Detailed Reviews
Arriving in darkness and having spent the last week camping in wet, sub-zero conditions, this was real luxury. For our own privacy and for the privacy of the large party of 10, we were very generously upgraded to avoid too much stepping on each others toes. Our seafront room was spacious, airy, well furnished, with a well equipped kitchen and stunning view across the water, the hot tubs a mere 10 steps away (we were messaged to let us know the spa was empty and then brought drinks outside!). Small and greatly appreciated touches. Hiiiighly recommend this place. The breakfast was also banging. Get involved in the orange and carrot marmalade if it's on offer. Aaaand there is some brilliant hiking in the area. That's what brought us to the area and in the autumn, with all the colours, it was breathtaking. Go!

While it's an hour's drive off the ring road, Blabjorg Guesthouse is worth the drive. The rooms, bathrooms, and common areas are airy, bright, and spotless. At the restaurant, the pizza is delicious, and the fish stew is literally perfect. And the KHB Brugghuis beer & spirits, made next door, are as good as any in Iceland. Don't miss this stop when you visit Iceland.

We stayed in an apartment with a sea view for two nights and to be honest I kind of wanted to stay longer despite the town having limited things to do. The accommodation was modern, spotless, spacious and comfortable.
It was well equipped, the shower and everything seemed brand new. The outdoor tubs were heavenly in all weather. Although not the cheapest, you would still be hard pressed finding a hotel room around the country for a similar price that offers even near the same level of homeliness and cozy vibes.
Enjoyed every minute even if the weather didn’t go our way. The staff were great and happy to help plus you’re just across the road from the little town store.

This is a Spectacular location right on the water, with absolutely stunning views over the bay. The hot tub is a treat. The Staff are very helpful and informative. The Restaurant food was delicious and home made (although a bit pricey)

It is worth driving over the pass to stay at this property. We already missed the puffins and it was a typical 4 season weather day but would still tell you to go. We upgraded to the fully furnished studio apt and had front row views of the ocean. In fact kelp from the stormy night before was on the deck that is how wonderfully close you are. Lots of stairs to get to the room( FYI). Spacious, clean. everything you would need in the kitchen, floor to ceiling wall of windows to ocean, quiet. Cold buffet bfast with self serve espresso machine! Best part was all the homemade goodies (try her jams, crackers, bfast bars!). Very Covid safe - we ordered dinner and they wrapped it up for us to eat in the studio, allowed us to sit apart from everyone else at breakfast - super accommodating and supportive. Less than 15 minute drive to Storoud hike (another must do, steep, stunning vistas, hike through valley to the round rocks, bring poles!). One of our favorite hikes in 3+ week clockwise visit around Iceland.

We were warmly welcomed on our arrival to Blabjorg Resort and were immediately impressed with the standard of the property and the facilities on offer. Our room was clean and comfortable and despite a sloped ceiling was relatively spacious. It made use of shared bathrooms but we never had any issue getting in to them when we needed to. The kitchen/lounge area next to the rooms was also very welcome and there were ample facilities to cook if you wanted.
As it was raining heavily when we arrived we spent a bit of time in Blabjorg's bar/restaurant as well as in the on site brewery bar. Having not been aware of this when we booked we were delighted to have this so close and loved watching the Iceland football team in action while in there. Our food (order from the main restaurant and take it into the brewery bar) and beers were first class and the service was excellent too.
Our breakfast the next morning was not only the best breakfast we had on our Iceland trip but also possibly the best hotel breakfast we've ever eaten. There was a huge selection of fresh, homecooked products and our only problem was deciding when to stop eating! We really can't praise the breakfast enough. It was that good and means we have a very positive opinion of Blabjorg.

We are travelling around the country, no fixed plans and just happened to stop at Bakkagerði (Borgarfjörður Eystri) for a night and walked over to a nice looking restaurant by the seaside. They were well packed, and we did not have a reservation, but they were sweet enough to add us anyway. I highly reccommend pre- booking as they are quite popular, and for a good reason. We had 2 starters, a mixed platter “taste from the area” and salmon, both a wonderful treat with a beautiful presentation. We then chose to have the fish of the day and the lamb of the day, also both from the area, and absolutely delicious! Again, the presentation was a delight, but the taste was incredible! We could really feel that there was both pride and care that went into creating the dishes. On top of that we had wonderful service from dedicated staff and the breathtaking surroundings as well. Had we known about the spa part in advance, we surely would have booked that, but ee will surely be back, with more time to enjoy. Our thanks for a lovely evening!

We spent two nights in Blábjörg Guesthouse and enjoyed it very much. Awesome location directly at the beach, with view on the colorful mountains of Borgarfjörður eystri (if weather permits...). Of course the hot pots are a plus, too. Good breakfast buffet and dinner in the restaurant - can recommend the Plokkfiskur and the græn pizza. Friendly staff. Would definitely come back.

The four of us went for desert at Blábjörg Guesthouse. Newly renovated with an open kitchen. The desert menu is small with only two options but you can ask the waiter for recommendations.
We ordered "Sætabrauðsgrísinn" a pizza with bananas, chocolate and almond flakes. SUCH A TREAT❤️ We also recommend to get a side of ice-cream as well to top it off.
