We stayed one night at Koshinzuka Ryokan in Ohtsumago, directly on the beautiful Edo mail trail from Magome to Tsumago. Our experience was absolutely stunning. The traditional and wonderful home of Masa. Our room view to the river running in the backyard. The exquisite and delicious 6-8 course dinner served around the fireplace of the house was a memory that...

We stayed at Koshinzuka for a night and the experience we had was amazing! From the unique lodging by the river to the incredible food and the impeccable service by Masa and his family, this has to be the greatest highlight of our 17 days trip in Japan. I've to say, Masa is such a darling! He's humble, easy going,...

Ever since I was young, I've had a fascination for Japan. I've loved to read about the culture and traditions. Our trip there last October exceeded expectations and there was one place that stood out above all the others - Minshuku Koshinzuka. We stayed in a variety of places in our 3 and a half week visit, but this was...

Your search for a minshuku in Tsumago ends here. Koshinzuka is warm, cozy, very friendly and more. The hosts Masa-san and Yumi-san were superb hosts. Masa-san enthusiastically introduced Tsumago and it's culture to us and performed songs while Yumi-san's golden touch produced unforgettable Japanese meals. Facilities including toilets and shower are modern and clean too. Despite being in winter and...

I'm writing this review to thank a special couple who means the world to me. They're none other than Masahiro-san and Yumi-san,both of whom have become family. This lovely place is no longer merely a minshuku; it's home, with people who are like my parents caring for me. Thank you Masahiro-san and Yumi-san for: 1. Welcoming me and my husband...

We spent just one night here at this traditional minshuku on the Nakasendo Way and it was fabulous. We walked 12.5 miles here from further up the trail and were welcomed into this lovely home. Our room was charming; a traditional japanese set up as you would expect, but with the lovely addition of a balcony overlooking a little garden,...

We had the pleasure of spending 2 nights at Koshinzuka during a 3 week trip to Japan and I have to say that it was was one of the many highlights of our holiday. The setting is very nice in itself but what makes the whole experience truly memorable is the warmth and friendliness of the host family including song...

We stayed at Koshinzuka only one night and it was our best experience of Japan. The place is wonderful, real traditional style. The food was perfect and the host is superb: he told us many things about Tsumago and japanese culture, and he also sang a old traditional song. Perfect stay, we couldn't hope in a better experience.

Koshinzuka is a traditional Japanese inn near Tsumago-juku. Taking off your shoes, you stand in the tatami-clad common area, where meals and stories are shared with the host and other guests. There are only three guest rooms, making it easy to get to know other guests over a glass of sake or cup of tea. Meals are special at Koshinzuka....
