Firstly ignore all the negative comments about this hotel, I was really worried about going after reading all the negativaty.
Just got back from 2 weeks with my husband and we had the best time.
We received a free room upgrade to Diamond Club, our room was amazing really spacious and cleaning absolutely would not recommend upgrading to diamond club its not worth it for the amount it costs and what you get for your money!
The entertainment guys are fantastic, really friendly.
Special shout out to Kelvin the barman at the Spice Bar, he made me the most amazing drinks!
The food we thought was fantastic, all the restaurants were great albeit the Tandori restaurant wasn't to the standard of curries we get back home.
All the staff were so friendly, smiling and helpful.
I would most definitely recommend this hotel!

The best of all is the human quality of all the staff, very attentive, happy. José Poche by far the best of all, no one treated us better than him. On the other hand, what clouded our stay were the smoke alarms in the early morning around 4:30. 4 nights of sleep interrupted (3 of them in a row, first 3 days) due to an unpleasant evacuation alarm we had to change buildings, it happened again before we left. We were "compensated" with a water circuit but it really is not comparable 4 dreams vs 1 hour of spa no matter how good it is. Here the management is not present and the staff tries to solve it in some way. They normalize a problem that is SERIOUS and obvious, they must urgently improve the alarm system and control guests who smoke. The other thing, they make too much discrimination in some points if you are a Diamond or normal customer... The reservations or buffet breakfast tables, for example: we sat on a terrace the first days to have breakfast and/or lunch, everything was fine until a person from the staff mentions that we cannot be there for breakfast, we enter the buffet and our friends Diamond arrive at that moment another waitress approaches us to tell us that now we can be on the terrace. The music at parties, too aimed at Americans, becomes repetitive just as the activities of the day are points to improve. DJs need to improve.
The evaluation despite everything mentioned is good thanks to 99.9% of the staff. I insist on the alarms, many of the staff normalized the issue, they mentioned that they had checked on a guest by ringing alarms, others that the guests smoked, but I don't think that anyone who has heard that type of end-of-the-world alarm would repeat their mistake of smoking. for 3 nights in a row in the same building.
The food is good in most restaurants, highlighting the staff.
Sometimes the bathrooms in the rooms were not very good at all.

Just arrived back from a 11 night stop at CHIC with the boyfriend and had an amazing time.

On arrival, check in was very quick, the cases taken to the room within 10 mins, allowing us to quickly eat at the buffet as we landed later at night. We had a standard room which was to a decent size, clean, and the shower was hot and powerful. Air con also worked well to keep the room cool, as the weather stayed hot and humid all through the day and night. The mini bar was topped up daily.

We enjoyed relaxing on the beach in the day. This had seaweed first thing in the morning, but was cleared up daily. We walked down for about 25 mins past the other resorts for a massage and actually felt like CHICs section of the beach was the nicest. The pool was good for a more lively atmosphere with music and activities provided by the Vibe and Fitness team who were all very friendly and welcoming. The resort got busier at the weekend, making the white party on the Friday, and pool party on the Saturday a really fun time as plenty of people participating.

The food overall was good. The buffet had a wide selection at breakfast with traditional UK / American items and more local foods too which I enjoyed. Lunch and dinner times were also nice, however still enjoyed breakfast the most. The view from the buffet is stunning. Food was hot.
The Sushi restaurant was really good in my opinion, we went twice in a row and the service was quick, food delicious and staff very friendly. The Italian and Indian also good. We personally didn’t enjoy the steakhouse, we visited the restaurant on the weekend so it was busy, however found it to be overly loud, and as a couple, found it hard to have a conversation sounded by big groups shouting. The steak was disappointing.
Coffee shop is a really nice touch and visited numerous times for ice cream, also stays open late.

We booked the Saona excursion through the hotel, this was a 10 hour trip, and so worth it!! One of the most beautiful places I have visited, defo recommend! We also left resort to visit a local restaurant a couple of times to explore the area, and the guys at reception were helpful in ordering us a taxi.

Overall we had an amazing time at CHIC. It had
a perfect balance of relaxation / partying which is just what we needed when escaping UK winter.

