Nestled in a convenient and picturesque location, the Creekside Inn is celebrated for its serene creekside setting and fire pits. While the staff is often commended for their friendliness, some visitors have noted lapses in service quality. Despite the high regard for cleanliness and room comfort, critiques have surfaced regarding value, citing additional fees and room rates that seem disproportionate to the experience. The inn's atmosphere draws guests in with its warmth, even as a few suggest improvements in lighting and decor.

We stayed at this hotel for four days over Christmas and loved the setting, the fires by the creek and t he hot tub and the path along the creek. The fireplace in the lobby was beautiful and always burning and the Christmas decorations were lovely. It snowed while we were staying and the staff was very diligent about shoveling the paths and parking lot right away. It was more expensive than the other hotels we looked at in Bishop but worth the extra money as it was a very festive place to spend Christmas. Rustic and a little like the Disney Grand Californian. We also loved the daily breakfast which was a scrambled egg dish that was different every day. There was a keurig in the room also which was nice but it was really just as easy to get a coffee at the breakfast area. Our only complaint (and the only reason it was a 4 star and not 5 because it really was a great hotel) was that there was a discrepancy in the charges which we did not realize initially. There is a daily concierge fee of about $20 that is not included in the hotel room price, and appeared on our statement as taxes, but was in fact taxes plus a concierge fee. It was not an excessive amount and the hotel was probably still worth it but still it seemed a little underhanded to present this extra fee as taxes. Just something to know when you book, that you should be aware they will be adding to your base price. Still I highly recommend the hotel, just know it will cost a little more than you thought.

Hello Lajolla22, We are so happy you were able to enjoy the Creekside at Christmas, it is such a special time of year. We try to keep our guest informed by noting the hotel fee in your confirmation email, and it is also in our terms and conditions when you book. When you make your reservation online there is a clickable option to view the breakdown of all fees where this information is included. Thank you again LaJolla22 and Best Wishes for a Happy New Year. Be aware during Covid 19 things will be out of the ordinary at Creekside. Masks are required. There is NO housekeeping during your stay, you empty your own trash, fetch extra towels, toilet paper etc. The hotel is either very short staffed or providing poor customer service because it was impossible to get the front desk to answer calls for assistance and we had a clogged toilet and a broken fridge and there wasn't a maintenance person on site. Also, unless you are 10 and under forget using the pool or spa because it is over run with children all the time. Last, the little eat-in diner area is also closed, so no breakfast - cold grab and go bag instead, and no afternoon snacks. Other than that, the rooms are large and the grounds are very nice. Not sure we'll be back anytime soon.

Dear Kat_Ed, Thank you for choosing the Bishop Creekside Inn and for writing a review. We're happy to hear that you found the rooms and grounds to be very nice but sorry that the Covid-19 adjustments left you disappointed. I have only been the General Manager here for a couple of weeks and have made hiring my top priority. I've hired three maintenance workers, a front desk agent, laundry worker, and two housekeepers. The hiccups that you experienced will not be a reoccurring event. I hope you will come back and stay with us again soon so you can see our many improvements. Sincerely, Paul Sala General Manager Bishop Creekside Inn

There is actually really a creek running through the property. Nice pool and spa. Really nice fixtures too in the rooms, stylish bedside lamps each have two plugs, fridge, micro, Kuerig coffee maker, walk in shower, small patio/balcony. Really comparable to the nicest, most expensive places we’ve ever stayed. My wife commented on all the southwest and nature art including a Remington in the lobby. Grand foyer at entrance is impressive. Breakfast was skimpy, blame covid. Great nearby eats too. We really look forward to staying there next time we pass that way.

We’ve stayed at Creekside many times over the last five years. We always recommended this hotel to friends. This time the lack of friendly customer service was disappointing. If you enquire about availability of your room before the four pm check in they act like you’re crazy. They immediately tell you it’s $50 for early checkin. I just wanted to know if the room was ready then I could decide about checking in early. When they finally did call us to say our room was ready at 3:30 pm they went on about towels. If I wanted towels we were to place them in paper bag outside our room door. They would then put clean towels outside our room in a paper bag. I understand COVID precautions but this sounded nuts. I don’t want clean towels in the hallway while people walk by. To make everyone feel less like we were imposing on the front desk staff a friendly explanation about the delay in room cleaning and other options to get clean towels. Usually they offer a very nice hot breakfast, understandably COVID rules must be followed but they did not give much information on what they were offering. The person said grab and go.

