Tucked into a charming Beverly Hills neighborhood, the storied Avalon Hotel has long been an LA escape from it all. With immersive mid-century design, an iconic boomerang-shaped pool, shady patio, and the jewelbox Viviane restaurant and bar, it's a boutique hotel that embodies an authentic glamour - a private home away from home, chic and unassuming. The bustle of Rodeo Drive is a short walk away, but here - you're in your own private escape.

Nestled in the heart of Beverly Hills, Avalon Hotel is celebrated for its prime location, ideal for those keen on shopping and safe nighttime explorations. Guests are charmed by the hotel's boutique atmosphere and modern-mid-century fusion, and rooms are lauded for their comfort and modern touches, though noise and datedness have been noted.
While the amenities, including a pool and fitness center, are appreciated, opinions on value are mixed due to extra fees. The hotel’s cleanliness is consistently praised, and the service is often described as friendly and professional.

Detailed Reviews
A short walk from Rodeo Drive and lots of restaurants, the hotel is perfectly located to enjoy Beverly Hills. It also has a beautiful pool. We found little else about it to deserve an “excellent” rating. We arrived at 2:00 knowing that check-in was 3:00. We were finally told that our room was ready nearer to 5:00. The rooms are a bit sad. The open concept chic feels more like empty room. Our Jr. Suite had a little alcove with an empty desk and credenza. It was useless. It could have been a comfortable sitting area instead of an unused office space. If I needed office, it was totally unappointed and had no computer USB ports etc. The rooms generally were not especially well appointed. The TV is not straightforward to use. Bath towels are small and our repeated requests for extra towels were ignored all but once. Housekeeping missed dirty glasses. The room just never looked really fresh or sparkling clean.
We had to extend our stay and got dinged for an extra $50 a night on the rate. Nothing quite says “we don’t really want your business” like a rate increase when you add nights from 7 to 10 nights. If 7 days was a long enough stay to qualify for a discount rate, why isn’t 10?
The front desk folks are friendly with a “hello” but offer no real boutique service. I had them scan a document for me and they failed to send the original to my room. I had to go get it a couple of days later.
The pool is an Instagram models’ destination. There are lots of beautiful people posing for selfies or for boyfriend photographers. But a popular pool scene alone does not make a hotel great. I want to smile when I enter a sparklingly clean and fresh looking room. It’s all the little pieces of over-and-above service that shows that they care about their clients and that they want to give a special level of boutique service. We didn’t feel it.
It’s not a bad hotel. It’s good. But it’s just good.

We are sorry your stay wasn't better than just good. We have a mission to make our service stellar -- always -- and we have just upgraded our technology, from new security systems to state of the art Apple TVs. Also, to start 2020 off right, we just added Nespresso machines in every room and complimentary 750 ml water bottles. As a Kelly Wearstler designed hotel, we are very conscious of the room decor, and we are implementing 2020 room renovations. We hope you will come back and let us show you that we are not just good, but great!

Stayed 3 nights. We chose this hotel because of it's great location, (walking distance to Rodeo Drive and hot spots), and also interesting fun retro Beverly Hills decor and it's a level 5 Marriott hotel and I was using points (I'm a Gold Member). First the positives... the hotel staff was excellent, very friendly, helpful, welcomed us each time we returned. Extremely comfortable bed and nice waterfall shower head in shower. Lobby and pool area were nice when you arrive, but pass beyond glass wall to rooms and it all goes downhill. I was "upgraded" from Classic King to Deluxe King room, our room was in main building. Rooms have 2 outside walls front and back towards pool or parking lot (we were parking lot). Walking into room and can see it's not up to Marriott usual standards. Peeling paint on windows and doors, mirror glued mess on back of cabinet door, wood floors (no carpet), tiny bathroom, looks like mold or black dirt around floor to ceiling windows, humorous door handle on bathroom - replacement handle? put on with old paint and 2 big holes showing you can see through to outside (peekaboo!), peeling finish on nightstand scotch taped back up!, no mirror on walls outside of bathroom, plugs in bad places for blowdryer like behind toilet lid? unplug coffee (get hit in head with bathroom door if use poorly glued mirror on inside of cabinet) Room just wasn't friendly to put your things. Greeted by dingy electrical box just inside door. Chairs so uncomfortable. Icing on the cake was 6:15AM Friday morning trash pickup (we assumed) metal on metal noise from roof construction as well for over 45 min. Too bad, bed SO comfortable and could be cute hotel. Staff was nice. Would not go back. Also, paid a $27 daily amenities fee (was told for WiFi, bike use and pool) Supposed to get free WiFi for Gold status, too cold out for pool, and no time for bikes. This is no resort. I've never submitted negative pictures before but just too many to ignore. Place needs major face lift.

