Live Aqua Punta Cana has earned praise for its cleanliness and vibrant atmosphere, though some visitors find the music overwhelming. The hotel's prime location offers guests easy access to the beach and entertainment, but opinions on value for money vary, with criticisms centering on high prices and aggressive upselling. Service at the hotel stands out, with many guests appreciating the warm and professional staff.
Amenities are a highlight, particularly the pools and beaches, yet some guests mention noise from ongoing construction. Room experiences are mixed, noted for their size and style but with some service inconsistencies.

Overall the Live Aqua resort is a beautiful all inclusive resort. The staff was very professional, kind, and helpful throughout our stay with Live Aqua. We stayed at the resort for 7 nights for our honeymoon, and for the most part, really enjoyed our stay.
Pros: - service staff is amazing - grounds are exceptionally well maintained (groundskeepers are constantly trimming, mowing, spraying, painting— keeping the grounds clean) - the beach is kept clean and is sectioned off with a net for swimming - with certain services, our fridge was kept stocked daily, room cleaned, sheets, pillows, towels, etc were changed upon request - room included a full wet bar with fridge, safe, different beverage glasses - bellhops luggage delivery to and from room when leaving - back patio/pool/tanning area were well maintained, a pool service employees cleaned our pool daily - the pool events were a lot of fun. We attended a foam dance party in the main pool with bar service and a DJ. - the resort activities were fun: Michael Jackson show, 70s/80s live band, magic show, fire show - the excursions in the area are a lot of fun. My wife and I visited monkey land (playing with squirrel monkeys) and the dune buggies through muddy trails (a very fun overall tour)
Cons: - food at some restaurants, not all, was good but not great. Menus are very selective, some restaurants offer a buffet with appetizer options - restaurants open times seem to fluctuate (at least for the breakfast/lunch buffet restaurant) - we had a beach front room and huge parties were held right outside of our room on the beach. This led to very loud music in the room well into the night and was disappointing for such a nice room. We expected that the room would’ve been more private (advertised as a honeymoon suite) - some of the pool features appeared not to work (fountain and jets), we heard other people say their hot tubs weren’t working (they would have jets on but no hot water) - bring insect repellent, there tends to be lots of mosquitos with all the rain that happens almost daily - the excursions, although a lot of fun, seem to be far away from the resort and the bus rides are very long full of people. We had a greyhound style bus which was nice but the bus rides was lengthy - construction on adjacent resorts. Although the construction wasn’t super loud in the rooms, it was noticeable when walking around the grounds.
Overall, we give the Punta Cana Live Aqua Resort a 4/5 stars. We would definitely come back with friends in the future. Highly recommended for any friendly outings or honeymoons (as most guests were here for).

