The only drawback is we were on the 3rd floor (definitely got our steps in!) which had a LOT of stairs! You will also most likely need to drive to a restaurant for dinner as all but one of their restaurants were closed (July 2021).
The property is very well maintained, the rooms are clean and overall the property is absolutely lovely. I especially enjoyed the evening sitting in the living room space on the first floor. The room has two pianos, the wood stove was nice and cozy.
Upon our arrival, Jesse greeted us, showed us around and was overall very great! That evening an older woman said she was going to adjust my rate higher because I was in a shared bathroom, but using it as a private bathroom. Though, there were very few guests at the property. I was taken aback by this. I did end up speaking with the woman again and she agreed not to charge me a higher rate. She asked that I leave a good tip for the housekeeper, which I did.
I totally get running a property is very very difficult and I definitely am more than happy to support the business. I was just a bit disappointed with the interaction I had. I would have been agreeable to pay the higher rate, if I had been approached more hospitably. That being said, after talking with the woman, I do feel we came to a consensus. My stay was flawless up until that point. I went back to my room shocked.
I didn't get to meet the owners and I suspect the woman was one of the owners mother. I get the job is tough and running a business is very difficult. I appreciate the opportunity to stay at such a beautiful, historic property in a cute town. I wish the best to the property owners,.
service. It is a beautiful home and we could have really enjoyed our stay, but unfortunately dealing with the hostess (owners out of town) made it unbearable. She was extremely rude. It was like staying at someone's home who invited you, but really didn't want you there. We couldn't use the Jacuzzi because she didn't want us to. We couldn't exit through the porch gate, just because she said so. She made happy hour seem like she was doing us a HUGE favor, and the list goes on.
Today, I called the inn to make a reservation. The man on the other end yelled at me for cancelling the last time and grudgingly gave me available dates for room #5 that I was interested in. When I asked if room #2 was available for a certain date, he said "don't push it" and was absolutely rude. I told him that we did not mean to inconvenience him, which is why we asked the lady if it's possible to postpone - if it wasn't, we would have gone there anyway. The man wanted proof if I was actually sick the last time! He asked me if I had seen a doctor and how I could make a reservation when I was sick (as if I can predict when I will fall sick). He also tried to give me just one night stay at the inn with the voucher instead of two that I was supposed to get!!
Anyway, stay away from this place. If the owner can be so rude and mean on the phone, imaging how awful he will be when you're actually staying at the inn and what kind of customer service you can expect. I am glad living social refunded me my money because I wouldn't have gone anyway.
"The downstairs suite is very convenient to the deck (and party), it has a sitting room and a lovely clawfoot bathtub but no shower."Read full review
