I travelled with my family to visit Petra and we stayed at the Petra Marriot Hotel for two nights. Immediately we were all blown away but the service of every staff member we encountered. Every single person we encountered checked in on us to ensure we had everything we needed. The location is perfect, about a 7 minute drive from Petra, and also has great views over the surrounding area. The hotel is beautifully organized. The rooms themselves were standard, but had every amenity we needed. The steam room was fantastic. I have to say the highlight of the trip was meeting the restaurant manager Mohammed Khamees who provided the best service I ever experienced in my life. Despite us showing up around 30 minutes before last call, he patient waited for our orders, and gave us expert recommendations. He continuously checked in on us. Everything we ate was delicious.

This hotel is situated on the cliff which provides guests with great view of the canyon, especially during sunset. At night time, you can have a traditional meal in speciality restaurant where they cook the food in the ground. They also have a singer singing traditional Arabic music. It was wonderful.
If you are interested in Petra by night (Mon, We’d, Thu only), you can buy the ticket at the reception (cash only). You can also have transportation to the Petra visitor center (Petra by night entrance) by the hotel if you want to avoid traffic and the hassle of looking for parking.
The staff are nice, especially Reda who was so kind to show us the process of making sand-in-glass art.
The breakfast was okay. The staff was very nice nonetheless.
The rooms are not that big unless you are staying at a suite.
Tips: If you plan to walk the entire path between Petra visitor center and Little Petra and see all the major attractions the easier way (i.e. avoid walking up thousands of steps to the Monastery and to Little Petra), you can arrange a transfer with the hotel or take a taxi to Little Petra. Then pay 5 JOD for the Jeep ride which will take you to the location that is 30 min walk from the Monastery (mostly downhill). It’s the best 5 JOD that I spent. :) it saves you a really long walk in the sun. From that point on, you will only need to walk up hill a little and then mostly downhill. This is an easier path to go. It will take 3-4 hours if you don’t stop for drinks or rest. Then have your transfer driver pick you up at the Petra visitor center. Please note that if you have a Jordan pass and if you have not exchanged it for a ticket to Petra, you will have to do that at the Petra visitor center prior to going to Little Petra.

Went there as part of a tour (with husband). On arrival we were given rooms, wanted to add Marriott member number for extras and reception man said that it was of no value. Went to room which was right next to swimming pool so wanted to change and again, reception male rude. On a positive the room was clean and bath and shower good, pillows also comfortable. The pool was heated and the spa reasonably priced for a hotel (and the staff there were very very nice). The restaurant is also fairly well priced. It needs to be as the hotel is isolated from the town of Petra, the hotel shuttles goes approx 4x/day (not always conveniently) and the hotel provides car service that is about $50A return. The walk to town is about 5km and very hilly. The rooms at the front of the hotel are noisy, so if you do go try to get a good deal on one with a view.

We stayed just the one night here in between Amman and driving to Wadi Musa for a night in the desert. I had always wanted to see Petra and I had not realised there was so much more to it than those buildings carved out of the rock. You definitely need at least 2 days to do it justice. The hotel is situated on the main road but is very quiet, with good security on the gates. Thanks to Mousa for help with bags and driving. This is an excellent location to stay for Petra, It is not walking distance to the archaeological site but it is a short drive or they have shuttle buses a couple of times in the mornings from 7am. Breakfast is from 0630 weekdays so we were up and ready to go early and I am glad we did because later in the day in Petra the numbers of people were huge so it is important to get an early start or you will be frustrated! This was what it was like in low season so I have no idea what it would be like in March or April. As it was low season the hotel was quiet and it is probably one of the smallest Marriotts I have ever stayed in. THe manager came and met us personally and everything we needed was on hand or sorted out straight away. We had upgraded rooms with Petra view, but if course you cannot see anything of it at night but in the daytime the views are wonderful. As the hotel is on a hillside, it has had to be built in a specific way so you use different lifts for different rooms and it can be a bit confusing going down to your room from reception instead of up but you soon get used to it. PS most sockets in Jordan are UK-type and this was the case in this hotel although there were some with USB points there also. If there are not UK type sockets they will be european ones and not US-compatible. The pool was not open until March. Food service was great as were drinks. I definitely recommend this hotel for anyone staying in the area. As it is not large I am sure it will get booked up very quickly. There is a post box right outside and they sell stamps so you can send all your postcards from here also.

The staff at this hotel were particularly helpful and had a great attitude. While the hotel is a ten minute drive away from the Petra Visitor Centre, the view from the lobby, dining areas and poolside (as well as most rooms) is worth the drive. I'd suggest asking for a room with a view of the valley. The room had a shower instead of a bathtub which was good, and the shower gel (etc.) were refilled instead of in single use plastic containers.

