We have been coming up here since 2015 and we always have a wonderful, relaxing stay, This year we had a ground floor King room with an amazing view of the bay and the ocean. The room had a patio and a fireplace. Internet worked well. The facilities were fantastic. Pool (saltwater) was heated to 80+ degrees and they had a salt water hot tub that overlooked the bay. An ideal place to watch the sunset. They also have outdoor fire-pits. We played bocce ball, relaxed by the pool and generally had a wonderful stay. Some evenings they have a wine and cheese hour but we generally prefer to bring our own wine and cheese as we have favorites.

Views are amazing, rooms are very spacious.

Some items could be tweaked, rooms smell musky - rooms are by the ocean, found some linens with stains, heater is a bit loud, missing items (umbrella on the first day which we wouldn’t really care but it was downpour when we arrived), towels could be updated and service for insignificant things were inconsistent (sometimes pillow chocolates).

Pool area was amazing - hot tub a little small, wooden seating areas with fire pits was nice, tea/coffee in the mornings at the lobby was good quality, some scheduled hotel events mostly around the weekend, only had breakfast once at Drakes food was average coffee way too strong and overpriced. Rooms were clean, patio was a good size. Robes were plush and warm. Room slippers were handy. Water in the room everyday. Staff are friendly and polite. Sleep machine was awesome!

I would suggest getting your sundries before arriving to Bodega Bay as everything is overpriced.

Safe travels!

We had the best time ever. The place is gorgeous, the room was immaculate, and the staff couldn't be anymore kind and professional. If you're looking for a quiet place and wonderful place this is it! Dinner at The Drake appeared to be just the couples and one family or two exclusively. I hadn't experienced a dining situation like that before. Absolutely no rush at all and the food and service was top notch. Outside our second story balcony we could see a good portion of the bay and beyond and noticed people enjoying the huge hot tub, pool and round fire pit into the evening, all lit up with the backdrop of the bay in the distance. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable and bathroom/shower was huge. After we returned from a full day of sightseeing all the attractions in the area the bed was freshly made and the room was stocked with all the special amenities required. The complimentary chocolates was a nice touch as was the brand new presto type log in the huge fire place with a box of matches and a framed set of instructions. Two robes and slippers in the closet was great as well. One of my favorites parts was how quiet it is there. Being in, lodges, felt like you were in your own studio apartment. Overall we had an amazing time that we will always remember!

Plus side--heated bathroom floor, woodburning fireplace, high beamed ceiling in room, pretty good food and drink on property, large outdoor jacuzzi with endless edge overlooking the bay. Negative side: The sauna is clearly broken and staff is in denial. First a bellboy (?), then maintenance was sent and told us to wait a half hour after pushing reset button. After an hour it was up to only 120F, then it stopped heating entirely--most disappointing.

The wine and cheese experience was insulting and inappropriate for a lodge with the pretense of luxury--thin, narrow wedges of two cheeses lay on a platter with two small bunches of grapes and honey and jam on the side, with no plates or utensils and only small paper napkins for service. A server stood by a bottle of house Chardonnay and one of Cabernet. We arrived at 3:30 PM on Friday; since the wine/cheese ended at 4:00 PM my husband sent me to have a snack and I found only crumbs of cheese on the platter and a couple of crackers. The following day there weren't even crackers.

Housekeeping was untidy and left a small bottle of Palmolive liquid dishwashing soap on our bathroom counter.

Unfortunately it was clearly have a mechanical issue. We have also revisited our wine hour set up to ensure it meets guest expectations. Having seen the rate quoted here at under $400/night, I assumed my $800. reservation was for the two rooms I’d intended to reserve. However, I learned when too late to cancel that ONEroom would be almost $800/night the first night, more the second night and over $1000.net/ for our last Friday night. Our friend’s identical room was different amounts but also escalating rates, ending at over $1000.net/night. I wish I’d read more reviews because others had noted this deceptive practice. This place, even with its gorgeous setting, was not near the quality of properties we’ve stayed at with half those rates. There were zero special touches or welcome gestures, nothing to apologize for not making their escalating rates easier to see until it was too late to cancel. A free breakfast or even bottle of local wine and empathetic word would have gone a long way to assuage our disappointment. But the reception agent was unsmiling and rigid. Same in the restaurant when I wanted to order the shrimp louis on the lunch menu for dinner. This is not something I’ve ever encountered before in a place claiming such superior quality. The room was basically clean but we noticed that the floor hadn’t been swept or anything dusted our 3rd day. We appreciated the Nespresso, but a few local snacks or a bottle of local wine would have been a welcoming touch, one usually provided by high end hotels.
Most of the hotel info including hours and menus was only online, which we found inconvenient. We moved close by to the Tides for our last night where we paid less than half the rate and had a support dinner with smiling staff who went out of their way to make us happy!

