Situated near the majestic Yosemite, the Yosemite View Lodge offers travelers an enviable location praised for its park access. While the rooms are appreciated for their size and handy kitchenettes, guests have called out the need for updating and improving cleanliness standards. Service at the lodge can be hit or miss, with some staff members providing prompt attention and others appearing inattentive. Amenities like the pool are generally well-received, though the extra charge for Wi-Fi and maintenance issues did not escape guests' notice. The dated atmosphere and perceived high costs have led to mixed opinions on the lodge's overall value.

Our room had its entrance in highway but the balcony was facing the mountain/river (we could not see the river but the view to the mountains was amazing!).
The room and bathroom were clean and spacious. The body soap and shampoo were environmental friendly and nice wood smell (nice touch fit for where the environment of the hotel). There was hot water around the clock (we checked in the morning and late evening). The negative with the bathroom was the shower where the water was not draining fast enough (10min to empty bathtub after a shower, so you were showering and you feet were in dirty water).
The room had a kitchenette with coffee maker, toaster, microwave, small sink, electric burners, refrigerator and basic utensils (pots and plates). Nice touch was the clean (non open) sponge for washing dishes and the dish wash soap. The kitchenette is perfect for fast small meals and boil water for hot drinks.
The hotel is close to the Park entrance, a short drive. There is also a bus that connects the hotel with the Park and train station.
In the area of the hotel there are two restaurant (a fancier one with bar and a pizza place) that provide dinner and breakfast. We just tried the fancier one for dinner and it was acceptable (the burger was good, but the steak combined with salad and soup lower than our expectations).
Next to the reception there is a small shop with food choices and souvenirs. The WiFi is an additional $10 per 24h otherwise there is no connection to the outside world (no cell reception until you reach Yosemite Park).

My family stayed here for 3 nights in a 2 queen bed river view room. First, this is a hotel that caters to people who plan to be gone all day in Yosemite. Our balcony facing the river was HUGE with nice outdoor patio furniture. The rooms are dated, but I felt the room itself was very clean. After a long day hiking, the huge bathroom was much appreciated. I wished the water pressure was stronger, but there were two shower heads on each end of the shower, so it worked out fine.

The kitchenette was a lifesaver, especially during the pandemic. Many local restaurants were closed and the park offers a lot of "grab and go" burgers and pizza. We were able to shop at the well stocked El Portal Market and make a healthy breakfast each morning and pack a lunch for the trail. Dinner was more difficult, but the onsite pizza place was good. There are not a lot of options in the park.

The kids loved the pool in the evening. My husband and I enjoyed cocktails on the patio at night. I also enjoyed coffee on the patio each morning. With 90 degree temps last week, we all appreciated the air conditioning!

The grounds are extensive and it is a very rural area, so there is dirt and dust everywhere. Critters may wander onto your patio. Maintenance staff could have probably done a little better job of cleaning up spills in the common areas, but it is a really large, open property. However, the laundry area was surprisingly well maintained, as were the pools and restaurants.

Overall, a good value in a very remote area. Kitchenette, large patio, huge bathroom, convenient location and air conditioning were big pluses. The property needs an upgrade, but if you plan to be in the park all day, it likely won't matter much.

Arrived by the bus which stops directly outside. We were concerned with the first apartment allocated as the front door did not secure very well, so back to reception and our room was changed. We had a room which was one of the blocks furthest from the reception. This was not a problem as this is also where the indoor pool was located. The views from here are basically onto the car park, but is was nice to have a balcony to enjoy the morning sunshine. The room was quite big with a kitchenette which was adaquate for our short stay. The bathroom was quite large and everything worked OK. The room was a bit dated and dull, however we were perfectly comfortable. The site has a number of pools. The indoor pool was of a good size. We hoped to use one of the outdoor pools near our block, however it was very dirty with leaves, insects, etc and so we avoided it and lay on the sun loungers for a while instead. We made use of the laundry which I think had about 2-3 washers and dryers. We had no car as we were travelling throughout the US so we relied on the YARTS to get in and out of Yosemite NP. This service is fantastic and we had no problems using it for the 3 days we were there. Having seen the accomodation inside the park I was very pleased to have paid much less for this hotel as some of the hotels within the park did not look particularly grand given the extra costs. For me to give this hotel a 'very good' rating I would have liked to have had some of the staff be a bit more friendly as well as had a clean pool and some more modern furnishings. Having said that, due to the competitive rates in comparision to the park prices I would stay here again.