If we stay again I will be prepared to be greeted from a cold front desk staff.

Dear Donnajean, Please accept my apologies for the difficulties you experienced during your recent stay and my gratitude for the time you took to tell us about them. I'm sure it was frustrating to arrive at the hotel and get quoted policy after a long drive. That isn't the way we want to greet our guests. Just to be clear to other people who might read this review, we are happy to check guests in early between 2pm and 4pm, if the room is available, at no additional charge. The $50 early check in fee applies to guests who wish to check in between noon and 2pm. As you can imagine, with a check-out time of 11am and 10-20 early check-in requests every day, this can place a lot of stress on a small housekeeping team that is taking extra time to clean rooms. I'm glad to hear that we were able to get you in a little early. It sounds like we failed to communicate a couple of COVID related items properly. In regards to the linen exchange, we seal the new linens in plastic bags to protect them and are happy to provide linens and terry at the front desk anytime. Breakfast has also changed as a result of COVID. We spent all last winter tearing out two rooms so we could expand our breakfast area, add a breakfast buffet room, and build a kitchen, only to have COVID strike and sideline our plans. We will have a hot breakfast buffet when things "go back to normal" but for now we're offering fresh warm home-made muffins, juice, and coffee and waiving all breakfast fees. I'm sorry if this was not communicated to you. I see that you have been a regular guest for the past few years and I want to thank you for that. The way that we deliver messages can significantly impact how someone feels about our properly. I'm going to share your review with the front desk staff and talk about how we can better let people know about their check-in options, breakfast, and our linen exchange. Thank you very much for your feedback. Sincerely, Paul Sala General Manager Bishop Creekside Inn

I will begin with the positive and I would have given one star ⭐️ if it weren’t for the front desk staff when we checked-in who did their best.

It’s a beautiful property & appears to have recently been update with the clear exception of the HVAC system. The rooms are large & well appointed, the location couldn’t be better & a short walk to the famous Erick Schat's Bakery as well as other good restaurants. The breakfast area and food was outstanding, while we had picked up food from Erick Schat's Bakery they had a excellent selection of pastries, coffee, OJ, yogurt and cereal. The area was very clean and comfortable.

The front desk staff genuinely try & are very cordial but the HVAC system is horrible, I suppose it’s an engineering or capacity issue but the room remained at or above 80 degrees until about 4:00am the following morning. On our first attempt at a room it was incredibly uncomfortable and in an attempt to find a room with better A/C front desk staff moved us but the A/C was nonexistent in the second room as well, we were careful not to set the thermostat below 72 but by 9:00pm the temperature still hadn't dropped so we finally just turned it off given it was blowing hot air.

Prior to turning it off the front desk staff attempted some fixes over the phone but nothing worked & again it was warmer in the room than outside.

While the fan the front desk staff provided did circulate the hot air in the room, the nonexistent of the A/C made for a miserable sleepless night & at $180.00 a night not a cheap miserable sleepless night.

While we transition through Bishop often from our home in Nevada in route to our home in Palm Spring, possibly the winter would be more tolerable but not the summer. We will avoid the Creekside Inn & would suggest avoiding it as well until they figure out and or resolve the A/C situation out.

My daughter and I stayed here at the creekside inn for a brief 2-day business trip. I couldn't have been more pleased!

The big things were more than covered... The beds are comfortable, with plush duvets and actually comfortable fluffy pillows. Not my typical hotel motel experience! The hotel was very quiet and our room was attractive and well appointed. The front desk staff was so helpful and very very friendly. Always a plus! The entire unit was spotlessly clean. The public areas are closed right now due to covid-19 restrictions but appeared comfortable and inviting. I would love to go sit by the fireplace when things are different.

I really noticed the comfortable details in the small things. The drinking glasses are upgraded. The faucet fixtures and the shower are definite upgrades from your typical stay. I loved the Keurig coffee maker! The light fixtures all have plugs in their bases, no crawling around the floor trying to unplug a clock to figure out how to plug your phone charger in. Very thoughtful.

The weather was chilly and windy so we didn't spend a great deal of time walking the grounds. Our balcony overlooked the creek and the morning before we left we saw an egret wading in the creek. It seems very attractive and would probably be beautiful in the summer.