My family traveled here from August 4th to August 10th it was a total of 51 of us on the resort for a birthday celebrations period everyone had room issues from dirty towels dirty sheets refrigerators not Working air conditioners not working rooms having dirt on the floor stains coffee stains on the floors balcony doors network game room selections not correct we spent our 1st full day mostly arguing with the front desk and the 2nd day trying to get new room assignments because the rooms were just that horrible. The buffet was not great you had to stick with something that was palatable and the Indian restaurant was not great the steakhouse was mediocre the Italian restaurant was probably the best however it did seem like they just cracked open a can of spaghetti sauce poured over the noodles the staff was not welcoming or inviting on the premises. Even in the diamond club that section of the building you can smell sour strong in the hold outside the room therefore once you open your door it is coming into the room period. Reception staff I believe we only met 2 receptions that seem remotely helpful everyone else was very dismissive and not willing to hold anyone accountable for all the uncleanliness on the premises. The only reason why I am giving 2 stars is because of the assistance of the Butler that was assigned to my room her name was Marie and she was very delightful and apologetic for any bad experiences that we may have had and tried her best to rectify anything she could. It is sad that this is a Marriott Brandt because it absolutely did not live up to the Marriott name and reputation. Also this location needs to no longer contract or allow Nexus tours on theirproperty to offer excursions to their guests.

We chose this resort because it was adult only, we are Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador members and it was rated a 5 star hotel with fairly good reviews. We were coming to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary.

We purchased our 7 day vacation from Sunwing through Selloffvacations as it was considerably cheaper than going through the Bonvoy app. The agent assured us that we could get our Bonvoy points by giving our Bonvoy number to the hotel when we arrived. The hotel was not aware of this and told us we could not get our points because we booked with a third party. In all other Bonvoy hotels that we have stayed, this was not the case. In speaking with the Bonvoy representative on site, he told us to obtain a receipt at the end of our stay to submit directly to Bonvoy to get our points. We were given a very difficult time by the front desk when checking out as they would not provide us with a receipt showing that we had stayed at the resort. Not providing a receipt to a customer after their stay is ludicrous.

The resort itself was ok but definitely not what a 5 star should be.

Our basic luxury room was adequate for us. The AC worked well, the bed was comfortable and the cleaning service was great. Maintenance issues such as: a badly installed shower head which could not be angled properly when turned on, light switches that were caved in so you had to fiddle with them to turn on the lights and a toilet paper holder that was broken and falling off the wall are not acceptable in a luxury room.

Maintenance in the public washrooms is ultra important for guests. Many sinks, toilet seats, paper towel dispensers, door locks, cracked mirrors and soap dispensers were in need of replacement or repair. Public washrooms in a resort should be checked for cleanliness at least every hour.

The buffet was good but mostly the same menu each day. It was hotter in the buffet area than outside. My heart went out to those working behind the hot grills and most of them were smiling! This is where I gave most of my tips! Ceiling fans in the outdoor area would make it more tolerable to eat in the tropical heat.

The restaurants had excellent service but not a 5 star menu. Tandori would be 3 star and Vespa 4 star. We did not try the others.

I would recommend more stations for rinsing off the sand when coming in from the beach. I loved being able to go from pool to beach easily. Music and games were fun and drinks galore!

Not sure what the big hype is about Diamond Club? Rooms were facing a wall or facing the noisy areas of the pool and beach bar. Lounge was a small room with a chair and a sofa. Mermaid pool revealed all your best angles to the public at large.

I’ve been to several all-inclusive resorts in the Dominican Republic, but this hotel was probably the worst experience I’ve had. To begin with, the food was mediocre at best. The only restaurants that stood out were the Italian and Indian options, with the steakhouse being somewhat acceptable. However, the rest of the dining options left much to be desired.

The staff also appeared incredibly unmotivated. Whenever we asked for something, the initial response was often, “We don’t have that anymore” or “We can’t do that.” Yet, moments later, they would bring exactly what we had requested—likely after noticing our frustration. For example, when we asked for a plate of fruit for dessert, they claimed they couldn’t provide it, even though we were standing right next to the buffet where fruit was available. Their overall attitude made us feel like any request was a major inconvenience for them.