After paying $1200 plus for a 2 night stay, was not “allowed” to buy 2 glasses of wine during happy hour to bring back to our room for my husband and I to enjoy in privacy after a long day. Was told that one could only bring full priced glasses of wine back to one’s room. “Policy” ?????? FYI you can’t bring $5 glasses of wine back to your room. Only $15 per glass or more can be carried back to your room. This soured my experience with this hotel as ultimately ungracious.

This charming hotel in a beautiful Northern California coastal town exceeded our expectations. The stunning location was matched by exceptional service, especially from Carson, who provided outstanding hospitality from the moment we arrived. Despite our late check-in, he made the process quick and seamless. He also took the time to acknowledge the note I had left about our anniversary, making our stay even more special. To our surprise, he went above and beyond by leaving a thoughtful gift in our room: a bottle of wine, chocolates, and a bath bomb. He even contacted the restaurant to inform them of our celebration.

Throughout our stay, we saw Carson multiple times, and he was always friendly and attentive. Even while managing his responsibilities at the front desk and around the property, he remained engaged and welcoming. His dedication and pride in his work were evident, and his efforts truly made our weekend unforgettable.

My wife and I have been coming to the Lodge for several years now. We have never been disappointed. The location sits above Doran Beach and the bay. The staff are all professional and friendly. The rooms are clean and up to date. The property is well maintained. The Bar and Restaurant provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The drinks and food, "on point". There is a hot tub, pool and Spa onsite. This place is AWESOME!
If you want the best rooms, building, location on property for the best views, pamper yourself and/or your loved one and be prepared to spend a premium price.

Stayed here on my trip up to the Redwoods and was so pleased with it I cancelled my different plans on the way back to San Francisco so that I could stay here again. Spacious and clean rooms with complementary slippers and cozy robes. Beautiful views from the balconies overlooking the bay. The second stay I received a free, upgraded room that had a DEEP, luxurious bathtub that I soaked in, and a little better view of the bay. They made sure the room was warm since we arrived on a cold evening and had a bottle of wine ready to pour. The restaurant Drakes is good and super convenient as it is less than a minute walk from the rooms - never had to wait for a seat. The restaurant and the lodge also have several fire pits with cushioned seating and pillows to relax and enjoy the view/food (breakfast as well, which was delicious). A gated area surrounds the inviting hot tub and pool which are open until 11 and have towels - overall 10/10.

Exceptional customer service and spotless rooms.
The front desk staff are friendly, kind, welcoming. The rooms are exceptionally clean. Kudos to the housekeeping.
Really enjoyed our stay there. Highly recommend the stay.
Tip to the staff:
May be just post the lobby events in the front lobby e.g., coffee served daily from 7:00am - 9:00am , s’mores etc. this way the check in line can move a bit faster and save the staff a bit if time repeating the same stuff to every guest. And guests can rennet it each time they come in or out.

Overall a fabulous and memorable stay.
BTW - don’t let the exterior fool you - it is a bit dated

Is there an elevator to second floor rooms? Thanks!
Answer from snowdrops
Vancouver, Canada105 contributions33 helpful votes
There isn't an elevator to the second floor rooms. If you are hoping for a view from the second floor, there is a set of rooms along the front that are one story high and they have the best views. The two story units behind have smaller rooms and the ground floor rooms in these builds will have limlited views.

Hello Eileen F, thank you for reaching out and sorry for the delay here! Our robes come from a supplier called Sobel Textile. We do sell them in our gift shop and we are able to ship them out to you if you're interested.

The picutres at the website make the furnighings look luxurious and the rooms updated but we found the furnishings very basic. Not luxury at all. Honestly, though Hilton hotels can be great, they are basic and the Lodge at Bodeego Bay has this level of furnighings, towels, sheets, bed frames etc though their restaurant was lovely.
