Accomodation was tasteful, the doggies had place to run around and we could relax and watch the view and them play. I will definitely go there again. The surroundings was beautiful and also the bird life and little stream running through the property.

We stayed in the Akasia cottage which had great views. The cottage is well equipped and cozy. The pillows/covers on the furniture could do with a wash or replacement. The walks are great for the dogs but the long walks are poorly marked. We got lost on both and had to use Google Earth to look for the trail. So...

Thank you for taking the trouble to comment on your stay. We will definitely pay attention to the dirty covers and make sure it gets washed. Please note that we are not allowed to mark the long walks as it is on communal land, for that reason a google map is provided. The short walks on our own property is...

90 minutes from Joburg is a lovely dog friendly small holding with ridge and river walks. We stayed in the 2 person Piet-my-vrou self-catering cottage situated half-way up the steep rocky road to the other cottages on top of the ridge. Walks lead off from the road and are well marked. Definately a good place to visit.

This place is great BUT the flies can be a problem! We got the last days of summer and the flies were out 'in full force' which meant we could not open windows either. Hiking trails are great and excellent outing for pets too. We had a Golf 6 and it scraped on the path getting too reception. We plan...

Thanks for the response. There is a general fly problem in the Magaliesburg area at the moment and not specific to Saamrus. It is due to the amount of farming activities, especially commercial chicken farming in the area. Fortunately this usually does not last long as we have contact with management at the Chicken farms. They usually try to get...

Saamrus is our favourite getaway from the city for long weekends. Since the dogs can come with, we have the whole family together. Walk every morning and braai every night. Absolute bliss! It is of course quite rustic, so be sure to pack mosquito protection, tick/flea treatment for the dogs, comfortable shoes for walking and a little outdoor adventure spirit....

We enjoyed a nice weekend with calm (no sound of cars as I read on other review and no flies), relaxing time around the swimming pool. We had a long hike with our dog. The cottage is simple and beautiful, well equipped. The indication to arrive look difficult but i'ts not. You can have a nice dinner in a very...

Saamrus was just lovely! Well equipped self-cater unit, which comfortably slept 6 adults and 4 dogs. A really lovely spot for those wanting a break outside of JHB / PTA, which is quick to get to, and very relaxing. Overall, really lovely, and also perfect for pooches - so nice taking them away too!

The chalet was clean, adequate and we'll enough equipped although it was advertised as having satellite but would need to bring our own DSTV card. They don't mention we would need to bring our own TV as well. There is a satellite dish but no TV. Don't get me wrong... we didn't take our DSTV card with as we wanted...

We decided to take our little break for the weekend as this near the end of the year we all need a break. We arrived to a lovely quaint cottage that is fully fenced so our doggie could safely roam the garden. We went on many great little walks where we saw nature at its best, seeing little monkeys, rabbits,...

Thanks for taking the time to comment. Sorry, about the discomfort suffered because of the flies. Please note that this is unussual and not the norm at Saamrus. We have tracked down the source to a commercial chicken farm in the area where they had a water leak and wet manure which caused the extreme amount of flies. The reaganal...

Beautiful spacious & Clean cottage - we stayed in Hoep-Hoep. Best idea that each cottage is fenced off so you don't have to worry about watching your doggies all the time. Beautiful river walk with the sound of the river and birds roaming the air. Clement was very professional and helpful with all our requests. Only a 40 minute drive...