We also had issues with the concierge service. On two occasions, we asked for an umbrella to be sent to our room because it sometimes rained in the evenings. Despite our repeated requests, the umbrella never arrived, and we ended up walking to dinner in the rain—soaking wet both times.

Another major issue was the lack of available chairs at the resort. The ratio of guests to seating was laughably imbalanced. To secure a decent spot, you had to wake up as early as 5 or 6 a.m. Most people would reserve their chairs by placing towels on them, and many of those chairs would remain untouched for the entire day. The staff did nothing to address this issue—in fact, they seemed to encourage it by suggesting that guests wake up early to save their spots. As a result, my father and I were forced to sit on the sand, while prime beach chairs sat empty all day, occupied only by a towel someone placed there hours earlier.

To make matters worse, when we arrived at the hotel, we were informed that our package included a US$300 resort credit to spend on services like the spa, a special dining experience, or diamond access. Initially, this seemed like a great bonus. However, we quickly became frustrated when we realized this “US$300 credit” was divided into smaller denominations—US$10, US$15, and US$20 vouchers—that could only be applied once to very specific services. To fully utilize the credit, you would essentially need to spend upwards of US$10,000. This hidden catch left us feeling misled and frustrated, turning what should have been a perk into a major disappointment.

Overall, this resort falls far short of its claim to be a “luxury all-inclusive.” The poor service, lack of organization, deceptive practices, and subpar amenities made for a disappointing experience. I wouldn’t return, and I certainly wouldn’t recommend it to others.

It's a unique hotel that offers entertainment, adults only and very friendly staff. 5 stars to my butler Daryl for going above and beyond. For a unique experience, rent a cabana at the pool. All day rental, come with a bottle of liquor of your choice. It costs around $250 and is worth every penny, especially since you get a private mini pool. Spa, a must try, had an amazing massage. The buffet was good as well, especially if you arrive as soon as they open. The hotel had a Carnival cruise vibe to it for sure, pool and foam parties, twerking contests, etc.

A few things to call out, hotel is quite dated. Needs a refresh for sure and it's an outside hotel, meaning that you have to walk to a building to access your room and there is no elevator. No security to the floors or entrance so anyone can come to your room. Food choices were limited, few restaurants especially if you need a late night snack. We are in the Caribbean so bugs are expected, just wasn't expecting a roach crawling across my table at dinner. Lastly, the one thing that just really made me stop drinking was at the bars that use plastic cups. My friends and I sat at the bar by the cleaning station, the wait person would being cups dip or not dip in a bucket of soap and rinse (no brush or towel cleaning). Put the cup back for use immediately and this wouldn't be a big issue if they always gave you a straw but they don't. Not one cup made it to the dishwasher to sanitize. However they did sanitize the glasswear which you only get in the sit-down restaurants. Getting to and from town in a taxi is ridiculously expensive. $140 round trip from airport, $100 round trip to local restaurants. Use Uber or take tours, shared busses for cheaper rides.

Overall, I would definitely go back for the service as it was impeccable but probably not for any other reason. For the price point ($520 per night) wanted a bit more luxury as I would expect feom most 5* hotel.