Live Aqua exceeded all of our expectations even after reading the excellent reviews here on TripAdvisor. If relaxation is what you are looking for, this is the place to be. Let me start with the service. From the minute we got there, we were ushered into their VIP reception to get us checked in with cold washcloths, wonderful bar, and even a hand/arm massage to get us into the right zone. We were assigned a butler, Carlos, who was very quick to answer all our questions via WhatsApp and was on call for us all the time. The staff all around really cares about their customers and will go out of their way to make sure you get what you want; they didn't have a liquor I wanted at the sports bar that I had seen at another bar there, 20 minutes later it appeared. I have celiac and typically have to worry about getting gluten free food. From the moment I told them, they had the restaurant managers come out from multiple restaurants to assure me they would keep me safe throughout the trip and wanted to know when/where I was eating so they could be especially careful at all my meals, even the hostesses would know before I even said anything from that point forward. I can't tell you how much that meant to me.
Food was exceptional as well. Seafood at the restaurant above the pool bar was unbelievable, grilled fish, shrimp, and octopus was amazing. The Japanese restaurant we went to twice, once for hibachi (also typically tough to do for a gluten free patron due to soy sauce having gluten but they handled it without issue at all) and once for their sushi/pad thai. The French restaurant was great as well, had some excellent shrimp there. They even had octopus at the sports bar, which was just fantastic. We had room service twice and the breakfast buffet a couple times and they were good as well.
The room was definitely something to write about. One of the best beds I have ever slept in and this is from someone who has a Westin Heavenly bed at home. For those a bit pickier, they even had a pillow menu and incense menu to heighten your senses. We had a room with the swim up pool and whirlpool tub and I would tell you to spend the extra money for it as it was so worthwhile. Water pressure in the shower was amazing even with both shower heads going.
Resort itself was very nice as anyone can see from the pictures. The beach was really nice and clean, especially after being to some beaches in Cancun where the seaweed was intolerable. Entertainment for those that are looking for it was good; I went to some cigar/rum tasting session, my wife went to a number of sessions (1 to make some soap, another painting), and even this circus type act we went to was amusing. Again, I will stress we were here for relaxation and really had no plans to do anything else.
Some of these reviews I read on here that had bad things to say, I have to wonder if they actually said something early on because from what I can tell, the staff here does EVERYTHING they can to make sure you are happy. You would have to be searching for something bad to say to write a bad review. We've been to dozens of all inclusive resorts and this is definitely in my top 2 ever. First time to DR but definitely won't be my last.
Special call out to some of the staff specifically Eva who checked us in, the restaurant managers, there were 2 Julios both of which were just tremendous in making sure we were happy at every turn. Francisco at the sports bar did nothing more than sat and talk to me but it had been like we had known each other. The staff sincerely becomes attached to you in the short time you are there. Carlos our butler definitely did whatever he could to keep us happy even though we didn't really know how to use such a service. :-) Thank you Live Aqua for giving us the relaxation we were looking for!

A newer adults only beauty! What made our stay so special is the incredible service, peaceful ambience and many beautiful spaces to enjoy. From the welcome of the porters, reception desk to the restaurant, grounds and cleaning staff, everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful. And the lobby smells amazing, like you’re stepping into a luxury spa!
We treated ourselves to the Aqua Club which includes access to a private lounge, separate check in and check out, separate beach area, buffet area and butler service. We loved the bar service at the private lounge as Miladys the bartender is one of the most service oriented and intuitive bartenders we’ve met on our travels. She remembered that I preferred less sweet and less spirit forward cocktails and she surprised me with delicious drinks that were perfect every time. We ended our evening every night to enjoy Miladys creations and conversation, thank you so much Mili for your service.
The pros: . Reservations are not required at any of the a la cartes and you can go anytime, we never were turned away and came at different times . Fully available towels without having to turn them in for chips or coupons, you can take and use as many as you want . Plenty of bars for a boutique resort, our favourites were the private lounge and the garden lounge in the middle of the resort . Entertainment was always available and well done, the midday classes and evening shows were fun and engaging . The resort toiletries (Molton Brown) were always refreshed and smell amazing! . Plenty of beach and pool chairs available (with shade) and no needing to wake up at crack of dawn to save stuff. We were told the resort was full yet it never felt crowded or that you had to to seek out space . Reliable Wifi everywhere but the beach which is expected and the grounds are always beautifully maintained
The cons: . There’s tons of food choice however it wasn’t the top resort food we’ve had, as foodies that have dined on everything from Costco hotdogs to Michelins, it’s a 3.5/5 for us but the service made up for it every time! Our favourite were Seisen and Ricardo’s cooking ability on the hibachi is amazing, the most tender chicken and flavourful fried rice. The buffet Liberi also had a crepe station, one can never go wrong with sweet crepe (Nutella was my go to!)
Special thanks to Miladys, Jacklin at Liberi, Jandy at the Mediterranean and of course our wonderful butler Alex for a memorable stay. We will be back!!!

