Detailed Reviews
The dozen or so rooms upstairs of the saloon have lots of charm from a relatively recent reno, 1800s-style wallpaper, wood floors, very comfortable beds. The bedrooms were quiet even during an "active" Friday night in the saloon (very fun karaoke night, friendly residents, good drinks, very good pub food), two shared bathrooms were clean and convenient, something I was a bit concerned about. One night my cousins and family had dinner in the garden area behind the hotel, very good burgers and salads, some tasty appetizers. The owners and wait staff inside and out were VERY friendly, helpful, brisk. As you would guess, it's a casual, friendly place. Plus, it's supposed to be haunted by it's prior occupants: It used to be a bordello when Georgetown was a mining center!

Last time I did a review, this was under construction. Well the construction is just about done (a few windows left to install, the patio and firepit is under construction now, and a fireplace room expansion to come) but this place IS WORTH THE VISIT!! The owners have just done an incredible restoration of a historic building and it looks like it stepped off the pages of Historic Hotels of the West. Food is great too, although minimal right now as they are expanding their kitchen, but you sure don't go away hungry and for cowboys/cowgirls - that's important. When you're there try their specialty drink the GOLDRUSH and tell them Miss Lil referred you. Hotel rooms are available to book now too - though limited until they get the rest done.

+1
So much history within these walls and yes it’s wonderful with the creaks and groans of time and age. Remember this old girl has seen some things...what you won’t see is a TV or cable in the rooms, The Honeymoon Suite doesn’t have a show but there is a shared one down the hall. It is very close to original with creaky floor boards and the wall paper is perfect. The mattress needs to be replaced and that porch light needs to be turned out at night. It truly is a walk back in time. 1856 is the date built and between then and 1896 it suffered two fires! Restored with a great staff and gentle charm.

First...pay no attention to the photo on TripAdvisor. This is an old hotel and saloon built in the 1850's in the small town of Georgetown, California. This place is desperately seeking someone to save it from becoming irretrievable. The bar and hotel have a very historic feel (despite some newer amenities). We drank at the bar, had Mexican food at the restaurant and stayed overnight in Room 1 for $65.
The Good: Great old bar, a neat rustic town and a great breakfast at Corner Kitchen
The Bad: Bartender wants to be grumpy but is really a nice guy; They are very upset that Fish and Game confiscated a very old wolverine that sat above the bar; Just average Mexican food but the folks are nice and very hard working
The Ugly: Some dubious locals; A beautiful old hotel that is desperately seeking a new lease on life
The hotel is in a serious state of decay both inside and out. It is apparent this was once a beautiful place! It is now old, dirty and stuffed with junk and curious tenants. The back of the hotel is occupied and it's quite trashy. As you walk upstairs to the rooms you're taken back in time literally and figuratively. Upon entry the hall and sideroom is full of junk/decorations/stuff. It's a big hotel with lots of rooms and three floors. Most of the rooms look as if they aren't used. Our room had mostly antiques and (as usual in an old hotel) the bathroom was down the hall. The rugs and walls are dirty...very dirty despite vacuum marks in the carpet. Our bedding was clean but stained, old-old-old and uncomfortable. We were greeted by a growling dog trying to enter the bathroom and someone scrubbing the stairs to the 3rd floor (in the dark and who we could barely see). The washer/dryer room (on the way to the bathroom) is piled with clothes/stuff and the shower had cigarette butts/ashes. Yet this hotel and saloon has a great history.
What can I say...creepy, cool, grimy, historic...a huge potential for someone looking to give a really neat old place a new lease on life.

I decided to give it a go, and spend a night in this mysterious little Hotel. It‘s located in the small town of Georgetown, CA. As a photographer with a taste for the paranormal, this stay was on my list of thing’s to do. It was a surprisingly pleasant stay, even though it was a quiet night, spiritually speaking. The staff was courteous, and friendly. Don‘t expect any modern facilities at this place, it‘s a blast from the past Just the way i like them. Georgetown offers many historic areas for the picture fanatic. Yeah! Excellent price!

Ate dinner here. Pulled pork was great! Decided to stay the night. Had one room with private bathroom and one with shared bathroom. Our friends too the shared bathroom room but we were the only ones in the hotel! Was a great night sleep!

Although the food, service and quality have improved from years ago before the remodel, it’s still mainly a locals place. Portion size/dollar are good values as is the content of the drink pour.I’d rate it 3 1/2 stars. Higher quality food would increase it to 4.

I had visited the Georgetown Hotel and Saloon two years ago and the locals at the saloon were friendly and amicable. We just spent our weekend there initially to listen to a friends band that was playing there. The food and drinks were exceptional. The wait staff was cordial, super enthusiastic and provided prompt, excellent service. There food especially their hamburgers were to die for. Excellent, excellent, excellent. This great historic place was built in 1856 and a s a history buff I loved it. From it's original saloon and hotel it was a great experience to be had.

We loved this place and it's likely to only get better once the restorations have fully been completed, we loved the history and feel of Georgetown and of this hotel. It was a great place to spend new yrs eve. If you eat here you definitely won't go hungry as the portion sizes are generous and very tasty, be prepared to wait for your food as they serve fresh cooked food not ping ding dinners ready meals!
