I have stayed at the Mountain View Motel for over 15 years. I was in the Mule Days Celebration for 10 years and have used it continuously several times a year for fishing since then. Just came back from a four day trip.

I will say the room was clean....but that pretty much is where I have to start sharing.
Office is now locked and you have to call in on a phone hanging on the outside of the wall. Staff was pleasant but very different. The Pit Bull that wandered in from their quarters was an added bonus. My room had only two functioning lights....room service said to call maintenance but the office never answered. The refrigerator froze everything and had a loud hum. A large number of folks are now living in units. The room next to mine had a continuous flow of men and a women for two nights and lasting all night long. The stench of cigarettes permeates the walk ways and the planters are littered with cigarettes. The shower curtain rod had broken and was scotched taped and a folded cardboard box used to shim it up in the tiny shower. It fell three times while I was there. The bathroom screen door obviously had been bent for someone to crawl in several times and several dents in the door told me folks with anger management have stayed in that room. The "Continental" Breakfast was non existent for all four days and used to be a nice start for the day.

Bottom line. I've stayed my last time at the Mountain View. It's going over to the dark side with unsavory characters hanging around at all hours. I did chat with some law enforcement and they are aware of the change in management and the less savory clientele who are using it. I am really disappointed because they had mad such an effort for so many years. I've given then a food review in the past but My recommendation is to skip it.

We checked into the Mountain View on Saturday June 25th 2016. Upon arrival I asked the girl working the desk to please put us in a quiet location as I had dealt with a couple of nights on our trip out west with loud, inconsiderate people in other rooms and was exhausted. She put us I believe in 115 or 116 and assured us it would be very quiet and no one would be above us. I understand that older motels can have very thin walls. We are in the room for 20 minutes and the remote to the tv does not work. We call over and she says it will take a few minutes. We finally get the remote reset. Then loud banging noises against the wall next to our bed and kids screaming and yelling. When I went over to see about a room change the woman in that unit had the screen off the window cleaning the windows of her room so obviously she was a housekeeper. I would think they would be the most courteous. I went to the desk and told the girl working what was going on and hated to complain but reminded her of my request when checking in. She said she would ask them to hold it down, which it did get quieter so thanks to her for that. The next morning there were people above us, but did not hear them so it was not an issue, but what she said was not true about no one being above us. Later that night when going to the restroom the toilet seat was broke, but it was 1am. I wanted to tell them on checkout, but there was a note that said leave keys in drop box. The motel is not a bad place, but you can hear a burp so I would say, don't stay here if you really want peace and quiet and certainly not in room 114 or 115

On our way to Tahoe, we stopped overnight and stayed here. It is off the main drag by only a block. It was super clean and friendly. They offer continental breakfast, and they also have a BBQ picnic area. Very nice, and super affordable. Walking distance to downtown area.

She gave us an upstairs room & on the way up the stairs I could hear San unpleasant male voice. We went into our room & closed the door & that voice was very loud as in next room. When I looked out the window there he was bottle in hand getting cozy with a woman while standing on the balcony. I went down to the office & requested another room. The office was gracious, kind, & understanding & our new room was far away from him. I felt safe & respected

I booked a room for two nights (march 2021). I was travelling by myself and picked the cheapest place I could find in Bishop. I was ready for a below average place but it was not. It was very clean, more space than most hotel rooms, it had a refrigerator, the tv worked great with lots of channels, and the wifi was perfect, far better internet than I get at home or work!

I booked 2 nights at the Mountain View online. I received confirmation of my stay via email. When I arrived on Friday night, there was a sign directing me to check-in using the phone by the front door.

I made the call, gave my name, and was told the hotel was overbooked and that they forgot to call me, and they would reverse the charge. The clerk then directed me to try two other hotels instead. I found another place that Mountain View suggested, but MV still charged me for the stay. I called them to correct it, but they would not reverse it. They said I no-showed event though I spoke to someone over the phone. In one word: FRAUD. In four words: they stole my money.

The guy that was called to check out this bugs gave my hubby a sarcastic remark "Lets go see what the BIG PROBLEM is". He told my hubby once you turn off the lights the bugs will go away. My hubby told him he didn't want to stay there to cancel his reservations. Do you know that they still charged him for a room he did not stay in. I called to complain the guy who answered the room (which was the same guy) yelled at me saying they offered him a Suite which they did not and said he stayed in the room for 1 hr he did not, which my credit card statement can prove cause he checked into another hotel and that guy basically told me too bad he got charged and YELLED AT ME SAYING I CURSED HIM which I DID NOT. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. Ive never experienced a company which treated me like that. Really no class at all. DO NOT STAY THERE

Don't stay here! This is a 50's motel, "upgraded" with noisy 70's window-type A/C, cheap plastic furnishings and an old tube-type TV. Worst of all for us, we believed the web ad that this is a pet friendly place. Our small goldendoodle was declared when we checked in and we paid the overpriced $100 rate. Three hours later, the person describing herself as the assistant manager knocked on our door and demanded $25 "for the dog". I noted the dog friendly assurance on the web and the reply: "Actually, the owner hates dogs - that is just marketing." I refused to pay, calling it a bait and switch. It got worse - "I will just charge your card". I said "no, I will just check out. I don't accept fraud." She refused the refund! In addition, the so-called breakfast was stale pastries with thin watery coffee. Avoid this one - there are a LOT of motels in Bishop.

I believe that this is the first one-star rating I've ever given. If there was a 'zero' I would rate just that. The motel is run down, noisy and grubby. Hairs and cracks in the shower but I felt compelled to clean up after staying there. Staff exceptionally RUDE. Breakfast stale. All in all, you'd be better off sleeping in your car rather than this hovel.

We had a horrible experience. The owner is rude. The room was dirty. It was noisy. Breakfast was just mild and cereal. We had bugs on our pillows. It was such an awful experience we ended up paying without staying. if you do decide to go here ask to see the room before paying!
