My husband and I stayed at the Residence Inn for 3 days 2 nights, and here is our review.
The hotel takes Covid-19 serious, so they required guests to wear a mask when going through the hotel, social distancing and using sanitizer. They do have sanitizing stations offer small packets in the room.
The pool usage is limited to 30 minutes for a party of 2 families. One day we had the pool to ourselves, and one day we shared it (divided half) with another small family. The towel came cleaned and wrapped in a plastic bag.
The free daily breakfast is still available, and they can be picked up from the front desk. On both mornings, they were the same- a bagel, orange, yogurt, and a bottled water. I do not know if they will change the food next week or keep the same.
No housekeeping unless your stay is 4+ nights. We were fine without it and just asked front desk for extra amenities.
Each elevator ride can only be used either by 2 people or a family.
We enjoyed our stay there.

We stayed at this hotel at the end of June/beginning of July during Covid-19. I was extremely pleased to see this hotel taking every precaution to keep the guests safe. Clearly the management here is setting the standard of how things should be run during something so serious as a global pandemic. The lobby was locked and only available for entry to guests. The pool was locked and sign ups were available in 30 minute increments with 2 rooms max at a time. When it was your time the employee provided you with fresh towels in a sealed bag and walked you to the pool. The chairs had signs on them that said “clean” or flipped over to say “clean me” after you sat in them. Most of our trip we were the only ones in the pool and were allowed to stay until another guest came. The entire hotel staff (managers, front desk, housekeeping) were constantly walking around and cleaning all surfaces throughout the hotel including doors, seats, outdoor equipment. The staff all wore masks the entire time. I cannot tell you how relived I was seeing how serious the staff was taking this. We were going to stay at another hotel in Ventura but after seeing how the staff was not taking it seriously we are so glad we changed to this hotel. The rooms are very modern and are a great setup. They also have an inner courtyard that plays great music and has a ping pong table and putting green (all continually sanitized). The Amtrak station is also a 2 minute drive. We cannot wait to get back here for another stay. Good job!

I am staying at the Residence Inn in Goleta for an extended stay while working a temporary job in Goleta. I am impressed with the newness of the property and how clean they keep the hotel in general and my room in particular. First, check in was very easy. I was assigned a room in the back on the first floor which was convenient to parking and the pool. They also have very nice rooms off the courtyard and a very few have balconies and several more have patios which look very nice but they are more expensive and beyond my budget for an extended stay. My room has a king size comfortable bed, a nice bathroom with a very large walk in shower with good water pressure. The TV swings so can be watched from bed or the living area. The living area has a couch and a desk chair. The kitchen is adequate with a nice refrigerator, stove, microwave and toaster. Unfortunately, my room does not have an oven or toaster oven. My understanding is the the two bedroom units do have an oven. The grounds are very well kept with several gas fire pits which are useful during the cold evenings. The pool is very nice and requires a reservation but the reservation has never been a problem. The breakfast buffet is currently closed because of the pandemic but there is a breakfast window where 2 very nice and efficient servers provide me with coffee, orange juice, fresh fruit, oatmeal and breakfast sandwiches every morning. Housekeeping does a great job at cleaning the room but scheduling housekeeping has been a struggle. Since I am here for 2 months I elected to have housekeeping come only once a week on Thursdays and verify the date with the front desk on Thursday mornings but every Thursday requires a second call to the front desk because somehow my room always gets missed. But to emphasize, once the room is cleaned, housekeeping does an excellent job. There is a workout room that initially was closed but now open. The exercise room also requires a reservation but again not difficult to get. The ice machine always has plenty of ice. There is a laundry room near the front desk with multiple large washers and dryers. The washers cost $3.50 for a routine 35 minute wash and the dryer is also $3.50 but lasts for 45 minutes. All in all I am very happy with my stay at the Residence Inn in Goleta and would recommend this property for extended stays and for briefer stays for individuals and families.

Great customer service and very helpful staff! They were friendly, helped with questions, quick to bring out the breakfast go bags, etc. The property is nice and modern. Ideal location between Santa Barbara and Santa Ynez.
Staff and hotel followed good Covid-19 policies - key fob to get into the front lobby (they buzz you if you're checking-in), shield guard between guests and staff, pool limits, etc.
Here were my disappointing observations that made me lower my overall rating:
The room was not sanitized or thoroughly clean which was extremely disappointing given the other precautions the hotel was taking. Bathroom toilet had pieces of hair. Potato chips found around the couch (visible, not under). Pieces of plastic on the office chair. During a simple clean, these noticeable things should have been caught.
Saw staff member who was taking care of either laundry or trash not wearing face covering.
If it was not for the current safety environment, I would have given the overall rating a 4.

This hotel refuses to service rooms during your stay. Unlike other major hotel chains who provide cleaning upon request, the hotel will not clean your room under any circumstances. By the end of our stay in a $400-per night suite, the trash was overflowing and towels were dirty. Sounds like the hotel was nicer during pre-pandemic times.
Stay someone else until the health crisis is over; this one is not worth it.