After extensive research, we chose Live Aqua Punta Cana for our honeymoon, believing it would be the perfect romantic getaway. Unfortunately, our experience was far from what we expected, especially for the price we paid. Almost a year later, I feel ready to share why we were so disappointed and why I wouldn’t recommend this resort, particularly for a special occasion like a honeymoon.
1. Room Experience: We splurged on the Viento room with a private pool, thinking it would be a highlight of our trip. While the room itself was beautiful and well-appointed, the service fell drastically short. For the high price tag, we expected exceptional attention to detail. Instead, our room was often not cleaned until late afternoon—around 4-5 PM most days. Since many patrons spend significant time in their rooms enjoying private amenities, this delay was frustrating and unacceptable for a luxury resort. Another minor thing to mention is the scent. The Live Aqua scent is wonderful and we were told our room would always smell like it, but every day we had to ask for the scent because it was never provided.
2. Poor Service: Having traveled to various islands with exceptional hospitality, we were shocked by the lackluster service at Live Aqua. Mornings were especially disappointing as we often had to seek out staff just to get a drink. Overall, the staff didn’t seem particularly attentive or interested in ensuring patrons felt welcome or cared for. For a resort marketed as luxurious, this was a major letdown.
3. Inconsistent Entertainment: The entertainment was disorganized and far from enjoyable. One night, you’d think you had secured a great seat for a show, only to find out it was being held in a completely different location. This lack of consistency and planning made it difficult to enjoy the events and left us feeling frustrated more often than not.
4. Diamond/Premium Club – Not Worth It: We opted for the Diamond/Premium Club for an elevated experience, but it was another disappointment. Aside from the butler service (which was adequate), there was no significant added value or special treatment to justify the extra cost. For what we paid, we expected much more in terms of perks, exclusivity, or attention to detail.
Overall Impression: While the property is beautiful, the service, organization, and overall experience do not live up to the hype or price. For a resort positioned as a luxury destination, Live Aqua Punta Cana fell short in almost every way that matters, especially for something as special as a honeymoon.
We wouldn’t return, and sadly, I can’t recommend this resort to others—especially those looking for a seamless, romantic, and stress-free experience.

Recently stayed at Live Aqua Punta Cana and, while there are some positives, the overall experience left much to be desired, especially as we were looking for a relaxing getaway. We are well travelled globally, and have lived in the UK and US. The negatives: Loud construction work: There is significant and very loud construction happening both next to the hotel and on the roof of the main pool. This noise was constant during the day and into the night, and it impacts the overall ambiance. What’s more frustrating is that this wasn't disclosed anywhere on their website, which is a major oversight for a supposedly luxury resort. If you’re thinking of booking in the next 6-12 months, factor this in. Loud music and entertainment: The hotel plays very loud music around the pool during the day (think Clevelander, South Beach Miami), and the evening entertainment is equally noisy. It’s nearly impossible to have a conversation without shouting, and the quality of the entertainment itself was disappointing—generally low quality performers and not up to the standards of a five-star resort. Room and service inconsistencies: Service and room cleaning was hit or miss. My room wasn’t ready on arrival (well after check in time), the room type I booked ‘was not available’ and I was sent to the bar for an hour before being allocated a room which I had to change the next day due to noise issues. On some days, our room wasn’t cleaned until late in the afternoon, turndown service was missed and mini bar left empty at times. It’s not the level of service you’d expect from a five-star hotel. Proximity to the main building: If you can, avoid staying in blocks close to the main building (block 2 is the worst). These rooms are affected the most by the noise from the evening entertainment, making it hard to relax. The positives: Nice decor: The hotel is nicely designed, with modern, stylish interiors and lush landscaping. Friendly staff: Some of the staff members were very friendly and attentive, which helped improve our experience. Some clearly do not want to be there! Beach area: The beach is lovely—clean, well-maintained, and perfect for lounging or taking a swim. Restaurants: Buffet breakfast and lunch are pretty good. Varied choices, something for everyone and some healthy options. Service is also pretty good. Evening options are limited and very average, service was pretty poor especially in the French and Japanese places. Not sure where folks leaving the good reviews of these places have been, but they are all ordinary at best. Overall: While the beach area and friendly staff are definite pluses, the construction noise, and inconsistent service made it difficult to fully enjoy our stay. This is not the place for anyone seeking a tranquil, relaxing holiday. If you want peace and quiet, I would recommend looking elsewhere. It’s a far cry from the five-star experience I was expecting and more of 3.5 star than 5 star hotel.

