After three perfect days here, I was seriously tempted to extend my stay and just soak up the peace and tranquility of this delightful property. After an easy and comfortable coach ride from Quito's excellent new bus station, a short taxi trip (even in the little town of Lasso, there are plenty of taxis by the bus stop) took me...

Dear guest, it is so good to read reviews like yours! We are very happy you had a pleasant stay, thank you for your wonderful comments! Cotopaxi did actually keep people away (although an eruption wouldn't affect La Ciénega). Please DO visit us whenever you return to Ecuador and please let us know in advance :) If you have any...

We stayed on our tour through Ecuador one night at la Cienega and would have liked to extend the stay there. The main building ( over 300 years old) still has the original rooms and furniture in many rooms. Great paintings and details add it up. We were able to see the room where already Alexander von Humboldt stayed in...

This is one of Ecuador's oldest colonial haciendas. It's situated near the Cotopaxi Volcano and its national park and nestled in the Andes. The hacienda goes back to the 17h century and the Marquis of Maenza family. Today is tastefully converted into a charming Inn and restaurant. It's surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty and rich folkloric memorabilia. We had lunch...

This place was absolutely gorgeous. It was so much fun to walk around the grounds and take in the surrounding scenery. I was able to get some amazing pictures for the scrapbook. Staff was very friendly and the food was good. My husband and I were lucky enough to stay in the master suite, one of the nicest places we...

Dear Wendy, thank you so much for your wonderful words! Please send us your pictures if you don't mind! You could send them to marketing@haciendalacienega.com, we would be very grateful :) Quite a night you had then, the hacienda is not precisely "haunted" but it certainly has the presence of "ghosts", you're not the first to experience them and probably...

Enjoyed 2 nights in room 11 as part of an independent 17 day tour of Northern Ecuador - we loved the splendour of the wooden floors & decor of this place but you need to add an extra layer of clothing as quiet chilly. Our room had a large fireplace & the fire was prepared with a small amount of...

After a hard day on Cotopaxi (it erupted the day after we left) this place was a surreal experience. Old world feel as we arrived at dusk, - as we drove up the driveway we half expected to be met by Chrisytopher Lee or Boris Karloff . Our pre-arranged tour suite consisted of 3 rooms (including and extensive bathroom ...with...

Dear Dave, we are so happy you stayed at La Ciénega rather than a chain hotel :) Thank you for leaving a review. We are happy to know you had a pleasant stay and that the hotel is even comparable to "The Leopard"! We also thank you for your photos. Hope to have you back soon! Best regards.

I am totally in love with this piece of property, the hotel itself is absolutely magnificent, the furniture, decors, gardens, all spoke of elegance and period. It is a hidden gem in a middle of nowhere, which really is not an issue, one could really get lost in the history and the beauty of this place for days. Thou, the...

Staying at La Cienega was a last minute decision but a wonderful experience. Just pulling up to the building you see an old historic charm outside. Attentive staff greeted us and quickly helped with our luggage, getting us checked in and into our rooms efficiently.
