Hotel Wroxham appears to be a charming destination, with its picturesque waterside location often being a highlight for guests. The hotel's cleanliness and the friendliness of the staff have received commendations, though opinions on the service quality vary, with some experiences of inconsistency. While the rooms are noted for their cleanliness and views, their size and value for money have been points of contention among visitors. The hotel's atmosphere is generally considered pleasant, although the music selection has been a detractor for some.

We booked B&B but ended up eating dinner here as well as the food was excellent. I'm guessing that in normal times they have a buffet breakfast because the at table service was extremely slow. Maybe they just didn't know how many visitors would come back and didn't get in enough staff and I sympathise with their position. We were never in a hurry and so it wasn't a problem especially as the breakfast was so good.

The room was quite small and only had one double socket (unless there was another where I couldn't find it). There is no air con but it was very quiet and so leaving the window open was not a problem. By contrast the ensuite was very spacious!

The car park is pay and display and so you have to remember to leave your car details with reception to avoid a charge.

The bar staff were friendly when we stopped in for a night cap. In fact all the staff were quite cheerful and helpful.

We loved the location, looking out on the river to watch the swans and boats go by.

Stayed for one night in a balcony room with lovely views over the river, the room was very clean and comfortable. When we arrived it was very hot as the full sun was shining directly into the room. We had to leave the door and window open all night to lower the temperature to be comfortable to sleep in. Breakfast was well organised and freshly cooked to order, we were not offered more toast or coffee. I Think for the cost of the room one would expect air conditioning, a mini fridge or at least a room fan. Having said that we would return and enjoyed our stay and wroxham

We stayed at the hotel Wroxham 10th to 14 th August 2020 and had a great time. The room was spotless and the cleaners worked hard everyday to make sure we had our tea, coffee and biscuits topped up daily. Clean towels and freshly made bed daily as well as clean bathroom. The weather was hot that particular week so it could not have been easy for them. We had a good working fan in the room as there was no air conditioning but that did not matter we were grateful for the sunshine.

The decking area by the river was a beautiful setting morning noon and night. We breakfasted here for 3 mornings of our stay. The food was outstanding. We ate here most of the time the whole week and we were not disappointed with the food. 5* quality.

Yes you wait for a table. Yes you wait to put in your order and yes you wait for your drinks and food but I challenge anyone to tell me the view you have is not worth the wait. The hustle and bustle of boating life along the The Broad is priceless. Sit, wait, relax and you won’t be disappointed, I guarantee.

Unfortunately some people complained about the wait and the lack of “ brown sauce “. The staff were doing their utmost to accommodate some very impatient and rude people and hats off to the staff for their professionalism in these strange times. The comments were not justified and the manager, Wendy handled this very well. She is a great host and is genuinely trying to keep her guests and staff safe.

Thank you Team Hotel Wroxham, we stayed in room 6, we will be back for sure.

Stayed at this hotel from Monday 7th September and due to stay until 10th but checked out the day before. When we checked in the owner asked my husband if he had his mankini with him as the weather was going to be good. How unprofessional is that. That evening my husband couldn't find the shaver point in the bathroom. He went down and asked the owner where it was and her reply was it is on the mirror it is either on the side or on the bottom you will have to look for it yourself. The restaurant staff need a uniform as some of them do look very untidy.

Yesterday morning we tried to book a table for dinner that night. The owner was talking to a member of staff and said the book is through there i.e. The dining room. So she couldn't be bothered to get up and see to a customer who wanted to book a table. We arrived last night at 7.30 ( the time they gave us). After waiting for 45 minutes for food with no explanation I asked where our food was as we had now been sitting there for 45 minutes. The young man said " don't speak to me like that". So then another lady came who said your order has only been in the kitchen for 25 minutes. So where had it been for the other twenty minutes? She promptly then said you can leave if you want!!!! They then tried to pacify us with a bread roll and a complimentary drink. We ate our food and afterwards I tried to speak to the manager. She said I hope you realise you have upset some of our regular guests as you have been quite vocal. So what does she expect me to do sit there and say nothing. She then said it Is obvious that you have had too much to drink and I can check you out now if you want. Having read read the other comments about her I am not surprised that this is her attitude. She is in totally the wrong business and really needs to go on a customer service course.

One morning we saw a member of staff going to the supermarket to get some obviously cheap orange juice. No grapefruit juice is available here only orange or apple. Maybe this is all the supermarket stocks.