Based on the photos on here, we were not expecting much at this hotel. We were pleasantly surprised. The room was large, with a full kitchenette, with dishes and a little stove, microwave, fridge. Our room had a balcony that overlooked the river. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was large and clean. There is a pizza place that was open for dinner, which was nice, with outdoor seating. The bartender was very nice, "Travis I think". There is a little store with groceries, and lots of souvenirs. We used the laundry room facilities, which were 1.50 per wash and 1.50 per dry. The YARTS picked us up right in front of the hotel and it is literally the last place to stay before you enter the park. It look about 25 minutes on the bus to get to Yosemite Valley. None of the hot tubs were available right now, because of Covid. The pool was open though. We ended up hanging out in the river instead. I know they have an indoor pool as well, which we didn't go to. We really enjoyed our stay and will stay again. The only small complaint I had was the workers in the lobby weren't the friendliest. They weren't rude, but not over the top friendly. I am from the south, so I might just be used to "over the top friendly" :).

Lots to be said so I’ll start with the good: Indoor pool area was nice. Too cold for outdoor pools so no comment on those or the restaurants as we didn’t go. Gift shop area of store was very well supplied with accommodating prices for all budgets which was nice. They had some good stuff. The river view was beautiful! Staff was friendly and polite in the store and the location of the resort is fantastic in relation to the gates of Yosemite.

Now, there were issues, I’ll start with the small ones: grocery store was seriously lacking with empty spaces on shelves. The online booking had a “Mountain View” room option for $30 less but the booking agent said they didn’t have that option (I called the number on the website). That woman also told me the Mountain View rooms weren’t even worth it and she wouldn’t recommend them at all. (That’s terrible!)

The room was less than clean! Dusty and dirty light fixtures and there was nasty brown stuff on the wall/ baseboards by one of the beds which was caked in fuzz and dust. The bathroom had had some bad repairs and there were holes in the walls in multiple places. The furniture was banged up and tired looking and the plastic pieces in the fridge door were missing so you couldn’t use them, things flew out when the door opened. Beds were ok but I found hair in them. Towels and sheets needed replacing, they were thin and well used.

The walls are paper thin and with rude, loud neighbors, sleep is hard to come by.

Upon check-out I told them the room was dirty but they didn’t seem to care...so I’m posting it here!

They have large, multi room suites, with three beds, enough to sleep a family of at least 6. kitchenette, with fridge and microwave, two bathrooms, balcony, they have it all at half the price of the hotel inside the park. But it is all very very dated. bathroom sink falling off the wall, tiled shower stall all just make up on a very dated design. Overall it was clean enough. great location for visiting Yosemite, there aren't too many options as the inside the park accommodations are booked way in advance. I think they are trying to make it nicer, but they really don't have any incentives when competing with tents and RVs. There is no cell service in this valley and WIF is ten dollars per day for two devices only.

I try come to this beautiful hotel once a year, usually around the same time. Everytime I book I get overly excited as I look forward to the amazing sound of the Merced River located right on the side of the Hotel. I always get river view rooms on the second floor, those are my favorite! The staff is friendly, very accommodating and super attentive to details. All my requests were met as usual. The rooms could use a major update but on the plus side they have a mini kitchen, electric fireplace and spacious bathroom with a jacuzzi. Conveniently located right outside the gate of Yosemite this hotel has it all to make a getaway memorable. The lobby has a spacious sitting area, business center, and a mini mart/ souvenir stop. Sleeping to the mother nature sounds is something out of this world. I cant describe how great of a feeling I get being here. Wifi is a tad pricey since there is no cell phone reception but I've had no issues when connected to it. Highly recommend this place and don't take my word for it, come over and indulge yourself in the best of nature, leave all your stress behind, let the good times roll. Take a dive in the pool and relax.

