Truly beautiful! This Inn is a historical landmark. Built in 1853 and trapped in a beautiful Victorian style. It's like going back in time. The customer service is really amaizing. The small time feel of these private owners makes it such a warm cozy atmosphere. They are right there to assist you or go over some of the history that riddles this amaizing place. They even have a ghost story attached to one of the rooms that has been documented in a hunted America book. If you are interested ask about or Google Oscar the Love Sick Ghost. in Every room is a different but glorious Victorian adventure. It is a clean and relaxing place from sitting in the living room listening to the music of the erra to the home-cooked country meals served with a smile in the dining room. The tiny city of Georgetown is where this landmark sits. The town also has this old fashion flair. I will be back and suggest you visit as well. You will not regret it.

This little gem sits in a *tiny* little town and we would have missed it altogether if we hadn't gone river rafting close by. This is the oldest B&B we've ever visited and it is beautifully decorated. Breakfast was delicious and they were excellent in making sure my husband, who has strict food allergies, had a delicious breakfast as well.
The only drawback is we were on the 3rd floor (definitely got our steps in!) which had a LOT of stairs! You will also most likely need to drive to a restaurant for dinner as all but one of their restaurants were closed (July 2021).

Our stay was delightful. My husband and I were the only guests for our one night stay. We chose a room with a private bath and were also given a room with an air conditioner. We were on the second floor. There were three "shared" bathrooms there. One was open and was quite modern compared to the bathroom in our room. The Inn is quite large and it is filled with antiques and so many other interesting things. Our hostess was charming. We enjoyed talking with her as we had cheese, fruit and wine in the afternoon. Breakfast was delicious with orange juice, fresh fruit, eggs, sausage, an English muffin and coffee. There is WiFi and parking is on the street.

I really struggled whether to give this property an "Average" or a "Very Good". I chose "Average" because one interaction with a staff member during our stay. That being said, it is a lovely property and I do not dissuade readers from staying at the property. The interaction I had was hopefully isolated.

The property is very well maintained, the rooms are clean and overall the property is absolutely lovely. I especially enjoyed the evening sitting in the living room space on the first floor. The room has two pianos, the wood stove was nice and cozy.

Upon our arrival, Jesse greeted us, showed us around and was overall very great! That evening an older woman said she was going to adjust my rate higher because I was in a shared bathroom, but using it as a private bathroom. Though, there were very few guests at the property. I was taken aback by this. I did end up speaking with the woman again and she agreed not to charge me a higher rate. She asked that I leave a good tip for the housekeeper, which I did.

I totally get running a property is very very difficult and I definitely am more than happy to support the business. I was just a bit disappointed with the interaction I had. I would have been agreeable to pay the higher rate, if I had been approached more hospitably. That being said, after talking with the woman, I do feel we came to a consensus. My stay was flawless up until that point. I went back to my room shocked.

I didn't get to meet the owners and I suspect the woman was one of the owners mother. I get the job is tough and running a business is very difficult. I appreciate the opportunity to stay at such a beautiful, historic property in a cute town. I wish the best to the property owners,.

Our room was comfortable. Some loud partier noise from the street on Fri and Sat nights though it didn't keep us from sleeping. Breakfast on the porch was lovely. The only wrinkle in our stay was that Saturday evening I came in from the day and was chatting with the innkeeper and two other folks she was hanging out with. I mentioned I was from Oakland and each of them proceeded to criticize Oakland in multiple ways. It was unpleasant and disheartening to say the least. Not a way to be with your guests.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the American River Inn. It was like stepping back in time. The period furnishings throughout the inn were beautiful. Breakfast each morning was exceptional. We made ourselves at home even inviting local friends in for wine before dinner. Jason and his staff attended to our every need. We look forward to our return. Dick & Kate

Experience going back to the late 1800's in an adorable Victorian inn. The rooms were all decorated with the times. The staff were superb and attentive to all your needs. They offered more than one bed if you need it.The food was great. The local bar offered live entertainment.

We stayed at The Historical River Inn this summer and unfortunately had terrible customer
service. It is a beautiful home and we could have really enjoyed our stay, but unfortunately dealing with the hostess (owners out of town) made it unbearable. She was extremely rude. It was like staying at someone's home who invited you, but really didn't want you there. We couldn't use the Jacuzzi because she didn't want us to. We couldn't exit through the porch gate, just because she said so. She made happy hour seem like she was doing us a HUGE favor, and the list goes on.

We bought a living social voucher for this inn and were planning on making a trip sometime in December. But unfortunately, I was feeling under the weather on the day we were supposed to go to the inn and my husband called them and asked if we could postpone the reservation for some other time. The lady on the other end said that this was perfectly ok and was nice about it.

Today, I called the inn to make a reservation. The man on the other end yelled at me for cancelling the last time and grudgingly gave me available dates for room #5 that I was interested in. When I asked if room #2 was available for a certain date, he said "don't push it" and was absolutely rude. I told him that we did not mean to inconvenience him, which is why we asked the lady if it's possible to postpone - if it wasn't, we would have gone there anyway. The man wanted proof if I was actually sick the last time! He asked me if I had seen a doctor and how I could make a reservation when I was sick (as if I can predict when I will fall sick). He also tried to give me just one night stay at the inn with the voucher instead of two that I was supposed to get!!

Anyway, stay away from this place. If the owner can be so rude and mean on the phone, imaging how awful he will be when you're actually staying at the inn and what kind of customer service you can expect. I am glad living social refunded me my money because I wouldn't have gone anyway.

Its an enchanting place with really cool history.. But, unfortunately, the substitute hostess is very inhospitable. Maybe try to go when the owners are in? Cute downstairs and authentic furnished suites. Just bad customer service, I'm sad to say. As soon as I talked to her I wish that I hadn't. But aside from this, I can make no complaint.

We did not bring our dogs with us during our stay. Recommend calling the hotel directly; they may allow dogs in specific rooms.