Don't be fooled by the lovely photograph on the Internet of the shop selling lovely chocolates. The shop is a dumping ground for parasols and unpriced goods scattered around.

To add insult to injury we came to check out and there was only a waitress and a chef on. This young girl telephoned the owner to talk her through the checking out procedure. The poor girl had only been there 3 weeks. We had to wait for the duty bar manager to arrive to know how to operate the computer. To add more insult to injury when I asked to settle my account I was then informed that the full accommodation rate had been taken from my card on the 4th September I.e. 3 days before we got there on 7th September and having not even seen the room or stepped over the door!!! We only wish we had of read the very justified comments regarding the owner beforehand.

Response from wendy timewell, General Manager at Hotel Wroxham
Responded Sep 16, 2020
We are terribly sad to have to resort to this response and we are somwhat in shock that you did leave a review. We wrongly assumed you missing breakfast and checking out a day early that perhaps you had a slither of remorse and embarresment for your abhorrent, rude and disgusting behaviour through-out your stay at our hotel, the cresendo of your stay an amazing " live show" in our restaurant . Obviously that seems not the case with an elderly couple with absolutely no filters and manners. The shouting and foul language from your wife , your wife gesturing two fingers to a customer who asked your wife to be quiet and the round of applause on your departure from a restaurant, ( applause for all the wrong reasons), would normally be enought to send anyone with manners/filters/into a meltdown. No, sadly not you two. The owner requested an immediate checkout of the hotel if you continued. You did go to bed . As a compassionate caring business we understand frustrations, human failings, illness, but in all our time we have never experienced anything like the behaviour of you two very unhappy, rude, and miserable people and quite franky we are all still puzzled and shocked. Regards General Manager

Room was clean airy and bed very comfortable - breakfast included was continental and cooked and good- we had an evening meal on our first night which was very enjoyable overlooking the river but even though we booked a window seat we ended up in the middle of the restaurant. There is car parking but these details aren’t given until you arrive and would have been better if it was clearer details on their website. Our room was east facing and could have done with blackout blinds but overall it was a very enjoyable and handy stay

Myself and my wife stayed at Wroxham hotel for two nights, we have had a lot better elsewhere for a lot less. The hotel is advertised as luxury, it is not. Staff are friendly but it lacks management and investment.

We paid extra for a superior double, the shower didn't work, some of the coat hangers had broken, bed was uncomfortable and the window faced the carpark that had a lot of litter and a large amount of shopping trollies dumped.

The first night we had food in the hotel, because we had a dog we was not allowed in the main restaurant which was fine but we were put in the next room over, but was told the speakers didn't work so no music and we were the only ones in there for the complete meal. Next morning we had breakfast, children screaming for 45min, parents not doing much and no sign of management. The next morning was no better, but this time they decided to vacuum the hotel while guests had breakfast, and then started to paint the joining room without partitioning it off.

The majority of the place was clean but cleaning equipment was left everywhere, at one point the vacuum was left on the main stairs with cable for over 45 min, again no sign of management. Chairs in the dinning room have stains on, plant pots damaged...the list goes on. With some investment and direction for the staff from management the place could be a lot better.

we booked a river view room using Hotel.com with a very good rate however on checkout the reception said a direct booking would have been cheaper. The room was quite small but did have the promised view, it was neat tidy and clean. We eat in the hotel restaurant which was a little chilly despite a large wood burning stove, the food was good but not memorable and the service attentive. Breakfast was comprehensive with a good selection of cooked and cold items.

Visited the restaurant on the off chance of seating outside and as luck would have it a couple of tables available. We were shown to superb table a few feet from the water by a young lady called Emily who firstly briefed us on the covid19 rule's implemented by the restaurant and made aware that the service could be slightly slower than normal. I found this very helpful as most other establishments have not been this informative. Obviously the new lifestyle is now normal and with the views that we had not a concern. After approximately 5 minute's our order was taken for smoked salmon and cheese sandwich and the Norfolk sausage sandwich and a bottle of wine. Approx wait was 10 minute's which was fine by us as the views stunning. Food was superb for a light snack and we promptly booked a table for that evening. Although they seemed fully booked the manager Wendy was able to squeeze us in which we are most greatfull for her help.
The evening meal consisted of the pan seared scallops and the grilled peaches with asparagus, great taste and presentation could not fault.
Mains consisted of fillet steak cooked medium and Dukkah spiced chicken with cous cous. We were a bit concerned no steak knife! It was not required cooked to perfection and no steak knife needed. The chicken again fabulous and different. I must congratulate the head chef on some fantastic ideas and tastes that I would never have believed would go together thanks Nigel for sending my taste buds crazy.

