I stayed here before and after a 6 day pack ride with Rock Creek Pack Station. The room was small, but clean. I would have liked A/C as it was a bit toasty, but open windows kept it cool enough. Clean linens were greatly appreciated. Check-in is across the street in the mini mart/bar/restaurant. Loved the staff. They were down...

We stopped in for lunch after a hike up Rock Creek canyon. Loved the atmosphere. It was just one of those neat little country cafes that make you feel at home. Wife and I split a burger and salad. Tasty and came promptly. Lots of history on the walls. Cool.

In September I went on a three day pack trip and stayed at Tom's the night before and the final night prior to driving home. The room was small, basic, and clean. Exactly what I had expected for 65.00 a night (great price compared to Bishop motels). It's old folks, 1917, don't expect a 4 star hotel. The staff was...

I know this place is marginal at best. Last couple of times our family habit of stopping at TP for a welcome back to Mammoth cocktail and snacks for the kids have been put out by a closed sign mid to late afternoon late spring. Television and sports are way off our radar on theses trips. We here in the...

We checked in fairly late on our way to Mammoth and were just looking for a place to crash for the night and leave early to get on the slopes. Upon arrival we discovered the staff had turned on the small electric wall heaters, which was a nice touch considering it was freezing outside. We stayed in room 1, which...

If you're looking for the uniformity of motel chains like Best Western/ Comfort Inns etc. Tom's Place is definitely not for you! We had stopped off at the restaurant the previous year and had been intrigued by the place, being advised to stay in one of the 'non-rustic' cabins if we planned to stay over on a return visit. Some...

Ok, so it's not the Hilton, but why would you be staying here if you expected that? Sure, there's old bathrooms, fixtures, lack of outlets, etc., but the beds are comfy enough, and it has a nice historic feel. It was clean and neat and felt more like staying in an old mountain cabin, which it kind of is. Good,...

Wow 200 words to describe filth. To whom ever is reading these reviews you really need to heed the advice given. This place is deseased. The bathrooms are filthy, so bad that I wouldn't use. Made a trip to the portable outhouse down the street if that tells you anything. There was bloody bandages stuck on the wall by the...

Alongside the original highway 395, now owned by local folks with a stake in your comfort, lies a motel, restaurant and store with real character. Located close to fishing, and two of the finest hiking trailheads in the Sierra, this is the ideal jumping off spot. Try one of their over the top American breakfasts and you will go up...

I was in Crowley Lake to do the fireworks show for the 4th of July. I had reservations in Mammoth at the Motel 6 because they accepted pets. Tom's place does not. Motel 6 is 15 mi from Crowley Lake and I thought that was too much of a commute. At the last minute we decided to give Tom's Place...
