My husband and I stayed at the Wiveton Bell in January from Friday to Sunday. Check was great and we were shown to our room. We booked the Garden Room, which is the quaint cottage-style room with a ground floor living area and upstairs bedroom and bathroom with views over the village. Matt showed is where everything was and left us to settle in. There is limited parking outside the pub but a large village car park across the green.

We ate in the restaurant on the Friday night. My husband and I are vegan and the restaurant made us our own starter and main course, which were amazing. Due to an issue with our hot water, the owner gave us a complimentary bottle of wine with our dinner. I emailed ahead to ask if we could have vegan milk and yogurt with our breakfast. We had milk delivered to our room in a little picnic bag each morning outside our door with some fruit.

Our room/cottage was great for a weekend escape. The living area is great if you just fancy a bottle of wine on your own rather than sitting in the bar. Due to the ceiling height, I’d recommend this room if you’re short as there are a lot of alcoves and beams! We sadly didn’t see the village owl!

I’d definitely recommend the Wiveton Bell for both a weekend getaway and a romantic meal. The staff couldn’t have been more attentive and went out of their way to make sure we were well looked after.

My partner and I booked a table in their heated marquee for dinner. It was warm enough but we were glad we’d been advised at booking to wear jumpers. We were impressed with the level of safety measures in place (this was our first time going away since lockdown). All the staff wore masks, the tables were 2m apart and a strict one way system with plenty of sanitiser stations meant people were encouraged to stay safe. As expected, the food was excellent, fresh, and well-presented. If you want a great meal but are nervous of dining out, this is a good place to go.

We have stayed at Wiveton Bell a few times before and have always enjoyed ourselves either with family members or on our own. With Lockdown becoming and ever increasing likelihood we decided to have four nights of luxury both in terms of accommodation and of food. Unfortunately all our premonitions came true and we were restricted to two nights instead! However the short stay was again exceptional. The Library room was perfect and as usual the quirky practice of putting your cool bag on the door handle outside meant that a wonderful set of pastries yoghurt and fruit was available for breakfast alongside the selection of cereals. As before the evening meals were exceptional and the staff were, as always friendly, attentive and professional. Anti Covid procedures were well established but not obtrusive. A great couple of days. Thank you so much

We visited this pub yesterday for lunch. They were well organised and had a large heated marquee adjoining the main building. The menu was good, however the two pescatarians in the group were disappointed to discover that the fish pie had sold out. We also had a 7 month old with us and they provided a high chair, but unfortunately didn't have any baby changing facilities which in an establishment of this size, and in this day and age, I found difficult to comprehend. So although we had a lovely meal the lack of baby facilities would meal we won't be returning unfortunately.

We stayed 3 nights DB&B in the Library room. This was an relaxing escape from the stresses of COVID.
The room, food and staff were fabulous. Our room was separate from the bar, restaurant on an outside terrace overlooking the garden with a marquee to give extra dining space due to social distancing. Outside stairs access to rooms.
NHS app scanned easily and hygiene and covid measures with staff always in masks were excellent.
It’s a lovely popular place in a delightful hamlet inland from Blakeney. Rabbits hopped in the opposite field as we breakfasted.
Continental Breakfast is served in each bedroom.
Space for 3 cars directly outside with a large village car park 100 mts away with footpath.
Excellent place for exploring this part of north Norfolk.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We booked a table on Monday night 6.15pm. Name and tel no given for track and trace.
We were greeted at the main door and asked if we would like to go straight to our table even though we were 15 mins early.
We ordered drinks and was told our waitress would be with us shortly.
We ordered our starters which both were really nice.
Steaks next cooked on open fire... I had 7oz Sirloin my husband had 14oz rump.
They were both cooked perfect mine medium, hubby had rare, these were cooked perfect and absolutely delicious.

Everything was done extremely well, felt safe!

Well done staff.

Just had a two day break in Norfolk and stayed at this wonderful pub. We had the Starlight room on the front of the pub. Inside it is roomy with a large entrance area fitted out with comfy chairs and all you need to make a hot refreshment or breakfast, which arrives in a cool bag every morning with a gentle tap on the door. Inside the cool box is everything you need to start the day including the most tasty breakfast pastries. Room also had a very comfortable bed with proper pillows. The bathroom had a large shower and and everything was extremely well cleaned prior to our occupancy. So love this pub and it’s restaurant.

Last minute get away once the lockdown was lifted. We’ve at the Wiveton Bell many times, however never stayed so thought we’d give it a go after many great reviews. It certainly didn’t disappoint!
We were greeted with smiling faces upon arrival and shown to our beautifully decorated room which had complimentary Prosecco in the fridge waiting for us. The amenities in the room were fab, and everything that we requested more of was with us almost instantly. We personally loved the idea of breakfast served to your front door, and with the weather being so nice we sat out on the patio and eat in the sunshine. Great selection of classic continental options in the hamper, and the highlight for us was the hot croissants!
The dinner in the evening was fantastic as always. Couldn’t fault it!
We will definitely be back again soon!
Thanks Wiveton team.

I had great hopes for dinner for 6 at The Wiveton Bell last night. We have been there once before four Sunday lunch which was fantastic. Last night sadly was not the case.

The waitress lacked any knowledge whatsoever regarding the food, drinks or anything on the menu at all. She seemed terribly sweet and apologised profusely but the lack of basic knowledge from her was appalling. My daughter is vegan and we had called the week before to check if this was not going to be a problem. There were no vegan options at all and the food that was adapted for her diet after having to explain numerous times to the waitress was disappointing. A plate of lettuce for starter and rice and vegetables for her main course!

Crab soufflé starter which read well on the menu resembled a bouncy ball and I’m quite sure would have bounced if I had tried! Rubbery and unpleasant!
My risotto was not cooked , the rice was extremely al dente!

Cheesecake was a mousse with nuts on the side!

The other diners in the group were also bitterly disappointed and the price point for bad food was high!

I totally realise times are different with social distancing but no staff wore masks and were not complying with social distancing rules.

Other diners around us were also unhappy about the service and were complaining.
I’m sorry to say we will not be returning.

Superb food from a really interesting menu, beautifully cooked, presented and served. Good wine list with a great selection of wines by the glass and no mark up on drinking by the glass versus a full bottle. Our server was flexible and helpful on choices and genuinely interested in our feedback / experience. The staff were confident on arrangements around restrictions so we felt safe throughout. We had a minor confusion on our reservation; sorted promptly and efficiently via a phone call.

Hello! White room is lovely but, like other rooms at The Bell, it has scant room for much more than is already in there. I would not consider putting cot into bathroom. However, the low table provided for breakfast etc. is a good size and you could put carry cot on it. The Library room is even smaller than the White room. The Garden Room has a downstairs room and an upstairs bedroom. The upstairs bedroom is very tight too. The bathroom to The Garden room is downstairs so you might consider using one of those rooms for baby. The Bell is a nice place to stay and you do not have to rush for breakfast.