Due to the above we then booked a table for the following lunch time! Such great food and staff so friendly. Karina and Enrico the crazy Italian looked after us for lunch time. Service was a bit slow but obviously our safety and the safety of other guests and staff are a must and a slight delay is not a problem in these times.

My wife had tempura king prawns and myself the whitebait. For mains I had the oven roasted lamb cutlets and my wife the Wroxham beef burger, is which is fresh and not your normal fast food type. Both of these meal's fantastic again and could not fault. Also tried the Pina colada and one of the best we have sampled in the UK.

I must thank David who on both day's we visited was great in ensuring we were being attended to and I must say ensure all guests followed the covid19 rule's implemented by the hotel.

Thank you for a most enjoyable couple of days next time we will try to book a room as well.

One final note I felt very safe in your establishment as I was on the vunarable list during lockdown, and yes service slower than you would expect, but the new normal is for all of us. If you want fast and cheap food try a normal pub and not a caring establishment like the Wroxham Hotel.

We will be back very soon as outstanding treatment and outstanding food. Thank you to everyone

Stayed for 5 nights and overall we were very disappointed. Great location on the river and owners have clearly spent a lot of money tastefully refurbishing the hotel but service was poor. It was apparent that there were staff shortages, the staff on duty were clearly run off there feet consequently long delays in serving meals particularly at breakfast when for the majority of the time there was only one member of staff. Reception/Hotel entrance was not staffed for long periods of time consequently guests were left waiting. Rooms were not serviced correctly or consistently our bins were not emptied for 3 days. After a full day out we returned at 19.30 to find our door had been left open, thankfully nothing was missing, we were in Room 6 next to the fire escape which was used for frequent deliveries etc.. We had an excellent evening meal on the first night of our stay. As it was so good we decided to dine again on the second night my wife's meal was inedible. The supervisor did not charge us for the meal and apologised, apparently it was a different chef that evening. On a positive note the hotel has a car park although difficult to find, poorly surfaced and very congested. Room was adequate but wardrobe had no front or sides on it and my wife's dresses were touching the floor totally inadequate. ok for 1 or 2 night stays but not for long stays. Room backed on to a carpark post office vans with early morning starts an issue and waste collection at 5.30 in the morning. Hardly what you would expect from the photos.
We will not be returning.

Response from Hotel Wroxham, Guest Services / Front Office at Hotel Wroxham
Responded Jul 14, 2021
Dear Alan Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Yes you are absolutely correct in that there are staff shortages this particular week which unfortunately was absolutely beyond our control, and you rightly point out staff are run of their feet! - we as hotel owners absolutly applaud their grit and determination and loyality in these terribly challenging times (they continue to work so hard and even smile!). Your bin in your bathroom was not emptied, however the bin in your room was emptied daily. It was a bad oversite on housekeeping reference the door and they appologised personally and we have subsequently ensured extra checks. We do sincerely appologise for this incident. The only deliveries used by outside stairs are linen on monday, wednesday and friday and sorry if this was an inconvenience ( for us it is far more appropriate than congesting the main stairs). Deliveries are after eleven am checkout time. On arrival and throughout your visit the wardrobe seemed a real issue to you and your wife. It is an open wardrobe and the rail to the base is 5 foot and 8inches which in most cases is adequate ( the exception being extra long gowns). Each year we have invested hugely in our hotel, even throughout the hard times of lockdown and we hope that the car park will be addressed next year - this will depend very much on the recovery of our business. Veolia ( the waste disposal contractors ) are contracted to only empty bins after 7am and we have called to confirm this arrangement, we are sorry if it was any earlier. Perhaps you should have looked at that fantastic river views from the terraces and restaurant and bar-the position is unrivalled and the views as per the photographs ! we do state that the hotel is situated in the centre of Wroxham, which is a busy working and thriving town . We do have other rooms available ( the balcony rooms ) that over look the river which perhaps would have been more suitable albeit slightly more expensive, these were available on booking. We are sorry that you underwhelmed and sorry for any oversights on our behalf - our kindest regards Alan
