short walk off Hadrian's Wall trail. Catherine gave us a ride to pub, no problems were too much for them. Nigel was very informative on trail, and helped us plan out the rest of our hike, his advice was perfect and let us have a whole day in Carlisle, which was very fun.

Stayed 2 nights on Pennine Way. Can honestly say Nigel couldn't do enough to help and was continually offering his services to drop us off/pick us up. Most helpful when member of the party had to visit dentist for emergency treatment. Don't know what we would have done without him. Requested boiled eggs for breakfast and he managed to do...

Excellent value bed and breakfast, breakfast very good. Nigel kindly advised us on the best route from Alston ( and his advice was very good) and picked us up to avoid a walk along the dual carriageway. Pleasant 10 minute walk to a pub for an evening meal.

Nigel and Catherine made us really welcome in their lovely family home. The rooms are very comfortable, the breakfast really is made to order with best ingredients and the conversation was great. Nigel ran us to the pub at Gilsand for our evening meal and also brought us back. Between them Cath and Nigel have a encyclopeadic knowledge of the...

Nigel and Catherine were gracious hosts and gave us a warm welcome during our stopover on the Hadrian's Wall walk. Nigel kindly drove us to (and back from) the local pub, as our legs probably couldn't stand the extra onslaught! A lovely cooked breakfast in the morning set us up for the day.

Arrived tired and hungry after a long day trekking to a welcoming cup of tea and cake and hot shower. Rooms well equipped if not a little busy, but superbly comfortable beds, great breakfast (Nigel's porridge takes some beating), and ample tips to help us work out our day.

Clean & tidy B & B, owners friendly and very knowledgeable on local area. I booked the roam and stay option for 2 nights- this was incredibly helpful whilst joining my father to walk a stage of the Pennine Way. Nigel dropped me to my start location and int he evening collected me from the pub! Try the roman spiced...

A great place to stay with a good host and lovely food. Very accommodating and flexible b&b. Extremely comfortable. Wholesome breakfast and very helpful proprietor. Nigel was knowledgable about the area and kind enough to drop us at the pub and collect us at the end if the night. Great service !

My friend and I (and her dog!) stayed at the four wynds while walking Hadrian's wall. Nigel (the owner) had a wealth of local knowledge, was a very generous (and almost free) taxi service and not bad behind a cooker too. He very kindly came to rescue us when I sprained my feet and couldn't hobble much further, despite having...

My wife and I were walking The Pennine Way and we stayed with Nigel in Greenhead. The stay was really nice and we were even given some delicious home made cake upon arrival. The room was simple but very clean and we had a very good nights sleep. I recommend anyone visiting Greenhead to give this B&B a try. Nigel...
