It's been over 6 months since e we FIRST visited Monarch Beach Resort. We came to this area for our anniversary and stayed at the Ritz down the street. Our departure day we decided to extend a night at MBR. We've been wanting to stay here for awhile and decided now is the time. The second we arrived it was pure amazement!, because being Hawaii minded we noticed the relax and openness with tropical lush plants surrounding. The service from valet was excellent. Within the first hour we noticed the difference from ritz to this. (COVID might of had something to do with it). At check in , front desk personal Marrisa made it more special with a upgrade to pool view. It was about as close to as Hawaii feel u can get. Checked humidity and temp in Kauai where we got married and it was matched to the exact! Thanks Marissa for the upgrade and warm welcome!! You were the start ....(Marissa was also seen working at the spa on another visit) To may it quick, we came back the following week for few days. This is when we inquired about the memberships. Kaitlyn helped us out with ease by text. It was quick and clear responses and she made it very easy for us. Kaitlyn offered to give us discounts off our pass stay because with a membership comes discount. Because of covid we can understand there wasn't a big presentation or lots of face to face. Thanks Kaitlyn for all your help in getting us on board with our membership! We stayed a few more times and had an issue with charges that were misunderstood. But Nicole settled it without question. She kept a smile to our face. Thanks Nicole! Now for the grounds, as usual pictures do not give clarity. It was recently transferred over to Hilton. But so far no dramatic changes. Your own private beach with restaurant, tide is high during winter and low in summer. Opposite at ritz. Tram takes u about 5 min to beach. Kids will love it. Nice friendly kid pool. Samuel rocks at the pool! Spa has a pool with hot tub. Very relaxing and quiet. The restaurant VEO is sub par. But the steak house rules and has the class , professionalism, and warmth. And the food ofocourse delicious! Get the seafood platter for sure. This review should have been done long ago, but more to come in more detail.

Hotel's Favourite
I had a high floor ocean front room on the north wing and loved it. Large terrace to enjoy the view. All the staff was excellent. Breakfast was relaxing, enjoying the sun and view. The pool and hot tubs are great. Once again, I enjoyed the view and well maintained grounds. Pool attendants were great I called valet to have my car ready, 20 minutes later I show up, and car not ready. At $60 per day, I would expect better. Resort fee of $50. Hilton Diamond members receive $50 property credit. Overall excellent stay, beautiful resort. There is a tram that runs every 15 minutes to Beach, I walked both ways, 20 minute pleasant stroll, return uphill.

This is our seventh stay at this property. We love it, we love the staff, food, amenities, location.. This is why we keep coming back year after year. They take covid precautions seriously and I am very grateful! Room was immaculate, housekeeping requests were readily attended to, this resort is maintained incredibly well! A few downsides... Service at the restaurants is slow and inconsistent. It's confusing. I just wonder if they haven't staffed it well enough for the deluge of guests. Tables were spaced well, not crowded. When food and drinks finally came, they were perfection. The wait was just frustrating. The pool is also another story. It was crowded and not adequately staffed. (I realized they sell day passes do this may contribute to an increase in numbers here) Loungers were not cleaned up in a timely fashion, causing it to look pretty destroyed by mid afternoon. It was hard to find a clean chair to sit in even though the crowd had died down. Beach side service was perfect. The trams kept running faithfully and that was amazing. All in all, we will return here without question. They're continuing to make improvements and I can see it through the years. Everything is very clean, sanitized, professionally tended to- and it feels like a haven especially in this crazy season. Thank you to the staff who work so hard to keep this place going. Their hard work allows it to be a true place of relaxation.

As a Monarch Beach member, I am at the resort frequently, usually 3-4 times per week. The facilities are magnificent, the spa, fitness and training programs are excellent, and the customer service is always very good. In particular, I would like to acknowledge the always excellent customer service of Spa Attendant Jason.

A very nice hotel that I would have rated a "5," but for the fact that the bed was way too soft and perhaps needed to be replaced. I did not sleep well in that bed. Other than that, the room was fine. I had a garden view room, but there was still a decent view of the ocean and the outdoor balcony was a very pleasant place to sit. There were hand sanitizer stations throughout the hotel which was a nice touch, but by the evening of my second day they all seemed to be empty. Plenty of unmasked guests wandering around the hotel and sitting in the lobby if that kind of thing makes you squeamish, which it would have for me, but for the fact I'm vaccinated. Unlike the guests, the staff seemed conscientious about masking. The staff at the hotel were all very friendly and helpful. Do not sleep on the jewelry store in the lobby. The last place I would have expected to find a spectacular jewelry store was in the lobby of a resort hotel, but this store was great and is an authorized Cartier dealer. I learned that the store is family-owned by a local couple and has been in the hotel for 30 some years. The owners have very good taste, the pricing is fair, the salesperson was very knowledgeable and helpful and I ended up buying two nice pieces. The other highlight of the hotel was having access to the private Monarch Bay Beach Club. The hotel tram will take you down to the Club, but it's also a nice walk. I took the tram down and walked back. The Club is right on the water and is a very nice place just to sit and contemplate the ocean. And you can eat right on the sand or on the patio overlooking the sand, although I didn't get a chance to try the restaurant. Again, if you are squeamish about Covid, I think I was the only masked person at the Club other than the staff.