We stayed in room 308 (1 Bedroom Suite) the week of September 12, 2022. The hotel and room are in great condition. All of the employees that we had contact with were very nice. There was always lots of parking available in the hotel parking lot and it's very well lit. There isn't much in the immediate area of the hotel but it's perfectly safe and only a 15 minute drive to downtown Santa Barbara. However, the bathroom sink is in the bedroom. It's not actually inside the bathroom with the toilet and shower/tub. I personally really dislike this design because if one person is sleeping you can't use the bathroom sink without waking them up. But what's even worse about the design of the bathroom is that there isn't a single towel rack or hook anywhere near the bathroom sink or the toilet or the shower/tub or on either side of the bathroom door to hang a towel. In addition, I understand that the room that I'm assigned may not look exactly like the photos of the 1 Bedroom Suite on the hotel website but the front desk said that the 1 Bedroom Suite pictured on the hotel website (The bathroom sink is actually inside the bathroom with the toilet and the shower/tub. There are towel racks in the bathroom.) isn't available to anyone. In other words, none of the 1 Bedroom Suites actually look like the photos of the 1 Bedroom Suite on the hotel website. So we resorted to using the "closet" rods as a towel rack for all of our bath towels, hand towels, and washcloths. We also took a square freestanding storage unit from the "closet" area and placed it next to to the shower/tub to put our towels on so we can reach for them when getting out of the shower. This room is handicap accessible but that should have absolutely nothing to do with having towel racks or not. Everyone needs towel racks whether they're in a wheelchair or not. FYI the metal bars that you see in the photos that I posted are grab bars, not towel racks. I've stayed in hotels that don't have enough towel rack but I've never stayed in a hotel that doesn't have any towel racks at all. This seems like a major design flaw. Considering that we paid $366.00/night on average, this was extremely disappointing and inconvenient.

Based on positive Trip Advisor reviews, decided to book a six (6) night “work from anywhere” stay in SB/Goleta at this Residence Inn. Being Platinum Elite, it was nice that my Bonvoy “Suite Nights” were approved for a 2 Bedroom.
First and foremost, I would like to sincerely thank Susan for a welcoming and efficient check-in experience (including securing us a 3rd floor guest room).
Upon entering room 335 and unpacking for the week (Sunday 3/6 thru Saturday 3/12), we started noticing the entire suite was extremely beat up including closet doors were broken and missing doors. The unit was also quite grungy! (See attached photos)
Ok so thank G-d I brought some cleaning supplies so took 15 minutes and wiped down the room.
Started watching some TV and discovered the reception and/or resolution on all three big screen TVs was seriously poor.
Later that early evening, was “trying”to relax in the king bedroom but nearly impossible as the nextdoor guest (room 337) TV was blasting loud along with his nonstop cellphone conversations - ALL coming right through the super thin walls.
Later, later upon trying to sleep, noticed a LOUD “turbine fan blowing” and ‘humming” noise coming in from the outside. Considering this property was built in 2017, we determined that super close proximity to the airport and factories, this was not stopping.
So phoned the front desk (Eva) and she stated that unfortunately all two bedroom suites (floors 1, 2 and 3) are in the same location of the property and 1st floor “courtyard” units are not available. I informed her that unfortunately this situation is not going to work for me as my sleep and some “peace n quiet” is most important for working here all week long. After first stating to me “I’m sorry you will be charged for today since it’s after 4:00” and to call the Asst. Mgr. “Drew” in the morning, after some further discussions (not friendly to say the least), she stated “I spoke with a Mgr. And you can checkout without being charged if you are OUT by 9:00”. I explained to her we just unpacked for an entire week including work engineering computer/monitor systems) and you’re telling me “I need to be out in 35 minutes” as it’s now 8:25 PM. I was quite furious of her attitude and exhaustively rushed to pack up and load the car for a 2 hour trip home at 9:00 PM. Long day and certainly not what the “Plan Was”.
In summary:
1) This young lady needs some training on how to treat Marriott’s Elite Level guests dedicated to the brand.
2) If you are looking to pay in excess of $500/night for a 2 bedroom suite or similar, highly recommend the Waterman or Ritz which I’m fairly certain were both built with significantly better quality construction.
Good luck if you decide on this property.
We will NOT be returning to Residence Inn, Santa Barbara/Goleta.

I checked in at like 6am the next morning of my reservation and Susan (the front desk employee) gave me a room on a high floor so I wouldn't hear a bunch of noise and could get some sleep. Then she automatically put me down for 4pm check out. She was awesome.

I stayed here with my family in Feb 2021 using my Marriott Rewards points. I really liked the hotel and thought the staff was friendly. The rooms had a kitchen and the bathrooms were beautiful. However, I noticed a few things that caused me not to give this place 5 stars.
The bathrooms were not thoroughly cleaned. I saw lots of dirt under the bath vanity (see pic). The corners near the toilet were not swept and had accumulated dirt. The bathroom toilet had stains inside it, like a toilet ring. The hotel charges $10 for parking, yet I got no parking pass and there was no security gate. Why does the hotel charge $10 for parking if the parking lot doesn't even have a security gate or secured parking?
What I did like was the friendly, hard working lady at the breakfast counter, the efficient check in process and the easy check out. The staff are friendly and the hotel grounds are well maintained.
I would return and stay here again and hopefully, the cleaning standards change.

We had to stay here for three months while we waited for a new home to be complete. It was my wife and I and our (nutty) Siberian Husky in a 1.5 room suite. And we LOVED it. The staff was exceptional, led by the hotel manager Drew who helped us to not only extend our stay but also with local advice on where to eat, where to have fun, the beaches or golf course or hiking trails to explore, etc. What was otherwise a very stressful time for us — waiting to close on a new house while being outside of our old in an entirely new city — was terrific. I would highly recommend the RI to anyone in a similar situation or someone who’s just coming up to SB for a weekend baseball tournament or other getaway event. Great place.
