Detailed Reviews
Very quiet campground. Bathrooms & showers are very clean!! Great place to camp when fair is not happening, or other events. Less crowded on non event times. Some shade trees. Pond to walk to on the property. Highly recommend camping here. Loved that the Canadian geese were here & we saw their babies!!

We just returned from a wedding in Grass Valley. Instead of paying $130/ night at the hotel that the wedding group suggested, we decided to look for other lodging arrangements in the area. We have a trailer and we decided to look into staying at a campground.
We booked at the NV County Fairgrounds because it was cheap, cheap, cheap. We didn't know what to expect since there weren't any photos listed on the website.
We arrived at the fairgrounds and checked-in. The area was quite large with many tall pine trees for shade. If you chose the electric & water hookups, you are parked in the shaded trees with less people parked near you. The bathrooms were clean but old. This campground is just for trailers & RVs only, there is no camp tenting available.
We were very pleased with the scene and the price.
If we ever stayed in Grass Valley again, we would stay at the NV Fairgrounds again.

Camped here with other friends in a fifth wheel over Memorial Weekend.
What a great find. No crowds, beautiful pond and surroundings.
Close to amenities.
Will return someday.
Only negative was the $10 charge for a picnic table.

The fairgrounds RV park was designed to accommodate fair attendees who are traveling in RVs, but is also available to the public at other times. Gravel pads with water, power, sewer and wifi in an open field. Older, but well-maintained, showers and rest rooms. Place was clean and quiet. Staff and reservations were friendly and efficient.
Oddly, the Grass Valley and Nevada City area apparently does not have any commercial RV parks that we could find, so the fair grounds were just fine for our two-day stay.

Lots of old trees, large spaces, very close to shopping, restaurants, bars, markets, hiking and activities. Easy access, clean restrooms with showers. No amenities but it didn't matter as there's lots to do in Grass Valley. We stayed here in a 37 foot motor home and would stay there again.

Well...the fairgrounds host the annual Nevada County Fair, as well as camping, and other events...but we went for the Fair.
The drive up is beautiful...we came from Roseville, CA. Beautiful Pines, and trees as far as the eyes can see.
The Fairgrounds are easily approached from 49. There are two shopping centers right off of 49, with places to eat...Raley's grocery, KMart, JCPenney, IHOP, Carl Jrs., Starbucks....
The fairground had tall pines...it's just beautiful. The fair was very nice today.
This is an easy drive up from the Sacramento Region via 80 through Auburn. It only took us about one hour from Roseville. I have no experience camping here, however.
We also go up to Cisco Grove campgrounds up 80 when the snow falls, near Soda Springs...and that seems like a good spot to camp....may have to get into camping!

If you stay in the part of the campground that is right across from the Camper Parking expect a lot of noise at night. It's a great location to be this close to the bathrooms and entrance into the shows, but expect to be woke up in the middle of the night with LOUD drunken singing and partying that will go on for hours. I've camped here 3 different years and it's been like this 2 out of 3 times, which is sad because it's a fun place to camp during the day. I'll be staying at a hotel in town next year.

We stayed here twice. Nice spot under the trees and Vera was very sweet.- however our second stay.. the other really rude "customer service" lady really ruined the entire vibe. She was quite rude to my group and others in line. Friends parked their vehicle with our spot and although there are 2 vehicles allowed as it says on the rules list and 6 guests.. she said we broke the rules, RAISED her voice at me (again),she refused to let us stay again or even accept more money because we were waiting on our alternator to be repaired down the street..
THEN threatened to call the cops if we didn't leave promptly at noon. No one deserves to be treated like that. there were plenty of solutions.. which she wasn't into that at all.

We camped here for 3 nights in our 30 foot travel trailer. Campground is beautiful, with easy access to town. We had to take a site without sewer hookups, but was told restrooms, with showers, were available.
The only amenity was WiFi, but we were ok with that.
Was very disappointed in the bathrooms close to the water and electricity sites. No shower curtains in the stalls and cleanliness was an issue (smelled like pine sol, but trash was on the floor day after day, soap dispensers weren't usable, paper towels stuck in the dispenser, urinals with notes taped on them "don't pee here," etc). The bathroom in the middle of the total hook up section was much better maintained (why???? They have sewer!!!). However,it seems as of things are rigged to last in that bathroom, as well.
People working at camp were friendly and knowledgeable, as well as everyone in town helping us navigate all the Fourth of July festivities.
I would stay here again, but would ask for full hookups, close to shade.

We belong to several rv groups so as to not make anyone mad .... let me say we paid for our spot at the fairgrounds and it was reasonable and well worth the price. Lots of trees and nothing like you would expect at a fairground. They just hired a couple (Don and Lucy) to be camp hosts. And they are amazing. The place is spotless. They are now friends and we certainly will go back. The fair grounds are very nice and they are lucky to have found such great hosts. I think we saw Don helping 4 or 5 RV people with trouble with their RV's which is not even in the camp host have to list.
They even introduced us to a couple there (staying ) that make stunning utensils that are powder coated and unique and sturdy and beautiful. Since I was struggling on a gift for my wife for our 40th.... they made it easy , she gets new RV and house place settings. All because of Don and Lucy.
