My husband and I recently stayed at the Grey Whale for 3 nights. We returned after having stayed here 20 years ago and remembering it fondly. When we arrived we noticed that the front of the Inn looked very different with an out-of-control, overgrown and rambling garden. Once inside, we saw no one, so had to ring the innkeeper who...

My mother and I stayed at the Grey Whale in early August on a trip from San Francisco to Eureka. It is a charming Inn with very quirky and interesting art decorating the hallways. The owner was extremely friendly, expecially when we arrived late on the first night of our stay. We had the Sunset room which had a great...

Naturally, I would give this hotel a 4-star review. The person behind the check-in counter was friendly, the breakfast was good, and the rooms were clean and spacious. Now, the reason why I’m giving this hotel a three star review doesn’t have to do with the quality of the inn. It has to do with my experience there, as well...

My husband and I stayed at Grey Whale Inn on our honeymoon. We were taking a tour of the west coast and Fort Bragg was a stop on our way. Upon arrival we felt immediately welcomed by the cozy vibe of the hotel and our room was clean and adorable. We enjoyed our evening out for dinner in Fort Bragg...

My Mum and I stayed here for two nights and fell in love with the place! The owner, Mike, takes so much pride in his hotel and making sure that all the guests are fully attended to. We were even upgraded; as a larger room was available during the stay. Our room was spectacular! It was spacious, clean and extremely...

My girlfriend and I headed south from Washington state with the only destinations of glass beach and big sur. it was a trip of healing as we had recently gone through tragedy. Each day had been refreshing, but when we decided to stay in fort Bragg for the night, a spark was lit. We were lucky enough not to get...

I have just returned from a very pleasant, relaxing stay at the Grey Whale Inn, Fort Bragg, CA. I was well received and was given many hiking recommendations! The breakfast is to die for! I'd recommend this place to anybody!! There's also a garden in the front so you can enjoy the community spirit of Fort Bragg! Thanks Mike, Sweet...

We have been coming here for ten years. This is a fabulous place! We absolutely love it. Unlike many B&Bs, the Grey Whale Inn resists a single defining image. This B&B was built as a hospital in 1915 -- hence the wide hallways and large guest rooms. Each room is unique and spacious. We love the game room with a...

This is the most interesting place to stay in Fort Bragg. Once a hospital, the building has been completely renovated. The rooms are large, most with full baths, large comfortable beds, very nice sheets, towels and amenities, and beautiful art. The owner Mike is a potter, so pottery lines the building halls along with wonderful patchwork quilts on most walls....
