed. It was easy to obtain a hut and a shaded bed at the beach and by the pool. I bought beautiful beach cover ups and jewelry from a vendor walking around on the beach for a fraction of the price that you would pay in a department store.
Arling was our butler and he made this vacation one we will never forget. He checked in with us at least once a day to see if we needed anything. He sent us the day’s activities every morning via “WhatsApp”, and he made dinner reservations for us and our friends each night. For my birthday he sent us a bottle of champagne and decorated the room with rose petals and balloons. He also prepared our jacuzzi with a warm water bubble bath.
There were a variety of really good restaurants to choose from. Our 3 favorites were the Steakhouse, the Japanese and the French restaurant. Make sure to pack some long pants for the men in your family. The shows weren’t bad. My favorite thing was the silent disco!
The hotel is great if you love to drink and you don't mind mediocre food. We had higher expectations of the restaurants, mainly the Don Jaume Steak house, the quality of the meat was not the best. Again, the variety of food was amazing and okay if you don't expect top notch restaurants.
All employees wore masks at all times and social distancing was adhered to in the restaurants and enclosed areas. Kudos to Janett at the Mini Vacation Club. Beautiful lady! Victor, our butler, with the appropriate feedback, turned around our experience from an initial "not so great" experience to a satisfactory one. He went out of his way to accommodate our requests.
The beach area was great and the Bali beds were cleaned (not sanitized though) daily. We truly enjoyed the Coffee machines and the Mini Vacation Clubs.
One downside about the the hotel, is that you need to coordinate everything through your butler. Restaurant reservations, issues with the room, etc. - they all need to be through him. This is not informed when the guest checks in.
We had a very nice time, but we discovered that All Inclusive hotels. Highly recommend for guests who LOVE to drink, and just enjoy the sun and beach.
The resort grounds are absolutely beautiful. Always spotless and being tended to. The beach was very nice. The loungers were fine. Just wish they had some way of keeping the cushions on better. As soon as you sit down, your whole body slides down.
The food was good. We liked the steak house the best. The buffets were not our favorites compared to other all inclusive resorts we’ve been to. I was a little disappointed in the lack of ambience at them. No flowers, fruit displays or other attractive displays. Just had no WOW factor. However the staff were all great and work their tails off.
All in all it was a fantastic vacation that went way too quickly and we can’t wait to return.
The entire staff -restaurants,bar tenders, hostesses were nice and had great smiles. Special thanks to Alta Gracia who kept our room impeccable, to Miguel the bartender at the building 4 pool, Sonny and Jorge servers at the Steakhouse, French and Sea Side restaurants, especially because they paid attention to the fact that my wife has food allergies. We thought that the gala dinner on December 31 and the new year festivities were awesome! Great Michal Jackson show and Fireworks to conclude the evening and welcome the new year!
Thank You Majestic (mi familia) and see you soon !
The pools and beach were kept very clean and the activities were entertaining with Louis Banana from the animation team getting our group involved and enjoying the competitive and fun afternoon activities. The bars and premium alcohol drinks were a plus with great service from the bartenders and wait staff.
The fitness facility was large, with plenty of equipment, spinning bikes, weights, and extra room to stretch, etc.
The resort also did a good job of minimizing the impact from Covid with masks only required indoors until seated at restaurants. With much of the resort being open air the impact was minimal. It was easy and only a 15-20 minute wait for onsite covid test for the return to US.
Our room was nice, we were in building 6 which was a great location, central to everything. Only small problem we had was we noticed towards the end of the week after it rained the drain outside our shower started to smell like sewer. The maids did a nice job cleaning our room everyday and our fridge was fully stocked everyday except one. Our butler was Denis, he was very friendly and gave us a bottle of champagne on the day we left. We had a swim up room which was nice but the pools could use a bit more cleaning, especially around the swim up bar. The service around the pool was great, Juan Bernardo was amazing and Majestic is lucky to have him! He made sure we were always supplied with drinks.
The beach is beautiful and finding a beach chair or bed was never an issue but the resort was no where near full.
The food was hit or miss. Very basic selection, not 5 star in my opinion. I'm not sure if it had something to do with the low capacity of the resort but we were disappointed. The best meal we had all week was the steakhouse. The sports bar had pretty good snack food. Buffets were terrible, most of the food was cold and unappetising. We went to the Italian one morning for breakfast and waited over an hour for our meal and we were the only ones there.
We visited the spa for a massage and facial. We all paid for different massages and when we got out were comparing notes and it sounds like we all got the same massage, even though some paid $90 and some paid $180! I felt like I had wasted my money.
The resort itself is beautiful, the lobby area is nice and the courtyard with all the lights. The grounds are well kept and the gardens are beautiful. There are a few shops at the resort to get souvenirs, snacks or anything you may have forgot. We visited the pharmacy and the lady was very helpful. Most of the staff are great and can't do enough for you.
Overall, nice resort but I will look elsewhere when returning to the Dominican. For the price we paid, I don't feel like it was worth the money. One of the main reasons being the food, I am a foodie and when I pay for a 5 star I expect to love the food. I have been to 4 stars in Cuba that have had better.
