Hi Bernie! I'm sure that having to leave your home for the extermination work had to be pretty stressful so I'm glad the staff of the Marina Shores made you feel comfortable and welcome. Hopefully everything back at your house is taken care of and your family has settled back in to life as it should be. In the future, if you ever have friends or family come to visit, please remember the service spirit you experienced with us and refer them to the Marina Shores Hotel with full confidence that we will take excellent care of them.

Check in staff was courteous and helpful. Everyone was friendly. Breakfast was satisfying. They thought of little details like cheese to put on the eggs and chocolate chips to add on the pancakes. There were gluten free, low fat and keto options. Get there early. Breakfast ended

Thank you for the wonderful review of your time at the Marina Shores and we are so happy that you enjoyed your time with us and in Dana Point. I LOVE it when people comment that "this is an older hotel, but ..." Modern, pre-fab, steel and glass construction may have it's place, but cookie-cutter hotels are so impersonal and boring. Our area of the beach community is very historic and it's an honor to be a part of that design and feeling that keeps Dan Point from turning into a tourist trap. Awesome observation and thank you again.

We stayed the night before taking a day trip to Catalina Island. This is a very clean, well kept facility, conveniently located on Pacific Coast Hwy, very close to Dana Point Harbor. We would highly recommend it, if you’re looking to stay in the area!!!!

Thank you so much for the wonderful review, both of the Marina Shores Hotel and our fantastic little beach community. Isn't it amazing that, in this day and age, it is still the simplest human interactions - pleasant greetings and friendly conversation - that we notice the most? We are thrilled that you enjoyed your brief stopover and hope your next trip allows you to be our guest a little longer!

Thank you for the great review and Bobby sends his best. I'm so glad you mentioned the "locals" aspect because that's something often missed in reviews. Hotels everywhere are inundated with promotional offers from local restaurants and shops - recommend us to your guests and we'll give your staff great discounts - kind of a "you scratch our back and we'll scratch yours" thing. At the Marina Shores, we'd rather make the best referrals we can so we simply ask "what are you in the mood for?" and go from there. We know the dives with the best barbecue, we know where the locals go when they want the best seafood, steaks or foreign cuisines and we would rather send you someplace where you'll come back happy (and full!) than someplace that will give us 50% off because we dropped their name. I'll take this opportunity to remind all travelers that a hotel is not just a place to stay while you're in town. It is literally a base of operations while you plan out your activities, so knowing that the staff has your best interests and comfort at heart is a big plus. Referrals for dining and sightseeing can make or break a vacation. Business travelers looking for a brief respite from work need to know they can count on the recommendations made by the staff - your time is valuable and we will always do our best to make sure you enjoy ALL aspects of your stay, even the ones that take place away from the Marina Shores Hotel!

We have several wheelchair accessible rooms with roll in showers. Yes, they have balconies and TONS of open floor space in the room. The balconies are small, but these particular ADA rooms are located at the end of the building that's closest to the beach, so what "view" we have to offer, their particular location in the best. I recommend you call us directly to make the reservation and ask specifically for room 338. If it is available, it is your best option.

We are a block and a half off Doheny State Beach and make it a point never to imply that our rooms have an ocean view. From the balconies of our two room suites you get a glimpse of the ocean, across the street and through the palm trees. If you check the beachfront hotels in town, I'm confident you will find rates much higher than ours, but if the view and sound of the Pacific is part of what you're looking for, the higher prices will be well worth it. At the Marina Shores, the ocean peek is free, along with our breakfast, WiFi and fantastic service! Peter Callan, General Manager

All children under 18 stay for free (with a registered adult, of course). Also, if you would like a crib for your grandson, we offer those at no additional charge; just make sure you put the request in with your reservation - that way we can deliver it to the room before you arrive and help make your check-in that much easier.

The pet area by the hotel is very small, but there is a park that is pet friendly up the hill behind the hotel.

Is there a charge for parking?
Yes, we charge $10.00/night for parking. If you're still shopping for the best deal, please know that most the hotels in town charge more than $20 for parking, plus they have hidden resort fees (which we DON'T charge.) If by chance you're a Best Western Rewards member at Diamond or Platinum level, then parking is free with us.