All together this was a very pleasant experience, and if your travels take you to Bishop I would highly recommend staying at the creekside inn.

Dear April, Thank you taking the time to write such a nice review and for choosing the Bishop Creekside Inn. We are delighted that you enjoyed some of the "little things" that make the Creekside Inn special. The egret is a regular guest; maybe next time you will spot the otter. We hope you can come back soon and that the lobby, breakfast area, and fireplace will be back in action. Sincerely, Paul Sala General Manager Bishop Creekside Inn

On our cross country road trip we chose standard hotels or something that looked a bit out of the ordinary. Bishop Creekside Inn appeared to have beautiful landscaping, a large pool, a meandering creek, and well appointed rooms. It was a bit more than we usually spend, but we decided to take a risk. We were not disappointed. From easy check-in with friendly staff, to our room (large, modern looking and clean), to our swim and picnic dinner by the pool, we felt such peace and comfort. The landscape design is spectacular and the walking path by the creek with benches and tables was inviting. There is a large fire pit gathering place with plenty of chairs. My husband and I both noticed staff walking the hallways and grounds on what appeared to be a schedule, checking on things and even asked us if we needed help with anything. In the morning we found the self serve breakfast more than adequate and we took our food and drink out to a table by the creek to enjoy. Oh, and did we mention they provide complimentary bags of ice for your cooler? We decided this would be a great jumping off location for hiking, fishing, and biking and it was confirmed by two families we visited with. Next time, Bishop Creekside Inn will be a destination rather than a passing through stop. Only change I'm going to make is to request a second floor room with balcony facing the creek. Upon check out we were given a card that mentions their sister property, Olympic Lodge, in Port Angeles, WA. Looks like another road trip! Hah!

In my opinion, Creekside Inn is the nicest hotel in Bishop in terms of property upkeep. The grounds are beautufully maintained with a nice pool and spa and ample patio seating for outdoor relaxation. The creekside view room makes for a relaxing stay because the rooms overlook the creek. One can sit out in ones patio or balcony and watch the ducks that swim in the creek. Super relaxing. The staff are very friendly and professional. The only negative, and for me this is a BIG negative, there are no housekeeping services. I know this practice started when COVID hit but I feel like many hotels, including Creekside Inn, found it saved them a significant amount of money and decided to maintaim the policy of not cleaning rooms daily. I have a real problem with putting my trash can(s), dirty coffee cups, and soiled towels outside my door in the morning and then returning to towels and cups wraped in plastic sitting on the carpet outside my door. Also, one of my greatest pleasures about traveling is coming back to a room with a freshly made bed. If I were paying a cheap price I would have a lower expectation but the rates at Creekside are such that one would expect a "full service" hotel. Wish I could have given them a 5 but housekeeping services are big for me.

This is a beautiful hotel, very near Schat's. We got a double queen 1st floor room, adjacent to the parking lot. Location was okay but we had to keep some curtains closed because the slider was adjacent to a back entrance and the parking lot, with lots of people going in and out. Our "airy" room was very dark because the walls were painted dark brown and the lamps emitted very low light. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was very nice. However, at checkout, a "hotel fee" of $17.50 was added PER NIGHT for amenities such as wifi and swimming pool. Not mentioned on the website. Reviews mentioned a complimentary breakfast but you must pay now. We did get breakfast the first morning - meh - but went to Jack's just down the street thereafter. Also, Schat's is almost next door for coffee and pastries.

Less than impressed. Nice lobby and breakfast area. Smooth checkin - two agents at counter bundled in heavy coats
Luggage access to room recommended to use sliding door rather than hall entry
Beds - comforters without top sheets. Way tooooo warm for us. Requested sheets and blankets from lobby agent. “We do not have blankets”. We requested extra sheets and slept that way.
Wall heater unit solid hummmm all night - no matter if on or off
Not a restful stay.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your visit to the Creekside Inn. Winters in Bishop are known for their beautiful sunny skies and cold winter nights; for that reason, we have provided our staff with black cardigans as their winter uniforms. Our wall units have heat, air conditioning and fan only settings. On our future visits we recommend turning off the fan option and lowering the thermostat to your preference or contacting our front desk for assistance. Thank you, Tabitha J Corporate Operations