I felt that this resort was a little disappointing. I'm going to try and start from when we arrived but things may get a little jumbled. We arrived late - after 10pm when we got there. It was really difficult to hear what was being said to us at the check-in desk as there was some sort of disco/loud music being played right at the reception. Checked in and were told that when we got to our room the guy who took us would explain how things worked and were everything was in our room. Did they - no! Just dropped our bags off and left. Just needed to take a shower but shower was broken. Tried to call the front desk but the phone didn't work so had to go down and try and get it sorted. Response was, you can wait until tomorrow or I could try and get someone now but it is late. I asked if someone could come now. Yes they would organise it. No-one had been after nearly an hour so I went back down to tell them to leave it until the next day but they insisted that someone would come soon. They did come after about 15 mins and replaced the hose. Got up the next morning hoping to spend some time by the pool or on the beach but there were no beds available; plenty with towels on! Tried this for 3-4 days and it was the same every day so we spent 2 weeks sitting on our balcony which wasn't ideal as it didn't get the sun. One night all the electricity went off in the apartment so another trip to reception as the phones didn't work the whole time we were there. They did send someone pretty quickly who showed me where the trip switches were - good job as it went off quite a few times during the rest of the stay. The rooms are in blocks and you can hear toilets flushing throughout the block quite loudly. The food in the buffet was OK - nothing special. We tried the Indian and both of us had a chicken dish and the chicken was really tough. The Italian was again OK but nothing special. Great coffee from the Insomnia Cafe. On one evening the buffet was closed but no-one told us; I think they are refurbishing the Pescari/Sushi restaurant and they had put it in the buffet area.
It is a great location with plenty of garden areas however these are unused as there is no seating. Maybe this could be an alternative to the pool area.
I feel like I have been really negative but it really didn't live up to my expectations.

Dear Royalton Management,

I wanted to bring to your attention a significant issue that requires immediate action. Many of your guests are coming down as early as 5 a.m. to place beach towels on all the chairs to reserve them. This practice creates a major inconvenience for other guests, including myself, who are on vacation to relax and not to wake up at such early hours just to secure a spot.

By the time other guests come down around 8 a.m., there are often no available chairs, as they are already “claimed” by unattended towels. This situation is not only frustrating but also unfair to those of us who would like to enjoy the amenities without the stress of competing for space at unreasonable hours.

I urge your management to address this issue promptly, perhaps by implementing a policy that prevents reserving chairs with towels or ensuring staff monitors the use of chairs. A fair and considerate approach would greatly enhance the guest experience.

Overall a reasonable resort.
However one big minus for us was our room, because for first time ever, we had no door on our toilet. We’ve travelled extensively to many countries together (Jamaica, Barbados, Italy, Thailand etc.) and we have never stayed in any hotel/resort without a toilet door separating the main room. Therefore we were very surprised and disappointed about this, having no privacy (you can hear everything your partner is doing in the toilet) and the smells from the toilet went directly into the bedroom etc. It is a really bad room design and if we'd known this in advance we definitely would not have booked this resort.

No ironing board was available for the room, we had an iron but they don’t provide you with an ironing board.

The beach was cleaned every morning, it was fairly quiet and with plenty of loungers. The sea was moderate to rough for the whole 2 weeks, never calm.

The pool was busy with a DJ playing music everyday and foam parties. Service at the bars was reasonably quick.

The biggest problem was that there were no NO SMOKING areas at all. People smoked all over the resort, stinky cigars and ordinary cigarettes. Therefore as a non-smoker you had to sit next to smokers and breathe-in the filthy smoke from them.

The food was great in all the restaurants except the sushi restaurant, but even that wasn’t too bad. We found the food in the main buffet restaurant was excellent everyday.

We were asked to attend a meeting regarding joining the Diamond Club. We were extremely shocked and disgusted at how were treated at the end of the meeting. The sales staff were rude and ignorant, almost shouting at us to try to get us to buy the membership. We said "No Thank you" numerous times very politely and said we were going to leave the room. Then we were told we could not leave the room until we'd spoken to someone else. How dare they treat us like this! They should be ashamed of themselves. The second man who tried to get us to buy the Diamond membership was even worse, far more aggressive and far more ignorant. They kept asking for reasons why we didn't want to buy the membership. I wouldn't have bought an ice cream from that man. He should be fired. He was rude, loud, aggressive, unintelligent and disrespectful to me and my wife.

If you are invited to go to a meeting to tell you about joining the Diamond club, we recommend that you do not go. The experience ruined our day and left us feeling really negative about the owners of this resort.

No clue what the cost is. We didn't take Diamond Club. It's not worth the extra cost. The only perk if you call it that is DC gets their own seating area at the restaurants. They have their own pool but all the DC people were at our pool. The DC rooms have a small pool in front of their room which is 75% shaded. Not worth it.

"Bring a straw unless you like the paper straws. Bring your own cup. Don’t drink the water lol. Get a beach chair early. And enjoy your stay."
