My wife and I arrived very late in the evening but we still received a warm welcome even though we arrived at 11pm. Food was kindly provided in the evening and also advice on an alternative route for the next day's walk due to having pulled a muscle in my leg during the day. The room was very pleasant and...

Excellent host who met us with tea and the most amazing flapjack. Very comfortable rooms well furnished. First class breakfast and chunky filling sandwiches, my wife said the doorstop marmite sandwiches got her up Kidsty Pike. Highly recommended especially for C2C walkers.

We arrived quite late after a MASSIVE day out hiking. My sister had terrible knees and was visibly upset when we arrived. Christine answered the door and nothing was too much for her. She quickly organized a pack of ice peas for my sister's knees, bought fresh milk up to our rooms and was just genuinely kind. The breakfast was...

Hello again. We did enjoy meeting you all and hope that you were able to enjoy the rest of your C2C adventure. Some of those descents are tough on the knees and the joints. We did hear that you had made it to Shap and were still in good spirits .... amazing what a bag of frozen peas can do!...

Absolutely fantastic B&B. Excellent quality breakfasts (including a nice selection of fresh fruit), comfortable rooms and friendly hosts. Probably the best place we stayed at during our Coast to Coast walk.

Grisedale Lodge is a first class bed and breakfast establishment in the traditional mould, well used to those walking through Patterdale (perhaps on the Coast-to-Coast, like us) so there are helpful touches such as specialist daily weather forecast provided on the landing, besides the local knowledge of the proprietors such as alternative walking routes in the event of bad weather....

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review of your stay with us. We did enjoy meeting you and hope that you enjoyed the next few stages of your Coast to Coast. And that you enjoyed your sandwiches ..... and the contents of the parcel that had arrived for you. Hope to see you both again....

I was very nervous about the rain and going over Kidsty Pike on the C2C, so John, being an experienced fell runner, gave us an alternate route. I figured we would get lost, but with the map he created for us all went well. It helps to have a host who has done the trail. (And little did he know...

Good to know that the advice proved helpful for you. The alternative Coast to Coast route from Patterdale is a lovely option with excellent walking and views. Hope you enjoyed all your other "alternatives" en route! We hope that you found your room comfortable even if it was a bit tight for all your gear. Happy walking. John and Christine

A great welcome from Christine and John. Although I was told before my room had a separate (dedicated) bathroom I was pleasantly surprised to find it also had en suite WC. Breakfast was fantastic. A short walk to The White Lion for dinner (also recommended). Room spotless and bed very comfortable. I am very happy to recommend and hope to...

I stayed at this B&B for two nights with 3 friends which meant we had the house to ourselves as there are only 3 rooms.