We are in our honey moon and we chose Live Aqua because we had a great experience in Cancun. Big mistake; in Punta Cana Live Aqua was a disappointment. Although we were given 2 butlers and the hotel has dozens of employees, they were not able to clean our room, make the bed, change our towels or stock the minibar, things that even a cheap hotel would have done.
We were shown a "secret box" (a part of the closet) to leave the dishes and leftover food. We did so and noticed that the remains had been there for more than 36 hours.
Finaly, I don't feel the same desire to host well and focus on the customer, as I felt in Cancun, as simple requests such as an HDMI cable were not met and no alternatives were indicated. I'm sorry, but I don't want to stay at a Live Aqua again.

We chose the VIP route for our stay, and I highly recommend it to everyone. However, I must caution future visitors about the introductory staff who may approach you with a pitch about the hotel and a membership program—they're "misleading deceptive pitchers". Walk AWAY.
Butler: To truly enjoy the hotel's atmosphere and services, I suggest engaging directly with your Butler. Pedro, our VIP Butler was incredibly accommodating and consistently met our needs. Pedro promptly addressed our questions and made us feel truly special throughout our stay. Reynold was also nice.
Bartender: Crystal, our VIP Lounge Bartender, was equally impressive and made great drinks.
Restaurant: Our most memorable dining experience was at Chez Rose French restaurant. Franklin, our waiter, provided unparalleled hospitality, attentively recommending dishes that catered to our pescatarian preference.
Pool: We had a fantastic experience with the pool service in front of building 2, thanks to Juan. He was incredibly attentive, frequently checking in to see if we needed drinks, water, or food, which was a great reminder that snacks were available by the pool.
Overall: We had a lovely birthday vacation, and the majority of the staff provided excellent service. The Swim-up Garden View Room was a win ! .
Recommendations: For a peaceful stay, consider booking a room in buildings 4, 6, or 8, where you'll experience minimal construction noise and enjoy garden views. If you're looking for more activity, choose a room facing the pool area. For beach enthusiasts, building 8 offers the best direct beach access $$$.

Went with my wife. We are big travelers for years, including to Punta Cana twice prior. Pictures on site are mainly accurate (just more wear and tear in person) so I will not duplicate those. I'd guess it was only half full last week of Jan. 45 minutes from airport, reception was good - if you book a suite you automatically become a member of Aqua Club so get your own check in and check out room with a bar and lots of comfortable seating.
We had a Fuego Suite with our own infinity pool the width of the suite. This was also a butler room, although we had little use for a butler so cannot comment on the service. Keys are applied to your wrist with a string - the color of the string denoting your status.
Beach is nice, though not deep - lots of erosion all along this beach. You can walk for miles along it one way (I would not go the other way as too much jungle and no hotels). Lots of beach vendors but not intrusive. There is a bar there and a dining spot, but its mostly ceviche that I do not eat. On the side of the each restaurant is a small window where a great pizza can be had. No issue with getting seating on beach. There are no water toys, motorized or not, but they can be rented farther down the beach. There is a separate part of beach for Aqua Club members.
There are 4 pools, with that main one having a bar. That one was generally crowded and loud; others quieter but drink service was one waiter and so spotty. A lot of chair saving by the main pool, less elsewhere. One day they ran out of pool/beach towels at 3 pm but that was never repeated.
Many food options, all as described in the web site. The buffet for breakfast was great (a separate siting area for Aqua Club), as were the Italian and French. Note its very cold inside the dining spaces, tho most also have an outside seating spot. Outside you do hear some noise from either entertainment or from next door construction. As to construction, when done next door will be a family oriented Fiesta hotel; for now it a concrete shell and nothing else. Food was generally fine; note that some servers spoke very little English, which was surprising. As to staff, 90% were great, smiling and happy; the rest apparently hated to be at work. Tipping had no effect either way - I am still a regular tipper for all meals and drinks.
They also host large meeting groups, but they mostly eat and entertain at their own buidlng over the pool bar and caused us no issues.
We did not use the Spa; it was very expensive.

