Very refined, featuring a calm and Japanese style feeling. Very good quality of onsen. They have both indoor and outdoor onsen. You can enjoy relaxing view and the fresh air. Nothing fancy. Just good onsen. They have onsen eggs which are steamed or boiled in the hot spring water. Tasty.

The onsen here is hot as can be and nestled in a small valley surrounded by mountains. The dinners we had were totally authentic and unbelievable but make sure you have someone who speaks Japanese secure your reservation and get you the breakfast and dinner packages. We had a great time at the Goshikionsen. The amenities are clean, inexpensive, and the food is great. Defintiely get the traditional Japanese style room over the western style room. this is a real get away. relatively far away from the towns. old school type with all wooden bathtubs. you can smell the strength which is what a real onsen can give you. need your own car to get there.

The day started out great, fresh snow, bluebird and low avalanche risk. We started out in Grand Hirafu ski area then hiked to the peak where we could see the Onsen.
