A friend and I used a Groupon for four nights here in January. It's a beautiful spot, but adjust your expectations. I'll preface this by saying I was last in Costa Rica over ten years ago, and it is much more commercialized than it was even then. In other words they recognize the value of the tourist dollar and prices...

Hola! Please know we very much appreciate your comments and read each review with an eye to improving. I’d like to take advantage of a few points mentioned: 1. The weather – Our rainforest weather usually enjoys a temperature ranging from 24 to 30 degrees Celsius during the day and normally, a delightful rainfall takes place mid-afternoon for an hour....

We travelled to Blue River Resort to go horseback riding and hike through the rainforest and were not disappointed! From our original communication before our trip to our drive out of the facilities with big waves and smiles, we were treated like royalty. The ride and hike with our guide Gionvani were amazing! Giovani was safe and knowledgeable and exceptional...

This hotel is pretty far from anything else, along a very rough road (took us 50 minutes to drive 15 km). We prepaid four nights expecting to have plenty to do plus have time to relax in the hot springs. The largest hot spring was not open, so we had three to choose from. The sauna and mud area was...

Hola Michele – We appreciate your review. All remarks are shared and taken seriously. If I may, permit me to expand and answer a few of the remarks: 1. The Road: Though the last few kilometers of road to get here is on a gravel road, the time to get to the resort from the airport in Liberia should take...

We booked this resort through a Groupon Getaways deal right before Christmas. It was a 3 night stay for 2 people, including breakfast and 2 activities for both guests (either ziplining, horseback ride to a waterfall, or tubing). Extra were other meals, taxes, and the shuttle to/from the airport. Staff - the staff here are great. I had several email...

Hola – thanks for taking the time to create this review and for your insightful observations. I’m reading a lot about the rain. Keep in mind that any holiday can be hampered by too much rain. A little rain or an hour of rain in the afternoon is normal over here. In fact its a wonderful relief and its what...

If you are looking for an up-scale 5 star American resort this is not it. As others have said, it is an hour down a miserable dirt road. The others who comment as to why they don't fix it have obviously not driven very far in Costa Rica because all of the smaller roads are in similar shape and I...

Hola – thank you for your kind and generous complements I wish to reiterate what you write, in that we don’t have every comfort of a 5 star hotel and we don't charge those prices. We emphasize casual comfort, service, value and most of all, nature’s bounty which permits the many unique amenities and Eco-adventure tours. Regarding WiFi, unfortunately, it...

This is a great, small, Costa Rican country resort. We stayed 1 night. Come for the Costa Rican rugged feel. Sweet rooms or small cabins with a hammock in front. Very relaxing We spotted beautiful toucan birds in the trees out front. Adorable miniature horses grazing. Plants, flowers and wildlife pictures abound. We chose a waterfall guided tour and swam...

My wife booked 3 nights at blue river resort as one of four destinations for our family of five's xmas 2014 Costa Rica tour. This was our first destination, and as I write I am at our second; a very expensive private home near arenal volcano. This is my second time in CR and I have travelled extensively. I read...

We chose this place from a list of possible tours on our first trip to Costa Rica. HOW LUCKY CAN YOU BE? On the drive up we thought we had made the wrong choice...the road is terrible!!! but we found out, well worth the trip. First, brace yourself for a bumpy ride to the resort!! It was definitely more than an hour drive from Liberia airport, but we made it back to LIR in about 1hr 15mins, since we were more comfortable with the roads by then. The resort staff were very welcoming and the grounds are really well-maintained. Our favorite part was the the...
