Photos do not reflect reality. There was no sunroof deck, just a bare space with no furniture, floorboards coming up. Room was tiny, no shelves or hooks in bathroom, had to move three sets of sliding doors to open the small drawers. Lobby and rooms were dreary. Food was ok, location of hotel was good, but so much street noise at night that it was a problem sleeping (and we live on a noisy street in Manhattan, so we are used to noise). Worst problem was NO internet in rooms; you had to go down to lobby or lounge in order to access the internet.

Great location with almost all rooms having balconies facing the bay, although rooms on the ground floor are subject to pedestrians looking straight in.
Public areas of the hotel have quality furnishings.
Unfortunately they are either understaffed or the staff are poorly trained.
The electrics in the rooms are ridiculous, my pics are just of the switches, there are a load more sockets too. As you can see the switches are not labelled.

First the room was comfortable, the view was stunning, and the staff were helpful - my sympathies to the two ladies serving breakfast one morning when all the members of two tour parties turned up at the same time. Now the downsides. There is no information, and I'm not just talking about no tourist information, though there is none in either the lobby or your room. In the lobby you will find no signs directing you where various rooms are, or the toilets, though there is one sign saying the restaurant (for breakfast) is upstairs - you just have to search it out. There is nothing in your room telling you what time breakfast is served, or how to work the curtains or the air conditioning, or even how to leave in case of fire - I thought this last was a legal requirement. There is apparently a swimming pool, I don't know where, because again there is no information. In the section below on hotel amenities I have clicked not sure on everything. The wifi is intermittent at best. The bathroom door is very heavy and slides, but has no handle, don't push it too far back, you will never get it out again, especially if you have weak wrists.

This was probably a lovely hotel in its day, but now it is very bad. The location and the view from the seafront rooms is spectacular. However, the room smelled like bug poison, the shower did not work properly, and all of the once-beautiful wood in the room needs to be refinished. The breakfast was average. And, there is no parking. You would think for over 300 euros a night that they would valet park your car. This place was a major disappointment. It is also one of the most expensive places to stay in the area. Our friends stayed nearby in a beautiful new hotel at less than half of the price we paid. The staff was very friendly, but I would definitely not recommend this old hotel in need of renovations to anyone.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights as part of a Classical Greece coach tour during which we had already stayed at three other hotels. This was by far the worst. There were 36 people on this tour. On arrival we had to take our luggage to our rooms. There are 2 lifts but one was out of order. There is only room for 2 people and 2 suitcases in the tiny lift, so it took ages for everyone to get to their room.
There was no information whatsoever in the room. We struggled to work out how to control the air conditioning. When I mentioned this at the desk I was told all the information had been removed because of Covid. Fair enough, but whereas we can survive without room service, local information etc, air conditioning is essential at the moment, so why not put instructions on the wall so no-one has to touch them? The curtains work by pressing switches but again, no instructions.
The bathroom was a nightmare. The door was a sliding one and was extremely stiff and made a terrible noise when opening and shutting it. We left it open as we would have woken the whole hotel up if we needed to use the bathroom in the night! Even worse was the 4ft square window between the bathroom and the bedroom with only a wooden slatted blind to give any privacy. There was nowhere to hang towels except for a towel rail over the bath. A hook next to the sink would be useful. The shower was attached to the wall a few inches above the bath taps so it was impossible to stand under it and washing hair was somewhat difficult if kneeling was painful.
Wi-fi was non-existent in the room and unreliable in the foyer. We were told they were trying to fix it. Well, reading the rest of the reviews here it seems they've been trying for a long time!
Yes, the location is handy for restaurants and the view is beautiful but that does not make up for everything that is wrong.

This hotel has seen better days. The view is spectacular but, as others have noted, the parking is almost impossible and the Wi-Fi leaves a lot to be desired. The breakfast is ok - nothing spectacular. One’s sense is that it has suffered from changing fashions and the financial crisis and it needs a lot on investment. However the staff are very helpful.
It’s important to note that you can use the pool at the companion hotel up the hill - just ask for directions to the elevator in a tunnel in the rock. We had an excellent meal there.