We stayed at Live Aqua in November 2023, the hotel is beautiful and the lobby area is lovely when you first walk in. The rooms were very clean and had everything we required, could not fault the service and thoroughly enjoyed being able to utilise the room service option at all hours.
Only downfall is the lack of areas to relax in the night time, there is seating within the lobby or outside but this is purely where the entertainment takes place. The rooftop above the pool restaurant is not open for drinks which is quite disappointing. Ultimately you have to sit in the lobby (indoors) or on your balcony to avoid having to watch the entertainment which can get tiresome after a week. Ideal hotel for couples but wouldn't necessarily say this is a 'relaxation hotel' with lots of events/pool parties etc taking place.
Food is ok with various cuisine options although not cooked to the best standard. Menu's aren't as you would expect for each cuisine but we did particularly enjoy the Japanese restaurant. The buffet service at breakfast was always great and a superb amount of choice.

The Live Aqua grounds are beautiful, as are the pools and the hotel common areas. New and clean. The staff is friendly and very accommodating, we didn't feel at any time that we were being pressured for a tip nor did we see any time share salespeople. Our butlers were great and always helpful and available
However ….We will likely not return because:
-The food was either average or borderline not edible. With a very few exceptions, we felt like we were taking a risk with the prepared foods and had to send several entrees back. There is a "french" restaurant - nice atmosphere, but food not good. We ate at the Italian, again very nice atmosphere but service very slow, and food was just passable. The buffet was pretty solid and you could always find something good to eat and cooked to order and the hibachi was actually pretty good, cooked at the table and fun.
-Not enough chairs at the beach, even in the VIP retreat area. We upgraded to get a swim out pool room but several times we came out after breakfast and all the chairs in both sections were taken.
-Loud, thumping music from about 4pm till the evening. If you are looking for a quiet relaxing getaway, this is not the place for you. At least not after lunch. You can hear the loud bass thumping in your room or wherever you go throughout the resort. IF you have the misfortune of staying in one of the buildings closest to the main reception, you will hear it until late in the evening. thank god we were not close enough for it to bother us while sleeping.
-Main Pool Closed for 4 days! During our third day, they made an announcement that the Main Pool will be closed for 5 days due to construction starting tomorrow. We were not fans of the main pool BUT that meant that all the guests moved to the quieter pools along with the party and the DJ, and thump thump thump.
-Swim out pool and spa: We paid an extra $600 dollars for this BUT the water was TOO COLD in both for us to use them. It was a bummer. maybe in the summertime, they would be warm enough to swim in.
-the hotel room was nice and very large and modern BUT as you may have read in other reviews, the bathroom is NOT separated from the bedroom so you really need to very comfortable with whoever you are sharing the room with. It's weird, maybe an island thing, but most of the guests are coming from counties where bathrooms have a door. Kind of a given.
-The Beach was nice and kept very clean, it's not officially on the Caribean side of the island which means the water is not super clear, but it was green/blue and very nice to swim in.
Overall,we really cannot recommend this hotel. Especially if you are looking for a relaxing, quiet place. The bad food and loud music, the lack of available chairs at the beach and also the construction issues and cold water will keep us from coming back. It’s a shame because the hotel is really beautiful and the staff is excellent.

Hi Ann Marie, when we were there 4 months and 9 months ago, there were no Aqua Pure upgrades. That was the old wording for upgrades. Now upgrades are called, Aqua Pool View Swim Up, Fuego Suite, Viento Ocean Front, Tierra Ocean Front Suite, Luna Suite, Arena and not in those orders.
The suites closest to the front lobby is Fuego, and Luna is the suites that faces and closest to the beach then Arena, then Viento. Arena is closest to the beach on the opposite side right beside Huzur restaurant. I believe Luna is the highest upgrade, (well above my pay grade).
Hope this helps.
At Live Aqua Beach Resort Punta Cana, you cannot upgrade to the Aqua Club level on its own; access to the Aqua Club is only included with the booking of a suite; access to the Aqua Club is only included with the booking of a suite.
You cannot purchase an upgrade to the Aqua Club level if you are not staying in a suite.
Also....any upgrade will depend on the travel agent, time of booking. Exchange rate of your country, availability of said room upgrade and whether it's being purchased at the resort, or through the resort. Too many variables to give and educated answer on pricing.
