On a quieter street, just outside of the main part of Castro yet near a few shops and decent restaurants, this is a good choice if you're willing to walk/drive to the main sites. A 20-minute walk uphill to the church will get you to the centre of Castro, allowing 'Waiwen' to feel a bit more private. Breakfast is simple but nice; the setting is picturesque on a stilted "palafito" that Castro is known for; hosts are helpful (especially Juan!) and welcoming. A solid 4+ for 'Waiwen' I would recommend staying here.
Wholeheartedly agree with the previous reviewer - a lovely place to stay, with good views over the water and a lovely eating/breakfast area. very friendly staff and a good location to explore this magical island.
This was one of the highlights of our recent trip to Chiloe Island - beautifully designed, cosy, comfortable, great condition, and friendly staff. The views over the water are stunning and we loved the dining area over the water. A very convenient location for exploring Chiloe Island, and some great birdwatching in the surrounds.
Pablo, the mild-mannered owner, is a man of many talents: designer, architect, photographer . . . . he has created a stylish but rustic getaway that I dream of returning to some day. I didn't cook for myself in the kitchen, but it looked like other guests were very much enjoying the facility. This place is super clean and comfortable with easy access to the town center.
I loved staying in a Palafito. The property is cozy and there's a nice back porch over the water to sit on. Not very sound proof so if you're on the street side, be prepared to be woken up by the dogs.