We stayed here for 3 nights between Christmas and New years. THe location is great with easy access to Yosemite NP just a few miles up the road. The place is pretty big, lots of rooms, lots of buildings. Our room, with 2 queen beds was roomy, clean and with a small refrigerator, sink and 2 burner stove. The heater worked well, albeit a bit on teh noisy side. We had a none-river view room. THe bathroom was clean and looked relatively new. The bathtub/shower was good sized but leaked. Lighting in the room was adequate. THere are two restaurants. In the winter the pizza place is only open on weekends but the "river" restaurant is open every night. Not a lot of seating for such a big hotel so we had to wait 20 minutes or so to get seated. The pizza place was only open on Friday and Saturday during our stay even though it seemed the hotel was packed. The food in the River restaurant will suit your needs. On the Sunday of our stay we wanted pizza and had to order it through the bar in the restaurant. With only one person working the bar, and he was great, it took a while to take care of this. I will say that the pizza was really good, much better than I had expected. If it's luxury you want, you will not find it here. The staff were pleasant and the gift store on site was good. All in all we felt this room was just fine for our needs and am glad we decided to stay here instead of much further away in Mariposa.

PROS: get river view room. We got a double queen bed… room 1066… but room 1067-1070 I think are all the same. Big patio facing river. Quite nice. 1066 is the best because you have no obstruction to the left of the patio.
Room has a small kitchenette with 2 electric burners, small fridge, microwave n sink. Bring your own food to cook!! There’s not much choices around. Getting ground floor was great for accessibility to the car.. easy loading n unloading. Location is very close to the entrance to the park. We stayed in dogwood building which made it easy to go to the lobby & small convenience store. They have wine glasses in the cabinet so bring a bottle! Service was polite & adequate. AC worked.. thank god.

Cons: dated look & needs some polish work. Some cosmetic issues like carpet stains, peeling wall paper, ugly furniture, broken electrical sockets, bad tiling in the bathroom & super eco shower head that barely sprayed water on your head.
Coffee is the teabag style that u throw into the coffee maker… but it wasn’t great. Preferred to bring my own but they didn’t have filters. So bring your French press next time. I would bring your own kitchen pans or pots if you are particular cz there’s not much there.
$10 wifi for only 2 devices max…you will need it if you use AT&T coz there’s no signal at all.

Overall… I would stay again if I got the same room.

Beautiful location. Right on the Merced River in El Portal, which is about 2 miles outside the park entrance on Hwy 140. The hotel and rooms are very clean and spacious, though a bit outdated. They seem to have refurbished the bathrooms, which have marble counter tops and rooms have a Jacuzzi tub with dual shower heads. Most of the rooms have a private patio which overlooks the river. The hotel is expensive, but all accommodations in and around Yosemite are (I think even tent cabins at Camp Curry go for over $150/night). My advice, book early. The rates increased by over $300/night from the time we booked to what someone would pay this summer. There aren't many food choices around because El Portal is a small town. Because of that, people pretty much are limited to an onsite restaurant and a pizza parlor. Breakfasts are buffet only at $18.95 per person. Dinners are very good and not exorbitantly priced for a hotel. All rooms have a kitchenette with a stove, microwave and a small refrigerator, so you can bring food and eat in your room. I'd say, if you can't get a room in Yosemite, this is your best alternative. I would not hesitate to recommend it.

We fly into Fresno and then grocery shopped there. We just put grocery stores into our phone once we arrived. The park has a nice selection of groceries at the different gift store areas as well.

No, Unless it changed in recent months, there are 4 ways to get tickets: 1. Online reservation. 2. On the bus using a credit card. 3. On the bus using cash (exact amount only). 4. At the YARTS Administration building in Merced.

There is breakfast served in the restaurant but at extra cost. There are microwaves in the room so we took breakfast sandwiches (from Costco) and cooked them in the room. Also took a travel kettle to make Tea and French press coffee.