What a disappointment for a Marriott - a very expensive Marriott at that. The best thing about this hotel is the view. Second best is the buffet restaurant and staff there. Unfortunately, the positives end there.
The biggest issue by far was that we couldn’t control the temperature in our room. I cannot sleep in 80 degrees F. WAY too hot! When you pay this much for a hotel room, you ought to minimally be able to set a comfortable sleeping temperature. We thought something was just wrong with it, because the night before we set the temp. So we asked at the front desk, and they said they would send someone up to look at it. He told us just to open the windows. Because it was raining outside and dropped the temp a few degrees (this was April, so not super cold), the heat kicked on in the hotel, and so all the rooms were on heat. So we had to sleep with the windows open with the damp air from outside, and it was still roasting in the room. What kind of solution is that for a 5-star expensive hotel like this?
Aside from that, we had issues with room service (don’t bother!) and the “at your service” staff not being responsive to the issues with room service. Also, management doesn’t respect the “do not disturb” light being on outside your room.
Honestly don’t know or understand how it’s a 5-star hotel. Better to save your money and look into other hotels in the area. What a waste and quite a disappointment.

The checkin was very friendly, smooth and the staff made us all feel very welcome. The room keys were provided swiftly and the team ensured we have been given all information about the tours available. They also organized tickets to Petra at the hotel reception.
The rooms were extremely clean, disinfected and they even left a card to confirm touch-points that have been disinfected such as light switches etc.
The dinner arrangement is an experience not to be missed as they offer traditional meals which are cooked in very authentic ways ‘underground’. The sunset before dinner followed by sumptuous dinner and accompanied by live traditional music makes the even worthwhile.
If you are looking for a pleasant, comfortable stay in Petra then look no further as this is the only highly recommended spot.

From the moment we walked in, it was easy to see the staff are superbly trained in hospitality. Mr. Moussa took our bags immediately and as we were checking in, he brought out cold juices for us which were the perfect start to our stay, especially since we had just arrived after a long day. Mr. Ahmed at the front desk was also extremely accommodating and upgraded our rooms. Just when we were soaking in the amazing middle eastern hospitality, the manager, Mr Mouyad offered a complementary dinner since we are titanium members. The dinner at the Hala Hala restaurant was one of the best we’ve ever eaten and the dessert as my teenagers would say was “bussin.”
Regarding the room, also spacious and clean. My daughter said the shampoo ( which I was told by the manager was made with Dead Sea minerals) left her hair very soft. All in all, this place is 100% deserving of this five star review.
This hotel needs to train other hotel staff on how to treat guests, so they keep coming back.

Spent a night here on points, which @ 30K points was a value compared to the $500US rate. Hotel is a bit out of town so you're captive to their restaurants without a car ride. Lot, porterage and front desk staff were all very friendly and attentive. Lifetime Platinum gave us a decent view room and fruit, snacks and beverages sent to our room, but we were only offered 2x double beds as staying on points; i guess King beds are for cash guests only.
Rooms worked just fine but as others note were tired. Bed was comfy, shower pressure was fine, but far fewer english language tv options when falling asleep compared to Marriott family properties in Amman before/following our Petra stay.
Food in the main dining area was surprisingly good, though the service wasn't as cordial as the front-desk/bell staff. The breakfast was relatively spartan compared; while there were more food offerings than a traditional US buffet, presentation was low-end, baked goods didn't appear to be fresh, and as we were there an hour before closing, many items were severely depleted and weren't being refreshed.
While a good value on point redemption, if I were a paying guest it'd be personal preference whether to stay closer to Petra's entry and within walking distance to other dining options, or for the quiet remote setting and warm greeting and amenities of the Marriott.

The hotel is located higher up than the city, on a nice street away from the noise. The view is worth the trip, wonderful views both from the rooms and from the swimming pool and restaurants. Attentive and kind staff, the hotel is not very large and is looked after with great care. There is a shuttle available at set times to and from Petra, it takes about 10 minutes. Panoramic swimming pool, the water is very cold but regenerating after the walk. Bar service by the pool. Rooms not too large but comfortable and welcoming. There is a restaurant where you eat a bit of everything, from burgers to pizza, and then the Bedouin tent where you eat lamb and chicken with rice, etc., with music but I expected more. Good, varied breakfast. Bottles of water to go go. The Turkish bath is pleasant. ATM and shop available. Have a nice stay
