Detailed Reviews
Had a wonderful stay at the resort. Stayed in the Boomtown Cabin. Very basic with toilet paper and broom for supplies. Bring extension cords, hand soap, tissue nothing else supplied. The cabin had 14 bunk beds but said slept 8. I'm not sure if that was because of Covid restrictions? We had 7 but need other bunk space for storage so you really couldn't fill beds and still have room for things. Mattress was thin but we just doubled up mattress since we had 14 which was fine and made room for storage. Only two of the outlets in the room where accessible as the rest are blocked by the bunk beds. Showers where near by but not cleaned daily and curtains had mildew. Entering and exiting resort requires you to open and close gate. Great location near river. Grass area is watered daily so if you lay item to dry near grass the sprinklers might wet things. The general store in the resort closed at 5pm. Short walk to the State Park Museum which is free but cost to park so best to just walk from the resort. Great for large groups different accommodations to pick from. American rafting tour was 5 min drive. Did floating from from resort to Lotus Park which we used as a free pick up place for our group. Watch when the dam is closed as the water level will lower and makes it harder to tube down river. Would definitely recommend. Wish the high ropes where open but was closed due to Covid. Not crowded but we stayed midweek so maybe crowded on weekends when dam is open and more rafters? Hooverville Orchard had great pies near by and the pizza shop just across Lotus Bridge had good pizza.

The location of the river is nice, grassy areas were great for cooler spots and it was nice having electricity and water at each spot. Those were the positives.
One restroom for 13 camping spots while there was a huge group camping weekend going on was ridiculous. Toilet paper constantly ran out and even after the daily cleaning, toilet seat covers ran out within 5 minutes.
The large group was having their annual camping weekend (it was well over 50 people) and on Friday night the music and noise promptly stopped at 10pm. Not sure what happened on Saturday night when the music, noise and partying continued until well after midnight. There was still staff onsite because we could hear their golf carts, but nothing was done to enforce the quiet time.
We are used to camping at National and State parks, so paying $100/night and having toilet paper run out and noise rules not be enforced or adhered to make this a place we won’t be returning to.

Camp ground is clean quiet and very well maintained. Sites are good sized. They also have cabins for rent. The only down side is that their WiFi is very bad if you enjoy watching tv at night be prepared to not get a connection or intermittent service. We go there twice a year so hope they improve their WiFi.

Please support this resort!!! We were under mandatory evacuations from the Caldor Fire and the Team at the Coloma Resort went above and beyond our expectations to make sure we had a site for our travel trailer for an extended period of time. They did everything humanly possible to support us during this difficult time in our lives. We are extremely appreciative for everything they did for us and want to encourage everyone to stay at the Coloma Resort!

sherry fabela/manager of coloma resort, and i went back & forth emails on the 3rd day. no return calls? i paid $432 (includes $25 cancellation fee & i requested a waiver due to covid 19 circumstances). it is a large amount for coloma to hold until next trip/2021? it is uncertain if/when planning may happen in the future. i will not return to coloma resort. they do not value the customer. services un-rendered = services refunded. i am an unsatisfied customer. i will not consider any of options provided. it is the principle, over the matter. I booked 5 months prior, pre-covid days i hope they get rich off my $25 cancellation fee! keep it, you lost a customer.

A beautiful location and a clean RV campground. They have spots for RVs, tents, cabins and hotel type rooms. The restrooms/showers are clean, the pool is perfect for the hot summer and the American River is also accessible for swimming, tubing and fishing. Just a fun family place. Not fancy, but we had so much fun we already booked a stay for next year!

Guy working the gate with short black hair and black goatee has poor sense of judgment wouldn’t let a six-year-old use the bathroom I know it’s a private campground but it’s not like we’re a huge family taking over the bathrooms for 20 minutes or some drunk bum trying to throw up in there it’s a freaking 6 year old that needs to pee. He made us walk across the bridge into Marshall Park to let the girl use the bathroom instead of letting her use his bathroom. Unbelievable. Don’t trust him with your security. Never camping here. I suggest Ponderosa RV resort right up the street.

Absolutely horrible experience! The electrical outlet melted our RV’s plug-in. And our electrical was spotty ever since. Plus there were more than 10 field roaches we saw each night after 10pm. We were literally chased by roaches. We left early and we’re not given any amount of a refund. We used to come here a lot but will no longer stay here.

We've been to Coloma in July and October. Two very different experiences. July was crowded and definitely more of a party atmosphere. We had issues with people walking through our campsites and had to constantly ask them not to. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay. We swam in the river and the pool. Checked out the museum across the street (for free since we were staying there). Drove into Placerville (about 30 minutes away). In October, its' much quieter and not very crowded. Both sites were river front which is enjoyable to see and listen to at night. We are going back in November. We really do like this campground. It's only about an hour from home so it's a convenient but great getaway.

Grounds are well taken care of. Location very nice. Our specific south fork cabin 83 was nice and all, but some minor issues found , exhaust in bath, not working, exhaust from stove not working, but no big deal...so far
But one thing being warm days in the 90's. The bedroom in the back doesn't have AC. The actual unit is in the hallway. Even with the door open, not much cool air. It was unpleasant. Other than that, it was okay . Very clean. Love the staff these guys are the best!
I will come back again. As always post your adventure where ever it takes you.