We spent 5 nights at the Avalon between Christmas and the New Year. Beverly Hills is one of the neighbourhoods in LA that is walkable and the location of the Avalon is great because you can walk but it's in the centre of it all.
The rooms need some TLC as they have started to look used and worn. The cover around the base of our bed was filthy and stained. More care need to be taken when cleaning out the rooms between each new guest. the space between our mattress and bed frame had wrappers and bits of debris left there. Would be great if there was free water in the rooms, this is the first place I have stayed that only offered water in the mini bar.
We had one of the rooms in the Beverly building with a terrace which was wonderful to have. Our dog enjoyed sunning herself out there and it's good to be able to have the door open in case of emergencies. I had to block of the gaps in the divider because when we first arrived, our dog ran through and into the open door of the room next door. There was someone laying on the bed with her legs hanging over the edge and our dog licked her feet! Luckily she was a dog lover.
Vivienne's had good breakfast, comparable to anything else you'd go out for in the area and I imagine it would be lovely by the pool during the warmer months.
The staff were all lovely to us and always helpful.
Thank you

Let me start off by saying I arrived just as the new lockdown went into effect. I do not fault the hotel for having limited service like no valet, no room service, and no daily maid service (unless requested before 10am the day you want it).
Very midcentury vibe hotel, common areas are kept up well and the restaurant Vivianne has great options for breakfast and excellent service. I stayed for four nights and never got tired of the menu.
The rooms are accessed by outdoor hallways, my door faced a back alley off of Olympic and Beverly Blvd. My door unfortunately did not close and seal properly so a lot of light and noise came in. Honestly the hotel was very noisy between the road noise, thin walls, and thin floors, you can hear everything going on everywhere, definitely bring a pair of earplugs for sleeping. There is no central air but a mini split over the door that does an ok job of cooling the room, I assume mine might have worked better if the door sealed tighter, luckily it wasn't too hot during the day and the nights were cool so I could open the windows to get more ventilation. The beds were heavenly and probably the best thing about this hotel, with earplugs and a mask I slept wonderfully. Do not come to this hotel with a big car, the parking is a disaster and almost impossible to navigate even with a smaller subcompact (I scraped the wall going into the garage once and because my door faced it, I could hear many other people bumping and scraping too).
All in all, there wasn't anything particularly bad about my stay, but I would also hesitate to return to maybe try a newer venue.

We went to the Avalon Hotel for a short staycation. Such a lovely getaway with a fun history. The staff was fantastic, and our newly renovated room was wonderful. Everything was sanitized constantly and we felt very safe staying there. Walking distance (or a short Uber ride if you prefer) to everywhere in Beverly Hills and great local restaurants (the hotel restaurant was temporarily closed due to COVID). The pool was open though, and my daughter enjoyed swimming.

Some rooms are updated, some are not so make sure you check which you booked for the cheaper price. $24/night for self parking, $21/night for amenities I never received other than obligatory coffee, parking is terrible, is open to the outside so I wouldn't ever let my wife stay here alone walking through an alley in the dark in order to get to the building. Overall stay at the Marriott down the street, the food and drinks are truly amazing, but the rest in my opinion is severely overpriced for the location.

We are very sorry you had such dissatisfying experience. We have worked very hard to make our hotel safe and comfortable -- especially during the pandemic -- and ALL of our rooms actually have been updated, with 5 different room types and configurations that meet different needs of our various guests. Also, our rates for parking and amenities are on the low end for Beverly Hills. Our amenity fee includes several additional items besides unlimited coffee -- including complimentary bottles of water, high speed Wi-Fi, new Apple TVs, EV charging, swimming pool, extra Covid-cleaning systems and supplies, PPE, etc. And in addition to our outside parking attached to the main building, which most guests prefer for convenience, we also offer two indoor parking lots under our Beverly Blvd. facing rooms. Again, we regret that you didn't enjoy our property in the way most of our guests do, but if you think the Marriott down the street has amazing food and drinks, we sure hope you will give our restaurant Viviane a try, as it is truly exceptional.

