We had a very nice King garden room and the room was very comfortable and very clean. Nice small patio that overlooked a garden area and very private. Only negative was the guests upstairs had a child that ran back and forth in the early morning and sounded like an elephant running across the ceiling. All in all a very...

After visiting the Hearst Castle we checked in to the Blue Bird Motel---we had reserved a room off the garden and it was a real joy to be able to sit outside the room with a glass of wine and enjoy the peace and quiet and even watch a couple of deer munch on the greenery. The decor of the...

the title says it all. I'd add that it is a bit pricey for what you get, except that in Cambria the prices are jacked up on just about everything (except the do it yourself frozen yogurt place). Old fashioned bathroom. Coffee and tea available in the cozy lobby.

This is an old-fashioned family-run business. The lobby is not open 24 hours, but it is a spacious place for folks to read by the fireplace, play the piano, etc. The owners have some interesting touches such as a cuckoo clock and an antique music box in the lobby. In the morning, they provide coffee and sweet bread to get...

This was stop 3 in our journey from San Francisco to LA. We got a room overlooking the car park. It was in need of a revamp. The motel has a garden which we unfortunately couldn't take advantage of due to the cold weather- California can be very cold in the evening even in late June. The breakfast consisted of...

I stayed 4 nights at various times when I vacationed in southern & central Calif. in March of 2012. Besides being near Hearst Castle the town its located in is a GEM. Its a little pricey but worth the $. You won't find many bargains in Cambria, but its truely a lovely little town after visiting both LA and San...

We've stayed here a number of times before and always find it clean, comfortable and a very good value for this part of the California central coast. Rooms/motel are old 1950s style and basic but all you'd really need as an operating base to many local sights like Hearst Castle, Highway 1 scenic drive, Morro Bay, antique stores, etc. Rooms...

The innkeepers are super nice and helpful, you really get a family feel here. The rooms are old-fashioned and clean and the gardens and creek behind the motel are very pretty with lots of flowers. And it's next door to the Black Cat (best restaurant in town) and within easy walking distance of pretty much everything else in town. You...

This was a charming 1950s style motel in the beautiful town of Cambria. We were greeted warmly when we stopped to see if there was a vacancy, and were told there would be pound cake and coffee in the lobby in the morning. The room was like the ones we stayed in when I was a child, but it was...
