For The price I paid was great! I was moved from a room I had booked to another room but was given the option of a refund, which is fine because a loyal guest had extended their stay. No water due to water break down the road apparently happens often. I asked for a bucket and got that which was...

Management response:

Thank you for your constructive comments, The water situation does not happen frequently (we have had broken pipes twice now) therefore your statement. We cannot be held accountable for Johannesburg Water and their services, so we try to assist guests where we can. The entire neighbourhood, Randpark Ridge and other suburbs were also affected, I am so sorry about this...

Lovely room, beautiful view. Spacious. I was comfortable and had everything I needed. There was a desk, two point plugs, all necessary kitchen accessories. Bathroom was large with corner bath and massive shower.

We enjoyed our stay, the owner and staff were engaging, helpful & friendly. There is a little maintenance to be done (ceiling globes blown, no fan or Aircon), but overall the experience was really great.

We did not experience the "warmth" other travelers are referring to. The host (male) did not greet but merely asked who the booking was through, then rattled off instructions and got super annoyed when we did manage to operate the lock of the room after he explained it once. Not something you need on a Saturday evening when trying to...

Thank you for your comments. We appreciate and accept that there are areas for improvement at our guest house and we are working on the issues that you raised. As for the negative welcoming that you state you received, kindly allow me to add context. Ikhaya Guest House is a guest house, not a hotel. Unfortunately we do not have...

We have stayed with the kids and they did not wish to try another hotel so that is a good sign. :)) we love the high point of view. we also appreciate the sweet staff. They make us laugh. I recommend it to Franch travellers like me who are always on the lookout for birds and nature spots.

We needed a place to stay for a night on very short notice. It had everything required to stay for a night. We were comfortable, however other guests were extremely noisy and kept us awake and woke us up very early in the morning by chatting very loudly. Everything was clean and neat, we had no issues with the accomodation.

Dear Colleen, Thank you so much for your feedback. I am so pleased to see that your room was clean & neat, it is so lovely to get both positive and negative feedback. I have gone back on our booking sheet, to investigate the 'noise' issue. October was our busiest month last year and that would make sense that you...

Our family of four, kids 13 and 8 enjoyed our week at Ikhaya with owners and hosts extraordinaire Coralee and Rui. So why visit this gem? The accommodation was warm, cozy, creature comforts...breakfast served to order and nothing was too much trouble. Centrally located, secure and everything in spitting distance. Highly recommend this home away from home, enjoy!

As a business traveler I often have to sacrifice aesthetics on the altar of convenience. That's why this lovely guest house was a surprising treat. Even though it is conveniently located near shops and provides easy access to main routes, it still feels like a rustic getaway out of the bustling cityscape. The rooms are large and comfortable and the...