I had an unexpected work trip come up and had to travel to the area on business in the middle of a stay at home order. I was nervous about travel and wanted to stay in a small boutique hotel with fewer rooms as oppose to a larger high-rise type hotel . I I chose the Avalon for its Mid century gorgeousness and more open air type feel. This little gem Did not Disappoint. As this is a work trip i needed a ample size room with a desk. Which I have to admit i never used because the poolside bungalows with heat lamps provided a perfect a perfect work space with cold Cocktails served by a great bartender of course. Which leads me to the best aspect of this hotel , The Staff. From the GM Martin Weiss to the other employees all went the extra mile to ensure my stay for the week was a haven after a long work day. My stay in LA is two weeks after the first week my employee asked if I wanted to switch hotels, not a chance! I will be back at the Avalon for the 2nd week and hopefully many more times in the future as this Gorgeously hip hotel has earned a place in my heart!

I can not say enough positive things about this hotel and especially the general manager Marty who has been extremely accommodating to our specific needs. He went Above and beyond to make sure our stay is pleasant and satisfactory . THANK YOU !
About the hotel.Situated in a quiet residential area, without hustle and bustle of the busy down town or street, love this hotel’s vibe, especially the pool area, it totally brings you back to the 50’ and the spirit of Marylin Monroe (who used to live at this hotel and hang out by the pool) is probably still floating in the air. Love to sit by the pool and feel that vibe.
Our room was in the “Cannon" building across the street, newly remodeled room with a sofa that becomes a comfortable bed if need be, small patio, lots of sun, bright and specious, small kitchenette with table you can sit and have your tea or coffee , it has sink, microwave, small fridge, coffee machine, bowls, plates, cups. I like the chill, pastel colors of the room and exotic plants on the patio.
The check in guys, Denis in particular, are so friendly and welcoming, and the management is making sure guests are well taken care of.
Very happy with this choice of the hotel. Highly recommend.
P.S if you are in BH for a surgery, this is a perfect place to stay for all of the reasons mentioned above and close proximity to Rodeo Dr. Camden, Wilshire, Spalding ;)

I have passed this hotel many times but never stayed there. This is a motel turned chic hidden gem of an hotel.
As luck would have it, I was booked into a different hotel but their pool closed down mid stay and they arranged for me to use the pool at the Avalon. I am so glad they did! I introduced myself to the manager, Mr. Weiss, who welcomed me to the hotel and also gave me a tour. The hotel is part of the design group of Marriott, one of the few boutique hotels in the country participating with Marriott. This was the first plus.
Then, seeing the newly renovated rooms was such a treat. Decorated in soft pastel aqua and creams and pale gray, the rooms are large and pristine. Some rooms have a large private deck with chaises, while others have smaller verandas with either pool or city views. The hotel consists of three buildings, each with their own unique feel. Some units also have kitchenettes, ideal for long stays.
The gym is incredible. Up to date, including The Mirror and a Peleton and much more. It is actually a dream gym including apparatus for PT.
The menu looks great. Good for both business meetings and personal/friends.
I can’t wait to return to LA do I can stay there.

They rip people off, when they have tons of parking and force you to pay 45usd to have car over night. Pathetic. Also room is on top of main road, so every car that passes wakes you up. Can’t handle cocky people that run a parking lot and enjoy ripping people off.

Hi Ashley, I'm very sorry to hear that you had this experience. I can assure you, we are not trying to rip anyone off, and we don't have tons of parking; we run out of spaces almost daily as we are nearly sold out every night. Our parking price is the same as all of our competitors in the area, actually $5.00 less than most. If you would give us another try, and reach out to me in advance, I will certainly make sure you get a room that doesn't face Olympic blvd., and do everything in my power to make sure you have a wonderful stay. We are definitely a dog friendly hotel, as long as your dog is friendly. (We do charge a 100.00 cleaning fee.)
Dear Mel,
We have mini fridges for our minibar available in all rooms. Coffee maker and kettle are available upon request.

They offer valet parking and paid parking. Do not park on metered street parking over night, even though it says you can you will still get a ticket. Amazing / beautiful and quaint hotel. Enjoy.
Sorry for the delay. You have probably already visited. Uber, Lyft, or a shared shuttle. Especially if you haven't used one of the apps. You can get a code from a friend and get a free or partially free ride.