We very nearly didn't stay here because of the poor reviews. Our experience was excellent. Beautifully positioned, with outstanding views from the balconies and within a few minutes of lovely cafes, restaurants and the town square.
Our bedroom was huge with spa bath, seperate toilet and shower and double wash basin. Bed very comfortable and the balcony with those amazing views!
Breakfast was plentiful and all staff very helpful and friendly.
Our room was on the 1st floor so had the potential to be noisy with adjacent road, but we heard nothing. Also, the balcony y here was very sheltered should there be winds.
Yes there are a lot if switches to manage lighting/ curtains but you soon get used to these.
I have already recommended this hotel to others - and we only left a couple of days ago!

We stayed at this hotel in late May 2022. We were first greeted by Chris who went to the car park with me to collect our luggage and wouldn't let me carry anything so he was loaded up with 2 suitcases and a back pack. (Note: There is no parking at the hotel but there is a public car park very close by) He then showed us our room and explained how everything worked as the curtains operate by a switch on the wall. The room was modern and clean and we had a large balcony with an amazing view across the water to the Bourtzi. The hotel is well located and only a short walk to the waterfront and the old town for dining and shopping. Rather than a buffet the breakfasts were made to order. There were lots of different options and it was very tasty. The staff at reception were very friendly and made us feel welcome. Our only complaint was the pillows. They were like a bag half full of feathers. We asked for an additional one each to provide some support which they happily provided but it didn't make much difference. In the end I took a cushion off the chair and put my pillow on top of that for some support. Overall it was a very nice hotel and we would happily stay there again but I might have to bring my own pillow.

Hotel location is great, fantastic views of the sea from all rooms. Booke an executive room and family room for the 3 teenager kids. Family room was good with 2 rooms, a double and a single bed.
The Good was Location and Views and some of the Staff were very polite but not helpful in sharing info.
Hotel is dated, rooms and furniture even worse. Bubbling walls in public areas, strange smell in the corridors. Balcony furniture pretty uncomfortable, we saw that other rooms beside has extra pillows on wooden bench, seems not enough for all executive rooms though, we were not the lucky ones.
Breakfast was poor, staff was polite but offered extra things only once one had finished his breakfast !!! Definitely inadequate breakfast for 350 euro/night.
While arrived and needed to park and drop off luggage, person in front door did not offer any help although told we were going to check in. Ater making rounds and eventually found place to park in the street, when at the lobby he told us that we can go park to the other hotel on top of the hill... thanks for not offering the info earlier and send us to look for a place to park in the street!!!
Definitely no value for money. Old glories now gone, seems only prices are high at the hotel.

We booked an executive suite for more than 300€/ night and the room is so miserable and with lack of many things for this price. The woods and surface at the balcony was destroyed. No deep freeze at the mini fridge. Very poor experience, especially for this amount of money!

There are basically four swimming options open to you, if you stay at the Amphitryon Hotel: 1.You may use the pool at the sister hotel the Nafplia Palace, free of charge. This is above and behind the Amphityron and is reached through a lift. The pool was unfortunately shut when we were there, as it was late in the season. 2. If you walk along the seaside path from the hotel around the promontory you will come to a place where you can swim and possibly sunbathe after about 100 yards. It is somewhat dilapidated, and I don't think that you can hire loungers etc there. 3. You can drive a couple of miles out of the town to the south to Karathonas Beach. This is a large sandy bay with plenty of parking. It does not have a lot of atmosphere, but there is a cafe there and the opportunity to hire a lounger. 4.The town of Tolo is a few miles further south, but not on the same road. This is quite a big resort with a long beach, lots of bars and cafes and loungers are available. It tends to be quite busy and noisy, and full of children. It is also where the excursion boats leave from to go to Hydra and Spetses. ,
